Sustainability
Our Commitment
Driven by a personal passion and the belief that tourism is a force for good the team at the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) is committed to making sustainable tourism an integral part of our marketing strategy. As part of this commitment, in 2018 JTB partnered with Tourism Cares to launch the Meaningful Travel Map of Jordan that features a number of non-profit organizations and social enterprises that are alongside some of the major touristic sites that provide a unique insight into the spirit and people of Jordan. The goal of this initiative is to help micro and small business owners located in local communities to benefit from tourism dollars, and provides them and their families with an additional source of income while offering travelers meaningful experiences and a chance to connect and travel deeper with the country’s culture, history, sites and people. We continue to work diligently on educating travelers and our travel trade partners on how they can and should incorporate these meaningful experiences into their itineraries. Further to this, and in support of sustainable practices to minimize our environmental impact for our children and future generations, as an organization we have already begun implementing plans to eliminate single-plastic use in our own offices and on our hosted press and travel trade familiarization trips, we continue to educate travelers on best practices when visiting the archaeological sites and are working on a plan to offset carbon emissions.
