Wonderful service

By: Mike

The Stafford is a warm, comfortable, inviting hotel AND has a great location -- perfect for the traveler. Service was superb even to the point of making a special dessert for me after mentioning I liked a particular fruit during the breakfast buffet - great attention to detail! Will definitely recommend and use on my next trip to London.

The staff was amazing. Seriously the best service I've ever had. They were extremely attentive and helpful in every way. The lights in the room were a bit confusing and by the end of my stay I was completely annoyed with them. That's really the only negative thing I could possible say. I wish the fireplace in the room worked. At least projected a picture of a fire. Even with the construction going, this hotel was hands down my favorite place! I can't wait to go back and stay longer!!!

I'd say 4 stars not 5. Location is great, check in was not optimal, had to stand up as there were only 3 chairs, not 4 so two couples couldn't check in at the same time. The receptionist didn't even offer to get another chair as I was standing up and my girlfriend was sitting...awkward. Also service was average, not excellent from the restaurant, concierge, etc.

My third stay at the Stafford confirmed my expectation that I would feel welcome and st home, as always. The staff were all very professional, courteous, and helpful. The newly renovated restaurant is lovely and the food excellent. The American bar is fun as ever but the smokers chased me out at dinnertime. Americans are unused to smoking being allowed in restaurants and bars. The hotel's location on a quiet street is a big plus and I will return again.

Our Go-To Stay in London

As we expected from past visits, the Stafford is a wonderful home away from home in London. St James is central to museums, theater, and two parks: St James and Green. The one caveat: too much outdoor smoking from The American Bar causes some guest rooms and generally all the common areas to smell of cigarettes for most of day and into the night. I wish they would address this issue.

I have stayed at the hotel for many years over several owners. In addition, my office was two blocks away when I lived in London in the 80's and I would often meet business associates at the American Bar.
