WOW - Highly Recommended

Our travel agent had recommended the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui. I had been to Wailea before and wanted a great hotel to celebrate a milestone anniversary. WOW, can't imagine our 6-night stay being any better than what it was! We liked the room and my wife loved the oversized bathtub. We got an upgraded room and it was better than expected! We dined at Nick's Fishmarket which we liked but we completely loved Ko. The concierge staff - we can't speak highly enough of them. From all the pre-trip arrangements to all their help while we were there to the reminders they left us the night before our next day's excursion to their recommendations, they were all fabulous. The concierge got us a rsvp at Mama's. We got seated a little late but it was worth the wait - a prime table right at the front windows! You might say that this is what is expected at a highly rated hotel but their level of service was something we hadn't experienced before. We will return in the future? Definitely!!!

Just returned from a lovely trip to the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui, and couldn't be happier. Our arrival was late and yet we were met with a happy friendly bellman, a front desk clerk who was gracious and accommodating, and a lovely spacious room. The beds were comfy, the pillows perfect and the scenery was beautiful. We both managed to use the Willow Spa while we were there which was heavenly. Our entire stay was wonderful. The hardest decision we had to make during our visit was which pool to sit at - and of course there's the gorgeous beach. I would definitely return to the Fairmont - it was wonderful.

Fabulous! The suites are spacious and comfortable and very quiet. The hotel staff is friendly, welcoming and among the most professional we've ever met. The housekeeping staff greeted us by name in the hallways and made sure (without being asked) that the coffees, teas, and bathroom supplies were stocked with what we liked. When we complained about smelling cigarette smoke from a guest somewhere in our wing, the hotel staff acted immediately to identify the guest and speak to them about hotel policy and Hawaii State law. The water/tea station in the lobby is a hospitable touch. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and the omelette chefs are to be praised for their professional service and excellent cooking. Grounds, public areas and rooms are immaculate. We would definitely recommend this hotel (and already have!) and would go back there.

The suites were perfect for our family of 6 , the food healthy and tasty but best of all was the service by every single staff member from the housekeeping staff to the front desk- genuine warmth and a desire to help and please their guests. But the partial view of the ocean was really a partial view of the Maui Mountains through the tops of palm trees. It was sweet to hear the birds but we had expected to hear and see some ocean from our balconys. But the warm and service of the property made up for this disappointment .

The KeaLani hotel is it an outdated old lady in bad need of refurbishing all of its suites. The rooms, while large have many shortcomings. The sinks in the main powder room are ridiculous for today’s day and age. There is virtually no Storage or proper cupboard facilities. I counted in our suite had as many as seven or eight doorways leading in and out of living areas. A modernization is long overdue. No proper storage facility for suitcases. The shower area is completely exposed and needs a door. In short, it is not worth $1500 per night. It is a much overrated and overpriced facility which I would not recommend to any traveler. There must be a better value and much more suitable properties somewhere on the island.

We choose the Fairmont because they have the best hotel beach in Maui and it’s amazing for kids. We have spent time on many islands and have found the water, waves, sand, etc. at the Fairmont to be easy and approachable for adults and children alike. The hotel is super kid friendly. My 6 year old son loves the water slide. The staff are great. The restaurants are very good. The rooms are spacious and the top floor balcony views are stunning.

We stayed 5 nights at Fairmont Kea Lani Maui in December 2019. We were there during one of the busiest times of the year. It was clear the resort was busy, but a very high level of quality was delivered nonetheless. The pools were beautiful, and poolside service was good. The beach was small but very nice, and free equipment was available for use. We were able to snorkel right off the beach and saw a green turtle right away. The spa is high quality, and the options at breakfast were plentiful. We’re we to travel to Maui again, we would definitely stay at the Fairmont.

The Fairmont was lovely. We had a spacious room. The grounds are beautiful with ample area for pool or beach lounging. The staff was extremely friendly, especially at breakfast and pool service. Matt continued to call us by name. Impressive! Truthfully it has nothing to do with the Fairmont, it is just that Maui is much more crowded. I felt badly for the staff at breakfast. At breakfast guests would leave the chaffing dishes open. The food would get cold. No fault of the Fairmont. And the area for the buffet was a bit tight and difficult to navigate with the number of guests. But I'm being picky. The room was wonderful, as was the staff. Maui is just that much busier.

From the breakfast buffet to the morning walks along the coastline...this is one amazing hotel. Not to mention the daily evening celebration of the sunset. This resort at night is BEYOND AMAZING! The location of the restaurants and lounge on the property is ideal, and it is a stunning property. The expansive indoor/outdoor lobby with the grand staircase and ocean view is one of my favorite features. We observed a Hawaiian ritual and discovered how to make a lei. With a separate living room, a sizable bedroom, and a bathroom, the rooms are all suites, which is unique. There are chairs and umbrellas set up for you at the beach access, which is just a few steps down. We rented a boogie board, bought a $10 sand castle-making kit—well worth the investment for a 3-year-old—and enjoyed chatting in the ocean with other guests with amazing pina colada-filled pineapples.

Showing Its Age

By: Momwithmanyroles

Reviewed on: 07 Jun 2023

The Fairmont Kea Lani is in a beautiful private location and had the perfect beach for young children. The surf was never too strong and the waves broke quite far out. Beach chairs and umbrellas were available for guest at no additional charge. The extra suite space was generous and allowed us to spread out. Appreciated the microwave and mini fridge. Great for keeping a few snacks. The suite had a nice sized balcony with a table for four so we could enjoy a meal together in our room. For a luxury resort, the following aspects of Fairmont Kea Lani was disappointing and below expectations: 1. Service at breakfast was nonexistent. In the mornings, it was a long wait to be served coffee/tea/juice, then another wait for refills. The coffee was bad and inedible which is unacceptable. 2. Hotel is showing its age and not well maintained. The suite appears to be brand new, but the kids wading pool has large chunks of missing/broken tiles.
