Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel

A member of National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, this intimate Andean village with 83 casitas is tucked away in the Machu Picchu Cloudforest, with stunning views of exquisite natural beauty. In-house à la carte excursions lead guests to explore megabiodiversity within hotel grounds, including 214 bird species, the world's largest native orchid collection (372 species), the bear rescue center and the tea plantation under the shade. The Unu Spa has a mystical Andean approach; the first-class restaurants face the rumbling Vilcanota River, while sharing the secrets of Peruvian cuisine with a contemporary twist.

Hotel Tip

Gorgeous property, wonderful staff

We added an extra day in Aguas Calientes to provide time to enjoy many of the included activities at Inkaterra. The property is gorgeous and offers terrific birdwatching opportunities. The orchid garden was not in full bloom during our visit (May) but there were still many outstanding specimens to enjoy. Because we booked through Suzette Mack, a Virtuoso agent, we were treated to a complimentary massage and free upgrade - a very nice benefit after climbing Huayna Picchu. A lovely place to relax and enjoy nature in the middle of a 3-week trip.
