We were pleased with the choices of hotels and tours we had with A&K. Our tour guides were very well informed and interesting and competent. Our only problem arose with the descriptions on our itinerary. They differed a bit from what we were expecting. I feel that the itinerary they sent us was a standardized description for everyone, but not us explicitly. Other than that, our trip was full of fun moments, great hotels and great restaurant recommendations and I would use A&K again.

We spent a couple of great weeks in Africa. The service was great as we were escorted from the time we left until we boarded the plane for home. We experienced many different accommodations in our travels and none were unsatisfactory. Our traveling companions needed electric power all night for a breathing machine, and were supplied with electricity everywhere. One camp could not supply electricity all night, and we were moved to a site that could. Very good service.

We used A&K for a tour of South America. The accommodations and tour guides were excellent. However, our tour ended in Brazil on a national holiday weekend. The crowds at Iguazu Falls and Rio were substantial causing long delays. For example, our viewing of the "Christ the Redeemer" statue was re-scheduled from Saturday to Sunday and it rained constantly that day (our last) causing poor visibility, so we were unable to see this most important site.

We just returned from a weeks vacation in Morocco with A and K. The itinerary was fine and the country is extremely beautiful. However, we did not not have a great guide. The first two days he took us to lunch at these places where there were only tourists and the server REFUSED to give us a menu. We were inclined to trust that the guide took us to a decent place so we went with the 'set' menu only to find that we were horribly ripped off. A similar scenario happened the next day until we complained to A and K. The restaurant problem improved but after that there were a few other situations where we felt ripped off. Additionally, the guide's knowledge and general interest in our having a good time seemed low. Bottom line: Others had told us that when in Morocco it seems like you have to constantly be on guard and we were hoping that going with a company like A and K would have better shielded us from this.

My wife and I just returned from an extraordinary trip to Egypt. My advice: take this trip at the next available opportunity. A&K lived up to their gold standard reputation. Their ogranization, support, professionalism, lodging, food--all excellent. What attracted us most were the sites chosen to visit, and they were, of course, spectacular. Our Egyptologist/guide, Wael, was superb: enormously knowledgeable, passionate, funny, great rapport--in other words, the best kind of teacher. What we had not anticipated was the collegiality and energy of our group. We woke up each morning looking forward to spending time with these people. This was a wonderful trip.

A & K are extremely professional. Nothing but 1st rate service each time we are in their care. They are very good at changes on the fly if necessary. Their staff are knowledgeable, very polite, and come as advertised. They DO know the secrets of the cities we have shared with them, and St. Petersburg is no exception. Once again, true to the adage, you get what you pay for. They do come at premium rates, that are justified by the premium service. On a trip such as we took it is easy to compare prices and services with other guests that took "similar" ground tours. While we did pay considerably more, we also got considerably more. One other great thing was the fact that they handled all Russian visa requirements, removing that burden from us. Thanks A & K for making a great trip even greater.

This was our first trip with A&K and we would definitely recommend to anyone. They guided us through every step of this journey - and when visiting a country like Egypt and I think it is also the only way to travel and feel entirely safe. Laila our Egyptologist was very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful throughout. We had upgraded our room on the Sunboat to the Presidential Suite. When we checked in they upgraded us again to the Royal Suite given it had not been booked! Hugely appreciated. It will be hard not to want to book this on another trip! Many thanks to all.

We traveled with A & K to China and the Yang Tse. We had a great tour guide,Jason Lee who took great care of our group! He is friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The local tour guides were also great and added more information and color to the places we visited. The hotels were all 5 star as far as we are concerned. The meals were always a feast! Mira took us to the airport when it was time to leave and she stayed with us until we have checked in our luggage and were on our way to immigration. All in all an excellent trip!

Grenada accommodations -poor check in considering advance notice Marabella- dirty, small, dated not even 3 star quality of room Seville- good quality but way too small for two Local tour guides - outstanding, knowledgable, passionate, great ambassadors Food- very good except for crazy crab in Barcelona which was poor Transportation - air and train excellent. Bus transport could be improved - offer something more than just water, washrooms or pace the tour so that this does not become a wait for your guests. Disembarment help was sadly lacking and compared to other tours we have been on a huge disappointment. Also incident of observing the bus driver arguing with the tour director when he should be meeting her needs. Tour director- very good. It is asking a lot for one person to meet the needs of 22 people. We had an incident of the bus driving off without a passenger early in the tour and I don't think this would happen with a smaller group Overall very enjoyable

Mostly overpriced bus trips

most of the tours offered were look out the window bus rides. The tour descriptions oversold what was actually presented. For instance on a tour to what was advertized as a "bird Island," we found no birds. They had left two to three weeks earlier as they always do. But this was not noted in the brochure Most adventurous Travelers would do better personally and save money designing their own tours from the internet.

Barge trip - Renaissance Loire/Burgundy

This was a lovely trip. Not having done a barge trip we did not have specific expectations but did want to see the more rural and traditional side of France. The trip accomplished that. The barge was comfortable, the crew very responsive and helpful and the food and wine very good. We would do it again. One small suggestion - perhaps the barge could offer some sort of picnic lunch that the guests could take with them on shore excursions as opposed to returning to the barge for lunch. We are walkers and bikers so the ability to take lunch and meet the barge at the evening mooring would be nice. In fairness, I am confident that the crew would have responded to such a request - we didn't think to ask until too late in the trip but might have had the option been offered earlier. That was our fault, not the barge's. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and will probably do another one.

The Egyptologist that A&K used for this trip, was knowledgeable and interesting for all the guests on the trip. The sites selected were excellent. The only problem on this trip was some of the very, very early flight times on the internal trips. While I realize that it was the best they could do, I would hope that some small changes in the routing might have been done to give us a later flight time.

Honestly our experience with And K was very mixed while we were traveling 1 guide was excellent 1 was bad and one did not show up. However they were extremely accommodating when they were made aware of the issues. Not every guide will have a great day every day and we understand that but A and K far exceeded my expectations on what they did to try and make it up to us. Their behavior was so virtuous that it as convinced me that our unpleasant encounters really must have been an anomaly and I would give them another try.

Abercrombie's Luxury Small Group Journey turned out to be a vacation I would remember for all the wrong reasons. It was small but "luxury" it was not, (3 Hotels were what I felt I paid for and expected) the other 3 were horrible hotels with the lowest class of rooms, including the smell of sewage and street noise all night long. We had guide who was barely understandable and seemed disinterested and not connected to her work like she was going through the motions, and a poorly planned overdone trip which had as riding in a bus for hours on end to get from one tourist stop to the other. We came back exhausted, disappointed and glad to be home. No value for money here.

