Hotel Byron
Forte dei Marmi hotel

Amidst the glamour of Tuscany's Riviera, Hotel Byron remains thankfully under the radar. To be sure, the villa, formerly a socialite’s home, is rightly upscale — but it is a relaxed chic, one that invites quiet days spent lounging by the pool or dawdling over lunch on the checkerboard-floor terrace. Chef Cristoforo Trapani’s cuisine is certainly worth lingering over, with his creative take on traditional dishes having earned a Michelin star. The 28 individually appointed rooms are simple in their elegance; choose a view of the sea or the gardens backdropped by the Apuan Alps. High-fashion shops are a stroll away.

Hotel Byron was well located and staff was immensely helpful. The rooms are a bit out of date, though we didn't spend much time in them with all the exploring, so it was a good home-base.
