Sustainability
Our Commitment
Hotel Marques de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Elciego, Spain has installed a solar panel roof on the entire spa wing providing power for the Elciego Bodega and Hotel complex. 961 solar photovoltaic solar panels were installed generating a saving of 30% in energy consumption of the hotel. 30% savings of electricity was the plan but there are days where they save 100%. Starting April 2023 an additional 1740 solar panels have been installed on the roof of the winery. The hotel offers a breakfast tasting menu by a Michelin star chef instead of a buffet in order to reduce waste. Bio waste is collected and recycled by the hotel and converted it into natural fertilizer for its garden. Of course the hotel is almost plastic free, no straws, no plastic bottles but using filtered water fountains for the guests and staff alike. The bathroom amenities are residential size, plastic bags have been replaced by linen bags made of recycled bedsheets and of course coffee capsules, paper, glass and plastic waste is collected for recycling. The hotel is in the process of receiving a green key certification shortly.