If you want a trip with ALL of the details taken care of for you, go with A&K. If you want extremely knowledgeable tour guides who tailor your trip to your wants and needs, go with A&K. They put together our trip to Peru with wonderful places that we never would have found on our own. They provide a detailed itinerary in advance but are perfectly willing to change the plans on the fly during your trip. The guides all spoke perfect English and were extremely well versed in the local culture. We will definitely use A&K again.

An excellent trip with outstanding guides. Our tour leader, Gabor Kovacs, was one of the best--perhaps THE best--tour leader we ever have had. Although we had some reservations about the beauty of this area, we were surprised with the beauty of the entire area we visited. Of course, the history of Berlin hade the trip even more enjoyable.

It was a great trip. We had a good mix of cultural and religious sites, shopping, eating, etc. and Alami, our guide, was fantastic! The hotels were generally great -- especially the Sirhai in Fez -- but the Sofitel Hotels in Casablanca and Rabat were not great. Need to rethink those as they were dirty, huge (Rabat) and not comparable to the ones we stayed at in Fez and Marrakesh. Otherwise, the pace was good, you had some down time but plenty to do. The Atlas Mountains day trip was fantastic! All around, a great trip!

Paula Kay arranged a "tailor-made" (i.e., independent) tour of Chile with A&K. With the exception of being met in the Santiago airport by an A&K rep, who whisked us to a connecting flight (extremely helpful at SCL), we never had any contact at all with A&K. On our return to SCL, the place was a complete zoo, and we would have benefitted from more rep help. The Alto Atacama hotel in San Pedro de Atacama where we stayed was wonderful. We highly recommend the place.

As this was our first trip with A & K we were pleasantly surprised to feel totally comfortable with the itinerary and accommodations provided. The guides were very knowledgeable and provided information in such a way that we could understand and felt our questions were answered to our satisfaction. The days were long and there was an abundance of information provided, but the hotels that we stayed in provided an restful atmosphere in which we were able to restore ourselves for the next day's adventures.

Our pre-trip itinerary and supporting documentation was marketed as if the trip was pre-scheduled and would be worry-free. Upon arriving in Cape Town, itinerary items had been adjusted and removed, and we were left scrambling late at night after long international travel to call and get our itinerary fixed. The itinerary we received upon arrival was vastly simplified. Our guides, who were all excellent, had been tasked with coordinating many activity logistics instead of having the pre-scheduled itinerary that we were promised. Even after being promised by them that our itinerary would be restored to the one that we booked, wine tastings were not pre-scheduled, we did not get to do a bike ride that had been promised, and our first full day in the country was limited to a half-day rather than the full day promised in the itinerary. Also, A&K never communicated the timing of hotel and airport transfers and "made it up to us" by simply sending a bottle of sparkling wine to our hotel room.

Our tour coordinator Amr Nabil made sure everything ran smoothly from the time we arrived until we headed home again. That was no small feat as we visited several cities and took several domestic flights within Egypt. Laila Abdel Raouf was our guide for Cairo and the surrounding sites, and she was fabulous! Our driver Khaled handled the traffic with aplomb and drove us to busy urban sites, as well as more distant towns in comfort. The A&K staff really deserve extra kudos!

Our experience with Abercrombie & Kent was fabulous! We knew before traveling with A&K that they were an excellent tour company but our experience surpassed our expectations. The representatives that picked us up at the airport and transported us to different destinations were professional, courteous and helpful. The accommodations were superb. We really liked that the 3 camps we stayed at were each comfortable and unique. The staff at the camps were amazing! The staff are welcoming and accommodating and very professional. The meals and snacks were delicious and nutritious. The tents were luxurious and romantic. The views and scenery at each camp was breathtaking. Our guides that drove us on the safaris were so knowledgeable, patient and conscientious. Our guides, Abdul and Emmanuel, made the trip so enjoyable and memorable. This is our third trip on Safari with A & K. Everything went very well and they were there when we needed and expected them to be this making the trip most enjoyable and less stressful. My only complaint would be in the communication with several of the agents in the Chicago office. I lost patience but worked through Deb Knopf, our travel agent, and all worked out. They seemed to take forever to respond to requests and one was particularly curt with her responses. Having owned a travel agency and having been a travel agent earlier in my career ( I am now retired), I am well aware of what to expect in form of response time, etc. and/or even checking back to indicate they needed more time. I also expected more detail for some of the responses as the itinerary was complex and required more detail for the response. In Africa everyone was wonderful and very professional and we could not have been more pleased.

Our Peru adventure was seamless with A&K. The arrival of our “book of adventures” (as I like to call it) was a great summary of everything we neede to know. We especially appreciated the tipping guide. It’s always hard to know what’s appropriate. But the one thing that made our experience truly remarkable was our guide, Frances. He is exceptional in so many ways- from our initial meeting to his knowledge of the flora and fauna (especially birds) as well as the history and details of each area that we visited. We’ve never encountered an individual that knew so much about everything! He was quick to engage our 10 year old daughter in everything we did. She loved him as much as we did! He is a remarkable individual and a true asset to the A&K team. Well done Frances!!

We have chosen a total of 4 trips with A&K over the last few years. We traveled in Africa, Indochina and China with them. Accommodations, Tour Directors and Local tour guides were all knowledgeable and well organized. We always felt safe and cared for. Any problems that came up were dealt with in a timely manner.. We went to major tourist areas in a well planned way to best avoid the majority of the crowds. Transfers were smooth and our luggage was handled efficiently. We feel there was a good balance of free time and activity. If you wanted to return to hotel early, that was arranged when possible.

This trip was flawless. The weather perfect, tons of cherry blossoms, the best hotels ever, the tour guides were great. All was clean and on time. The other folks on the trip were well traveled and easy to be with. Japanese food was not my favorite, but they went overboard serving me meat instead of fish with every meal. Complete accolades for Duncan. A&K USA referred me to use CIBT for our China visa. I do not think CIBT was very good. They charged too much for their services. I prepared our application on line and found out later there was an additional charge.

AK provided a very nice itinerary that was within our budget expectations and was developed to meet our interests. There was some challenge in conveying the needs of our children, specifically that our children were seasoned travelers who could handle a more adult level itinerary of interests and daily schedule of activities. With that being said, we were able to incorporate a number of hands-on activities that were appropriately interesting and engaging. Our guides were excellent - knowledgeable, engaging, and well mannered. We always felt safe and always felt that our guide knew what to do, and had done it before, with many tricks of the trade to make our adventure trouble-free.

