Love the Mauna Lani

This was our second time at the Mauna Lani, and we loved it even more.  Compared to some of the other mega-resorts in the area, the Mauna Lani has a true laid-back Hawaiian feel, and it never gets old.  The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the views from our lanai were beautiful.  It is not a "Disneyland" resort, so if you and your children need to be entertained, then this may not be the hotel for you.  But for those of us just looking to relax amid palm trees and good food, then this is the place.

Relaxing location and great service

We've been to the Mauna Lani five times and plan to continue to return. We look forward to starting the day with their wonderful breakfast buffet and then relaxing by the beach where we can read, rest, or enjoy watching the whales in the distance. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful and always make us feel welcome. When we choose to be more active, we enjoy walks along the beach or hitting tennis balls on their hard surface courts. Mostly, it's simply a great place to relax.

A great hotel in the perfect place

By: Susan

Reviewed on: 26 Nov 2017

We spent 12 nights in a deluxe ocean front room and loved it. Our room was comfortable, the staff accommodating and pleasant. We heard the hotel has been sold and some changes will be made and we hope that includes a room refresh which is needed. The only negative for us is the lack of a casual outdoor restaurant that serves dinner. The property has 2 outstanding ocean front dinner restaurants but when a casual salad or burger appeals, that option closes at 6pm. Mauna Lani is our favorite Hawaii hotel because it maintains a high level of "sense of place". It is clear that one is in Hawaii from the open air design of the hotel to the well-maintained ancient Hawaiian fish ponds on the grounds, to the nightly Hawaiian music and hula dancer in the lobby to "Turtle Independence Day". Other properties might be more luxurious but they could be any place. Mauna Lani just oozes island charm and authenticity.

A relaxing vacation based on outstanding service

We continue to return to the Mauna Lani Hotel for several reasons. However, the primary one (outside of the location) is the outstanding personal service from everyone on the staff. In addition, the resort is large enough that, if we want some time to ourselves without hearing what our neighbors are saying, we can easily find a suitable plus. Finally, there are many details that enhance the visit and that the hotel continues each year.
