Our Commitment
- A full-time Environment & Sustainability Manageris responsible for achieving annual goals in cooperation with all departments, directly engaging staff in implementation and documentation of Sustainability nitiatives.
- Permaculture: 3 hectares of vegetable and herb gardenslocated within Jimbaran Bay resort grounds, and 1 hectare within Sayan resort. More than 25 varieties of vegetables, herbs, spices and fruitsfor cooking classes at both resorts, and fruit tonics for Sundara’s cocktails. On-site ricefields at Sayan harvest more than 4 tonnes of rice per year which is provided to the local community.
- Jimbaran’s Food & Beverage team source fair trade coffee from Su-re.co, a farmer’s cooperative in North Bali. Su-re.co has been recognised at the UN Climate Change Conference for its work helping coffee farmers fight climate change, adopt clean energyincluding compost-fuelled biogas,and increase their income. A Su-re.co coffee demonstration is also part of classes at Jala Cooking Academy.
- Food waste separationat restaurants and staff canteen; donatedto a local farm as animal feed.
- Preservation of Bali’s arts heritage through Ganesha Cultural Centre, providing guests with the opportunity to meet anddo workshops with local artists from around the island; painting, weaving, carving, dance/music and more