This was our first experience with Abercrombie & Kent. I cannot say enough great things about this company. We had an awesome experience in Australia. ALL of our guides were wonderful and extremely knowledgeable regarding their aspect of our tour. We met some really nice people who went above and beyond for our family. Ken (Australia Zoo) and Peter (Great Ocean Road) felt like family by the end of the day. My girls wanted to see Mamma Mia in Melbourne but it was sold out. Peter made some calls and made it happen. We had house seats on the 7th row. It was a great ending to an awesome trip.

The tour itself was great, however the logistics were not. A&K booked our internal flights from the A&K pre-trip to Victoria Falls to the start of the regular tour in Nairobi, Kenya. Instead of booking a short afternoon direct flight from Zambia to Kenya, they had us travel 2 flights leaving in the morning; the first back to South Africa with a layover, then on to Kenya. This took a half day from our pre-trip and left us exhausted for the start of our tour. When we finally arrived there was no A&K representative to meet us at the airport in Kenya. We had to call A&K to locate them in the parking lot while others on our tour were met in airport. We were not delivered to the hotel until after midnight. We booked this trip over a year in advance including the pre-trip, so there was no excuse for this flight schedule. I don't feel the 3 day pre-trip was worth the money charged as we only got 1.5 days.

The trip started out poorly when we got to the Canopy Hilton in Reyjkavic. There were no porters, the front desk was not very helpful. No one seemed in charge. They could not tell us where to meet our tour guide for our 6pm briefing. Sleeping was very difficult as there was a tremendous amount of outside noise. I was in two different rooms on different sides and both were so noisy outside, sleep did not happen. Many people in our group felt the same way. Once we left Reyjkavic, it was a wonderful trip. Our guide, Halifi (sp) was fabulous and the places we went were not overcrowded and seemed very special. I'm usually a cruise person, but Iceland cruising is no where near as good as a land tour especially going into the interior. There were a lot of special moments, such as the glacier, the Super Jeep experience, the whale watching, the black beach and of course, all the waterfalls. I really appreciated the luxury of the bus and the fact that it had charging stations and wifi.

This was our 3rd trip with A&K but my husband and I didn't feel it was up to their usual standards. Two of the four hotels were lacking in amenities. Lunches, with one exception, were pretty meager and not very good. Our guide was okay, not great. The last night's farewell dinner was held in a noisy restaurant and our group of 15 was split into two tables. It would have been nice to have a private room for this dinner. We hope this is just an exception to A&Ks usual fine service. We didn't feel it was worth the money. We would still recommend A&K based on our previous two trips.

Our tour guide in Beijing was very energetic and once we arrived, he thoughtfully organized the sights on our itinerary according to the best way to do it all in the short amount of time we had. Our tour guide in Hong Kong was great and gave us all the history of the different sights, however, the first day felt like he was trying to fill the time before we went off to lunch on our own. The third day, he and the driver were kind enough to drive us first to the airport hotel and then onto Lantau to see the big Buddha and temple. Afterwards, they drove us to Kowloon to tour on our own.

Most of our Africa trip went well. That said, A&K totally botched one leg of the trip by failing to notice that plane tickets issued on that leg were issued for the wrong day. This resulted in a 7 hour layover in the Nairobi airport to catch a flight that got us to our destination at 3:30am. Mistakes happen, but A&K’s attitude was to trivialize the impact on my wife and I and take a position of “no harm, no foul. We still got you there, so what’s the big deal. They originally offered nothing for our troubles, then $200, then $800. You pay a premium for their service and reputation, and they did not earn it on our trip—either through action or attitude.

A&K provides you with beautiful properties, excellent activities and excellent dining. The downside is the guides are very nice but lack the engagement of enthusiasm of knowledge in getting a feel of their country. In Tokyo and Kyoto their recommendations for dining on a couple evenings was the hotel. They could have put a list together of other good restaurants. I did not think we needed a night in Osaka. Kyoto could have been given the extra day.

The only draw back was dealing with Visa Central which A&K recommended as to obtaining the Visas for Kenya & Tanzania. The issue was not with A&K but Visa Central. Otherwise a very good experience.

Our guides were all knowledgeable and helpful. We really enjoyed visiting with and learning from them. We had three different guides to assist with visits to Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Aconcagua. All provided a different perspective on the country based on their own experiences and interest. Our Mendoza guide, Mike was a wine expert and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing and his willingness to share about the wine country. Vanessa and Paola were great too. One minor complaint would be the cost of transfers...definitely on the high side but that is on us for not being more attentive to the cost. In the future, I would probably handle on my own depending on the country as it would have saved us some $$. Overall a great experience..

I never thought I would write that A&K is a good value, but my trip to Antarctica proved that it is! The quality of accommodations and proficient staff helped to make the trip truly one to remember. They also were careful about our safety which is important due to the changing weather conditions. The itinerary was amazing beyond words; there was so much wildlife and scenery to appreciate!

Our Kenya / Tanzania safari was well organized, and more than met expectations. Guides, drivers and actual safaris were great, and we saw the "big five", and a plethora of other animals up close, while getting the background on each from the guide. Accommodation was five star, as was food and service. Hard to beat.

We were incredibly impressed with every aspect of the trip from the staff to the accommodations to the level of coordination. And don't get me started on Antarctica's incredible beauty. excellent safari guides were excellent,lodges were excellent food was good, beds were excellent. Most lodges have air conditioning 4out of 6 Safari guides joseph was excellent very knowledgeable and very friendly .roads in Kenya and Tanzania are very very bumpy ,your usually out daily for at least 8 hours make sure your back is in good shape. Lots and lots of animals up close and far away. lodges were very nice to excellent staffs were very friendly and attentive great locations excellent views.

We had excellent guidance and service from the tour coordinator and our guide who is an Egyptologist! The accommodations in Cairo at the Marriott Mena House Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel were outstanding! We had first-class treatment, and all the plans were carried out seamlessly. The visits to the pyramids, temples, mosques and specialty stores and restaurants were interesting and well-planned.

It was an excellent tour. The itinerary, hotels, food and attractions were well chosen and were superb. Our guide ran the trip without a hitch throughout. He was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Our group jelled together in a few days, never an argument, nobody ever late. The only glitch on the tour was a full day trip to the tiger reserve from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm by train (which was late), and by bus on narrow, pot hold roads. Very tiring for a bunch of old people, and I am not sure if it was worth it.

