Nice but not extraordinary

The Chedi has gorgeous grounds/good location on a beach. It is a place of serenity and relaxation. I am sure that it is one of the nicest hotels in Muscat. The food was good and nicely presented. We were surprised that the room was not nicer--it was sort of on the utilitarian side. The bathroom had an open closet in it, so your clothes were hanging out in the open. There was no place to put extras suitcases or bags except on the sofa. The bed was built in and the nightstands were almost on the floor so you couldnt really see your clock or reach to your items. I can't put my finger on it, but if you came to this room in a place that was less expensive, and promised a more casual seaside setting, you would think it was fine. We had been in some luxury hotels in the UAE and it probably suffered in comparison with those hotels. The beach and pool areas were really beautiful. The service was nice and all of the workers were nice, but they did not have that extra-mile attitude.
