A Voyage You Will Remember

My wife and I had a fantastic trip on the upper Amazon with International Expeditions aboard La Estrella Amazonica. The ship is three years old; it’s beautiful, spacious and spotless. The rooms are air conditioned and with the ship movement breeze and the overhead fans the outdoor areas are very comfortable. The food was excellent on board! The fresh fruits were unbelievable as were the juices made from them. The Chef's Peruvian recipes were fantastic. You can’t beat the fresh vegetables and the Peruvian spices (not hot – flavorful). The entire IE team is totally committed to ensuring that the guests enjoy every minute of their Amazon Adventure! Lots of attention was paid to "special" treats. Our team leader Angel Cardenas, and our two naturalists (Juan Tejada & Usiel Vasquez) were absolutely wonderful, they are very enthusiastic, bright, knowledgeable, & obviously love their jobs. Make sure that you travel with IE on La Estrella Amazonica. You will have an unbelievable experience.

Mechanical malfuncction

We were to travel on La Estrella Amazonica for a week. As we were en route from the LIma hotel to the airport to fly to Iquitos, we found out that La Estrella had a mechanical malfunction and that we would not be able to travel on the boat. We were rebooked on two other Amazon river boats, which worked out well, but it did mean changing boats half way through the week. This wasn't the holiday that we anticipated, but I do think we saw all the same things.

We had a great time however I was slightly disappointed with level of service & meals onboard this cruise. Very disappointed that they did not have sufficient supplies of white wine & the meals were very repetitive.