From the time we touched down in Nairobi to the time we left, two weeks later, the people and staff of A&K were wonderful. We loved all our safari drivers and guides. Our Guardian Angel, Steve, was so helpful and always making sure we were taken care of, checking in on us, and dealing with the new Covid protocols. Truly wonderful. Our experience in Iceland working with A&K through their Icelandic group was terrific. The custom itinerary was perfect because it allowed for flexibility based on weather conditions and offered us the ability to see a lot of this stunning country in 8 days. Upon arrival A&K took care of every aspect of our trip to Egypt setting the stage for the remainder of the trip. They breezed us through customs, baggage, whisked us into a van after midnight to our hotel, checked us in, ensured our room was satisfactory. Nothing was left to chance during our trip thanks to the tour director, Ahmed Ismail. Their Egyptologist, Laila Abd El Raouf, was amazing - not a single question stumped her nor was she impatient with the multitude of questions. Our tour visited nearly all of the important and spectacular sites throughout Egypt and she accompanied us to them all, including Nile cruise. We arrived prior to our official tour, they arranged for us to attend the Pyramid light show, a wonderful experience. A&K knows which vendors to trust, how to manuever the chaotic traffic, how to ensure we all felt safe, etc. They have a multitude of people working for them, all friendly and accomodating. We will absolutely do more trips with them.

We had a fantastic time in the desert southwest on our private A&K trip. We will cherish our memories from that week. There are a couple items which we thought could be improved. A&K indicated in the trip itinerary that we were responsible for tipping and gave us guideline amounts. For the price of the trip we thought that tipping should be covered by A&K. Additionally, some excursion operators indicated to us that A&K had taken care of tipping. Needless to say we were confused. We also experienced miscommunication between A&K and the tour operators regarding pick-ups. On the evening before one excursion the operator called and said they did not do "pick-ups" from the location we were staying. In the end we got a ride, but we were surprised that this had not been worked out before. Again, we had a fantastic time on this trip. The excursions were amazing. However, without these miscommunications would have made for a better experience.

A&K performed at the high level that is consistent with its well-earned reputation. I don't know if or how much extra it may cost to go with them but it is worth every penny. The trip was certainly organized and the accommodations more than comfortable but what is most valuable is the knowledge and expertise that results in opportunities to see and experience the maximum amount possible while still feeling relaxed and unstressed.

My travel agent communicated with Asma in the Arusha, Tanzania office. Asma was always very responsive and did a fabulous job in giving instructions about applying for the travel visa and the necessary health documents. She communicated with the three lodges where we stayed to be sure some of my desires were taken care of……way beyond what I could have hoped for. She helped my travel agent arrange some special birthday surprises for me. One thing way above the call of duty thing she did was arrange a meeting with the mayor of Arusha when I asked if we could drop off some gifts from our town to his town. She made it happen and accompanied us to that meeting where we were treated like very prominent guests. She did many favors beyond that to help in lots of small and big ways. Now…..our A & K guide….Jeremiah……PRIMO, A+, top-notch! I am quite certain that he is the best guide employed by A & K, and we were very fortunate to have him to educate us about so many things in Tanzania.

A&K - Machu Picchu - Amazing!

This was our first trip with A&K, but certainly not our last. From the moment we arrived in Lima and were greeted by an A&K reprepresentative, we were treated like royalty. Our tour leader, Marcial, was friendly, professional, organized and very smart. He was with us throughout the trip. We also had another tour guide with us for part of the trip who served as a content expert. His knowledge based was impressive, and he was so friendly, too. The itinerary was fantastic. It was a great mix of food, culture and fun activities to keep everyone interested, excited and learning. The hotels couldn't be beat - exceptional level and unique features that made each one special. There are many ways to see Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, but I am so happy that I experienced with A&K. A&K packacked this adventure perfectly!

Was disappointed in the trip. Only one local guide. No menu choices for a number of lunches. No beverage choices. We were told not to book a return flight home till after 12 noon, which we did, because they could not guarantee we would make it to the airport in time to catch our flight. A number of people booked their flight prior to 10 am and transportation to the airport was provided to them. We were told we could either wait at the airport for 8 hours or be taken to the hotel in Calgary and then make our own way to the airport. We spent the time in Calgary and then paid our own way to the airport. The hotel in Jasper was inadequate to handle the heat. Room never cooled off. If there is another record heat in Jasper another hotel should be booked. Maybe one more day should be added so everyone can be transported to the airport from Calgary.

We would not recommend using them for the Galapagos trip. The trip was sold as a small group of max 18 people. When we arrived in Galapagos we were told our sip LaPinta held 48 people and we would be meeting other tour groups to share our ship with us. That was a surprise and not what we signed up for. We have not travelled with them before and we will not use them again.

A&K Villas was fantastic. Our villa was beautiful- everything we hoped it would be from the photos and descriptions we'd seen, and the villa manager was wonderful, too. We had a minor issue with ants in the kitchen at the beginning of our stay, but the villa manager took care of it promptly. She (Daria, with Villa Saletta) also helped us with dinner reservations and tips on the area's out-of-the-way and less touristy options. The A&K rep in Italy was also very very good, helping us arrange a horseback riding excursion, which she explained was not a popular or common choice, and not easy to find. We would definitely use A&K again!

Our guide was excellent and tried to make sure we had a good time which we did. Our rooms were lovely, but Our accommodations were not as promised on the last night of the trip. I had to call my travel agent to make sure we had the suites we had paid for when we signed our contract.

We have traveled 12 times with A&K and something has happened to them. No longer are they the best of the best. They have no one answering the phones and retuning calls. We stayed both in Cairns and Ft Morsbey in sub A&K hotels, had only 1 plane that seated 8 for our 12 people , so wew were always waiitng. When we got back, I went on line and learned that Mr. kent sold out and only owns 15 % of the company. I doubt they will be in business very long. Everyone one on our trip had traveled multible times with them and we all agreed, things have changed, and not for the best.

We have taken a number of A&K guided tours (and also many Tauck) and found this one to be sub par and not representative of A&K standards. Although the itinerary was good, we felt they did not provide value for the money spent. The hotels were 3 star at best, often very small with uncomfortable beds and dysfunctional bathrooms. The bus was small and uncomfortable and we spent a lot of time in it. With that said, the Tour Director Daniella was lovely and most of the guides were excellent. Because of this overall experience however we will hesitate to use A&K again.

A Tour Company That Keeps Surpassing Our Expectations

When we were younger, my husband and I prided ourselves on planning every aspect of our global exploratory trips. Now in our 60's and traveling to even more exotic locales, we were introduced to Abercrombie & Kent by both our trustworthy Travel Partner, Valerie Ambrose, and A&K's great marketing program. We have especially enjoyed the 18-person, small-group trips that match our budget and expectations. We have just returned from an amazing trip to Turkey that has far exceeded our expectations (not an easy feat!). Despite the platinum accommodations through A&K (hotels bend over backwards for this tour company and its customers) as well as extremely comfortable private transportation throughout the trip, we feel that the guide makes the visit with their country-knowledge, historical depth, and local connections for prime experiences. A&K's representative in Turkey, Levant, is a top example of this important mission.

This trip was very complex and was very professionally arranged. The A&K staff on the ship worked tirelessly to provide a good experience. Our tour guide, Gabor made our trip. He was efficient and on top of every aspect. He was forward thinking. Our bus driver, Tom was excellent too. The guides he works with especially Sophie in Budapest were all excellent. He made all the difference in our trip experience. The Boat experience was NOT as as upscale sophisticated as we hoped. or The cabin and bathroom were very nice. The cruise director was ‘tacky’. The food and coffee were both bad! The fact that we were separated helped but on one day we got back as planned and had 4 minutes before dinner. They should have done dinner in shifts.

The entire tour was fantastic, everything was planned well, and we were taken care off from the minute we landed at the airport until we departed. Hotels were top notch and the food was exceptional. The first and last venues were terrific, but the boat on the Nile was not first class! The shower and bath were beyond tiny. There was no elevator for 5 floors. There should be many more food choices than Egyptian on the buffets -- maybe BLTs, grilled cheese, tomato/chicken noodle soup. There should be fewer buffets -- little protection from others breathing/touching foods. I thought the Nile trip had a smaller boat (under 18) and we have pvt guide. The touring program was set in stone for the group and no flexibility to see other sites, have tea at the Cataract Hotel, etc. Too many sites in too few hours. I thought this was personalized, not like a first trip to Europe bus trip. Tour guides took us to local vendors and pushed to buy -- yuck! A & K did not offer other options to see some, if not all, the sites along the Nile. This experience is romanticized by movies and Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile. Too many early morning flights --2 am is stupid or first class!

Exceptional Trip

Just completed a trip to Bhutan/Nepal with Abercrombie & Kent; including hiking to the “Tiger’s Nest”. The trip was incredible and the itinerary exceptional. Bhutan had just reopened and adjusted their travel restrictions after a lengthy COVID period of closure. Our trip had a few bumps in the road; but, the hotels, food, transportation, heritage sites and the natural wonders of both Bhutan and Nepal were amazing. Resident tour director, Mahesh Amatya, was wonderful with his insights into the Bhutanese and Nepalese cultures, history and the timeless realms of Buddhism in both countries. We have traveled with A&K several times over the years and it was important to us to feel secure, all the while having attentive service and comfort while enjoying the various sites, meeting the local people and learning about their cultures. A&K have provided us many trips over the years, to many to list and would encourage anyone wishing to experience something similar to consider A&K.

We went to Jordan and Israel with A&K in November and our experience was superb! We went from Jordan to Israel like travel in the Bible from Genesis to the New Testament. We went to multiple gorgeous destinies, nice hotels, delicious food, great culture and history, the integration and respect between three religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Our driver Firaz and guide Roberto at Jordan, driver Orabi and guide Ramzey at Israel were beyond our expectation. They were always taking care of us, explain every single question to the detail, always try to please us and make us feel secure. They took us to make shopping even after finishing the day, they made space in their personal schedule to please us. Now we have brothers from other mothers at Jordan and Israel. We highly recommended them and A&K without any reservation. PS. Last January, we went to Egypt with A&K, always impress with them!

We did a small luxury group trip that covered Luang Prabang, Bangkok, Siem Rep, A Mekong River cruise on the Mekong Princess and Saigon. I think A&K did a superb job immersing us in the culture and lifestyle of the region. Our guides were excellent and they did a great job meeting our flights and getting us through immigration and check ins via a VIP fast track. It was flawless and such a pleasure not to ever be concerned about our baggage. The hotels chosen were first class. Our only complaint was that the "ship", The Mekong Princess was very tired and in need of a complete renovation. Also, considering the climate we were traveling in, they should use a boat with a pool. We saw several along the way that were more modern and had pools. Supposedly all gratuities except our main guide ( who traveled with us throughout the trip) were taken care of. I was therefore a bit surprised to find a gratuity box with envelopes displayed the last 2 days of the cruise.

Raefela was the perfect guide for our private tours and Carlos was the brave driver of our comfortable van in Rio. Raefela gauged our interests as we toured various sites and adjusted the places we visited on the fly as she discovered things she thought we would like to see. Some of the most popular sites in Rio get very crowded with tourists this time of year, but Raefela timed our private tours to avoid crowds. In some cases, we were the only tourists there! Amazing! Our A&K package included staying at the lovely Janeiro Hotel right on Leblon beach and we would definitely stay there again. Everything was perfect!

We were very happy using Abercrombie and Kent. A & K had wonderful guides and while we stayed in several hotels, we felt that A & K had made it know that we were their customers and we felt we had specail attention. During our trip we had drivers who were knowledgeable and met us at all the designated places. We had English speaking tour guides who were stellar, except for 2 days of the trip. A & K, was made aware of our disappointment and issues and they fixed it, w/ highly educated tour guides which is their usual. They also reimbersed us for the 2 days of unsatisfactory tour guides. We feel we would definately use A & K again. We also had to travel on a Bullet train, which they provided first class tickets... and the guides brought us inside the train station and stayed with us until the train came, and also met us at the destination. Arranged for our luggage to be delivered. We were very happy with all the attention to details. Thank u 4 BD gift.

Our travel agent arranged a land trip with A&K from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro via Iguazu Falls. A&K did a marvelous job. Their guides were first rate; Romina in Buenos Aires, Luis and Willian in Iguazu Falls and Ana Raquel in Rio. Overall, we had a wonderful time and learned a lot about all of the places from our guides. During our tour on the Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls, our guide, Luis, would provide commentary and then go on ahead leaving us to ourselves. He said that he is leaving us alone to give us some private time. We told him that we prefer the guide to be with us and provide information. If we want privacy, we'd ask for it. It worked out well in the end.

I've had nothing but terrible times with A and K. 3 different trips and it's obvious they don't care about their customers, only their bottom line. Even when we emailed the president for help he had a sales agent get in touch with us to say "No"! All we hear from them is we can't do this or that without even trying to work things out! There is no free time to shop with 7 - 9 hour day excursions and shops they did take us to were extremely overpriced. Extremely grueling trip! Need a vacation to relax after their long days. It would help immensely if they slowed things down and added a few more days to their trips. But 1st they need to be accommodating to their guests who have paid big bucks for A and K trips. Absolutely will never go with A and K again.

Is the first time we travel with Abercrombie & Kent and it was fantastic. Everything was perfect, the hotels, the tours, but what made a difference in the level of service were the tour guides. Kamal in Jordan was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and nice. He would go out of his way just to please us and getting us to see the very best. In Israel, Johnny (the driver) and Simon, the tour guide, were just out of this world. Every day they went the extra mile with us and, specially Simon, he knew everybody everywhere!! No lines for us!!!! Where there were hundreds of people waiting in line, he managed to find someone who would let us in first! He was a real blessing!!! He made it possible for us to attend mass at St Lazarus where he was even playing the piano! Unforgettable!!! They certainly made our trip magical!

The Abercrombie & Kent travel group was fantastic. We had drivers and guides pick us up at our hotel for every excursion and tour from Lake Como, Lucca, Florence, Sorrento and Rome. All drivers were polite and spoke some English. Tour guides and Guardian angels kept us on track. Our Guardian angel in Florence picked us up with driver and walked to our seats on fast train to Naples and supplied a porter for our luggage. We were met with another guardian angel in Naples at our coach with a porter who walked us through the train station to meet our driver on the outside. Such wonderful service. Our driver, Matteo, from Florence to San Gimignano and the following day to the airport and train station was fantastic. He showed us several things that were not on our agenda and met us during our tour with an umbrella because it had started to rain. Great driver and very personable..

We had a wonderful time at our villa in Chiusi, Italy. The villa was beautiful, charming and perfect for our family vacation. The pool area was gorgeous with breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside. The staff at the villa was exceptional!! They were so accommodating, friendly, and very professional. Our breakfasts were beautifully presented and expertly prepared. Occasionally we requested a lunch or dinner on short notice and Maria and Chiara happily complied with delicious creations. Maria was very helpful with any request we had! I would totally recommend this villa!

They were great , especially in Italy where language was a problem. I called them several time in England and they were very helpful. This was important because the woman handling the Villa was useless. She did not speak English and was very difficult to communicate with. We woke one morning to find that we had NO electricity or water . We contacted her and had no answer. I called A&K and they determined that it was a scheduled town shut off that would last all day. She knew about this because we were told that there was a notice on the gate of the villa. She told us nothing! If she had told we would have had drinking water stored and would have planned our day differently. This ruined one day of our stay.

Our honeymoon experience began in Nairobi with an Abercrombie and Kent Angel meeting us as we stepped off the plane. From there we had someone by our side until we made it to our first camp. While there weren't very many issues, I'd like to mention a couple: The first issue was at our first camp in Meru (Elewana Elsa Kopje) - the entire property was riddled with ants; from the moment you stepped out of your bed, you were stepping in ants. The second issue was at Sanctuary Olonana (an Abercrombie & Kent Property). The property was absolutely fantastic, but the road from the game drives to the property was terrible. It is a 20 minute ride that is beyond uncomfortable and is basically crawling on rocks the entire time. If you get carsick at all, this is not the place for you. Overall the entire trip was amazing and we would do it all over again with a few slight changes. We loved that A&K planned the trip for us in a way where the accommodations got nicer as the trip progressed.

Our cruise was well planned with excellent staff & service. The educational lectures helped us understand the regional history & culture. They kept us very well informed of daily activities. We liked having flexibility to go into towns at night on our own at the ports. The disappointing part of our cruise ship was that the food was only fair. Being a French ship, we thought we would get French food from French chefs but the food was only mediocre. In fact, we chose to eat out at restaurants in town whenever we could because of this.

More that 40 Years! Scrap the APP

We have worked with A&K for over 40 years! We have had many, many private journeys, and some small group excursions and are booked on a Wings trip soon. We like all the detail and attention provided EXCEPT for the new APP! Others on a recent trip agreed except for ONE person! One couple missed their A&K booked flight because of the APP!! It is impossible to walk around while touring and look at the app. The original docs were in a spiral notebook with pockets to put maps, cards etc while on the go. Yes, it is bulky, but the revised docs in paper form, like the proposals for every trip also work well. You can take a page for a day excursion and write names of fellow travelers, since you don't provide participant lists? anymore, jot down where you had lunch and any other notes. We need to get the phones out out our faces 24/7!! On a previous trip, some not so tech proficient sadly didn't know what to do with the app! And A&K staff don't know how to navigate it either!! My family did a small group safari with A&K and it was amazing, from the resorts, to the itinerary to the guides. Everyone was great and they thought of everything. Every detail was arranged so we didn't have to worry about a thing. When every other tour company was doing box lunches for picnics, A &K arranged a gourmet lunch with a private chef.

A&K provided a superb experience for us from the time we exited the airport in Nairobi, Kenya through check-in at the airport for our departure. All of the guides and drivers were welcoming and well informed. The agenda and schedule were well designed and had a good balance of travel, game drives, alternate activities and down time. The hotel and lodge choices ranged from good to excellent. The Melia chain of lodges was outstanding, the Serena chain could use some updating and refresh of the facilities. All the staff regardless of location provided and superior level of hospitality, excellent food and service. It was a bucket list dream trip that lived up to the expectations.

Two tours Switzerland and Italy

Overall the experience was good. Tour directors with both tours were very good, especially Andrea with our Switzerland tour. The guides on the excursions were knowledgeable. Overall food was good but not great. The majority of the hotels were fine, but the one in Parma was totally unacceptable.Hallway carpet was filthy and there was no cold water in the bathroom.It was impossible to shower as the hot water was scalding. We found out that Abercrombie has both 4 star and 5 star tours. that provide levels of accommodations. That information would have been helpful in making any vacation decision.

Good News and So So Bad News

Connections Italy's Jewels (First Tour) Very mixed feelings about this tour. For one thing, I paid top dollar for the tour and I feel that I got a budget tour (3/4 star hotels instead of 5 star hotels). The tour guide was not that good, the hotel rooms were small and dark and some of the dinners/lunch were not up to par. In fact, the hotel room in Venice was so dark that you had to use a flashlight to find items and one couple in our group refused to stay there and went to another hotel. In fact, I found out that a budget tour company stayed in a few of our hotels and had the same type of rooms. Second Tour to Sicily was much better due to our Guide who did a great job. Still, some of the rooms in the hotels we were at were not that great. And some of the dinners were so so. On my next trips, I will make sure to check all the hotels/meals, etc. to see if I'm really getting my money's worth.

We have traveled all around the globe with A&K for over 40 years. Pre planning, lodges, hotels, guides are top notch! We have been to Africa with A&K 4 times and our last Wings journey was a spoiler! Our guide Cameron was all one could ever ask for, knowledgable on every subject, flora, fauna, history, politics,.....and he was so much fun to be with! From our airport rep, Bill, in J'burg to the end, it was a very memorable trip. Our only and very upsetting part of working with A&K today is the app they insist using for everything! It is NEVER updated during the trip and from our rep to our guide, they don't really know about the app, use it and have anything positive to say about it! The initial proposal from A&K , which we can download and print is perfect, if updated. The airport rep gave us a HARD COPY updated itinerary for the trip which was VERY useful. Most A&K staff are not familiar with the app, other than the "APP GROUP" in the UK???? So ditch the app!

Our experience was outstanding. The quality of the itinerary was excellent, and the accommodations were superb. However, the true success of the tour was due to the quality of the staff provided by the A&K, our tour guide, Assim, and driver, Adil. Both were gracious and professional. They cared for our safety and comfort exceedingly well. Assim was an extremely knowledgeable and articulate guide. His command of English is amazing, and he is well-informed on all facets of the tour. His knowledge and perspectives went far beyond our expectations of the tour, ranging from history, current events, regional perspectives, etc. Both Assim and Adil created a truly fine experience for all of us.

All up ok . Mumbai you could miss from the tour and give us more time to appreciate a few of the lovely hotels. No real down time for a swim as we were on the move the whole time. A very long day travelling from the tigers at Panna to Varanasi as they had stuffed up the flights. Also no real shopping time and the places the tour guide recently took us too were so expensive. Enjoyed it but would have preferred a slower pace.

We had two separate guides for our recent trip to Austria who were both were very very good. Each was extremely knowledgeable about their city and were eager to share with us. Monika in Salzburg even added a stop as she realized a few of us were Sound of Music fans and thought we'd enjoy the detour which we certainly did. Frustrating trip to Germany

This trip was a very frustrating experience. It was a 65th birthday present to my sister and almost everything was disappointing. Hotels were far from luxury. They did not have my name at 2 check ins so 30 minutes to get a nice representative from A & K to figure it out. I had to pay for one since they did not have it marked as paid. Most rooms were boring, small or overlooking some piece of machinery. Some hotel staffs did not know what to do in the area or were outwardly rude. We almost always had to wait to check in. Most tour guides and drivers were fabulous. except the one that drove from Munich to Nuremburg to drive us 3 minutes to a museum. He was happy to get paid. I general I feel no one at A & K looked at a map or listened to their local guide. Two which had emailed them with questions and suggestions. I have been on an A & K tour many years ago and felt safe that it would be a fabulous trip. I was so wrong. I would not book with A & K again. Very disappointed.

The Antarctica cruise was a one-of-a-kind trip. The boat was very nice, accompanied by a wonderful staff of folks. A & K made a great trip to Antartica wonderful. In connection with Ponant and their ship and crew and naturalists cannot to beat. The ONLY thing that they did not offer (which my husband with 2 very bad knees) was upgraded airline seating. He is not able to sit in regular seats but needs the extra leg room. We would gladly have paid more for that option. The ship crew was so helpful in helping him with the tours they took us on, he was able enjoy this experience.

This Kenya and Tanzania safari was incredibly disappointing. We spent an inordinate amount of time driving from site to site, sometimes six hours a day on the pothole filled African terrain. After checking it into our hotel (finally) we would set out on a game drive for another hour and a half. My back really suffered from all this unnecessary driving when other safari providers were flying their guests from place to place. This tour operator, nickels, and dimes its guests instead of being all inclusive, as other providers are. Never again. Serengeti Hotel was lovely but so remote it took an hour on the pothole filled “roads” to even get to an area where wildlife could be seen. Please do research before committing to an A&K safari - many other providers, such as Tauck, offer better - centrally located hotels, and internal flights, even hot air balloon rides in their price which is less than A&K.

The trip had two parts and the first guide was not of great quality; the second guide was fabulous. I've traveled with A&K before with great guides, so I'm giving them a thumbs up for now. I have another trip scheduled later in the year and am hoping the poor guide was a one time thing.

This was our second time with Abercrombie and Kent having travelled to India before with them. They appear to have grown in offerings and it was very difficult to make pre and post excursion plans with them as they were exceptionally slow in returning communications. We were forced to use another company because of this and we were very concerned how this would translate for our small group tour once in Australia and New Zealand. Happy to say they were flawless and excellent on the ground as we remembered them to be. They use the nicest hotels, we dined in the best restaurants , had some very unique experiences and our tour director was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. Kudos for this to A&K!

A&K managed to put together a beautifully orchestrated trip to Mexico City, Puebla and Oaxaca on very short notice. Luis Gutierrez has a wonderful cadre of guides and drivers who took care of us as if we were family. All were charming, interesting and phenomenally knowledgeable about Mexican history and culture. We had a wonderful trip to Jordan. Our guides were wonderful and enjoyed sharing their experiences and knowledge with us. Our accommodations were beautiful. Airport guides got us effortlessly through visas and customs. Traveling was comfortable. Sights (dead sea, Wadi Rum, Petra) were amazing; plus everything along the way. I appreciated the local touches of stopping at a few local craft places as well. Highly recommend

Our guides from Abercrombie & Kent were great with people, knowledgable and provided flexibility to our group of 6. If we wanted to investigate anything in more detail, they made it happen. It was like traveling with a local friend from the area. Also in Rio de Janeiro our guide Laura Duek is the only one able to get a couple we were traveling with on a flight. She actually was teaching the airline people what needed to be done ( the electricity was out so everything was being done manually) Laura took the airline agent by the hand and ran down the terminal to get things done. (we were there in plenty of time but there was so much confusion on the airports part) Laura was the only one who figured it out...Up until Laura solved the issue...the airline said go back to your hotel you are staying another night!......that was not going to happen on Laura's watch, it was amazing. The couple made their flight and their connection and at the end had all their luggage! Incredible....

Tour director iTI WAS REALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ALOT OF WHAT WE SAW WAS REALLY GOOD. THE TOOTH RELIC WAS RIDICULOUS WAITING 2.5 HOURS TO SPEND LESS THAN 10 SECONDS AT THE SACRED THING. THE NEAR 8 HOURS DOING THE TRAIN AT ELLE MEANING EFFECTIVELY THE OTHER OFFERINGS COULD NOT BE DONE TEA FACTORY IS TOO FAR AND WINDING ROADS ADDED TO THE PROBLEM. THE BIG PROBLEM HOWEVER WAS ITI REFUSED TO DO SEAT ROTATION - LIKE IT OR NOT IT SOLVES SEATING ISSUES I ,DURING THE TRIP ADVISED A&K OF THIS ISSUE AND YOUR LOCAL AGENT TALKED TO MY WIFE AND SOME OTHER PASSENGERS ,BUT NOT ME - UNIMPRESSED BECAUSE YOU RANDOMLY CHECKED WITH PEOPLE WHO MAY WELL HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM THE COMMENT MADE TO MY WIFE WAS YOU SUPPLIED MORE SEATS SO PEOPLE CAN SPREAD OUT. This is our third trip planned with Abercrombie & Kent. My partner and I prefer to travel privately with a A&K driver/guide in order to maximize our travel experience, enabling us to personalize our itinerary and have the flexibility to adjust our schedule if we choose. Our guides have been uniformly wonderful - very knowledgeable and considerate. offering useful suggestions and additions to each day. A&K excelled in making sure we knew ahead when and where to meet our guides, with appropriate names and contact numbers. I also appreciated the "Guardian Angels" who checked on us regularly to make sure everything was going smoothly. I was particularly impressed with A&K on our trip to Southeast Asia in 2023, which involved a number of different countries and modes of transportation. We will certainly use this company again in the future.

The trip was wonderful, in Rome the guardian angel Maria was great. Maria took such great care of us. Maria made sure everything was set up and perfect for us. Franchesca was our tour guide. Franchesca was so knowledgeable and brought the history to life everywhere we went. Would love to go back... In Kendall the Gilpin hotel was charming. Teresa our tour guide in Kendall was very knowledgeable and shared so much history about the town and Strickland connections. Teresa also shared her personal books and emailed us internet links so my Husband Bruce could do some digging into his ancestry. We were very satisfied with everyone we encountered from guardian angels to drivers to staff at Splendide in Rome and Gilpen in Kendall.

OUTSTANDING!!!!!! Our guide and driver were highly knowledge, very attentive and most pleasant. They made sure everything went smoothly and interfaced seamlessly with the local populace and vendors. It was an enormous comfort to know they were always at hand and we benefitted immensely from their local expertise. They were also very accommodating of any deviations from the schedule that we required and flexible in the extreme. The made what would have been a great trip anyway an extraordinary adventure. Though this trip was enjoyable, it was not up to usual A&K standards.The trip leader was not effective -often forgetting to inform the group of basic travel details and did not seem to be invested in this journey. Most disappointing was A&K’s failure to secure airline tickets to Terceira for a day trip the group very much wanted and expected to take. Do better A&K.

We were disappointed in this trip. We’ve been on other A&K trips that were fine. One complaint is that all the group dinners were horrible because the food was so bad. We also felt like we didn’t have many cultural experiences. And none of our guides told us much history. As an example no one ever told us the story of the earthquake how it happened on a religious day and the subsequent effect on religion.

I have travelled before with A&K and even though all of their agents were helpful and catered to the group desires there were some glitches. We were rushed at Stirling Castle visit to arrive at a Bannockburn Visitor Center and wait for almost two hours for a planed activity. A programmed excursion (8 hours) had a supposed stop at Rothiermuchus Estate and Cairngorm National park -we are not clear how we could fit this visit in the itinerary when the estimated driving time was 4 hours to the site. There was a planned dinner at Kirkstyle Inn but no transportation secured for the return to the hotel - so we had to cancel. Our next planned excursion was stated for 12:45 pm to a distillery and confirmed the time with Davina - for some reason there were other instructions given to the new driver and our guide Lorna. Lorna was very knowledgeable and gave us some background information. We were able to schedule a visit to Pitlochry for those of us who didn’t go to the distillery tour.

Great Experience with A&E

We have always heard that A&E was tops in the travel industry and now we know why. Our two-week safari trip in Kenya and Tanzania was absolutely flawless. A&E staff were there at every juncture to handle details and smooth our journey. We had wonderful guidance from the start with Charles and our awesome driver in Nairobi. Our driver was friendly and courteous, and he connected us immediately with private guides at Giraffe Manor, the Karen Blixen home, and the Sheldrick Orphanage. Our drivers at each safari camp (Frank, Peter and Morgan) were personable, knowledgeable, and determined to provide us with a fantastic safari. Their personal stories and knowledge of the Maasai culture greatly added to the richness of the overall experience. Morgan spent five days with us, travelling from the Serengetti to Gibbs Farm and then putting us on our flight to head home. Seeing Olduvai Gorge and the Ngorongoro Crater with this gracious gentleman made it a special experience.

A&K representatives were very professional and helpful. Good drivers (important on small bumpy roads!). Our guide through Lima was outstanding. The suggested itinerary was excellent. We loved Aqua Nera in general but were disappointed by there being 1/3 less of excursions on the trip than indicated in the initial itinerary and the excursions that took place were 30-50% shorter than announced.

The cruise sponsored excursion in Kirkwall, UK was sold out, so we asked our Virtuoso travel agent to book a private tour. We were happy to see that she had booked through Abercrombie & Kent. Abercrombie & Kent had previously arranged our private tour of Vietnam and Cambodia in March, 2020. (Yes, we were some of their last customers before COVID.) While the port agent was unfamiliar with A&K, they knew the tour guide well. As expected, the guide booked through A&K provided enlightening information, pleasant conversation, and excellent customer service.

Our recent safari trip to Kenya was everything we thought it would be plus more. A&K was awesome. Our guides and drivers were like teachers and the animals were our entertainment. At both camps the staff was so pleasant and the food was excellent! If this trip isn’t on your bucket list, it needs to be! Trip of a lifetime!

I have to say we thought we would have a much better experience with A&K based on their reputation. The trip was extremely busy, spending a lot of time on buses and planes, including one disaster of a trip where they failed to book our flight to Madeira early enough and all 18 guests had to leave our hotel at 4:30 am to make a connection in Lisbon where we had a 4 1/2 hour layover. By the time we arrived in Madeira the wine tasting tour that was scheduled was rushed for those few guests who attended (most of guests had decided not to go as exhausted from full day of travel). All this for what should have been a 2-3 hour direct flight. Great to see the Azores and Madeira but very disappointed in A&K.

Waking up at 3 am and arriving our destination at 5pm ( for what could have been a 4 hour trip) was unnecessary and not what we hoped for. Other things were lack of accountability on their part

Everything set up through A&K was done to perfection. Our local angel Andrea was in constant contact to make sure that all our needs were met. A&K are always great. The venues they choose are wonderful and their tour guides are fabulous. We saw jaguars, tapirs, capybaras, marsh deer and giant anteaters on this trip. Our guide was a world class photographer who helped people take better pictures. The local guides hired were so informative and helpful that it really enhanced the experience. The hotel in the park at Iguazu Falls was spectacular and a wonderful way to end the trip.
