Incredible Trip & Organization

Both hotels we stayed in were great. I have some allergy restrictions and all of the food provided was outstanding and they took such great care of me. My expedition leader was fantastic. He was so passionate about his job, he was friendly and funny and always went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy and safe. The most important part, the trip itself, was everything I wanted it to be. Even though it was much warmer than it was suppose to be, between the 3 days on the rover, we saw 35 bears. We even saw 3 different kinds of fox and some snowy owls. It was quite the magical experience, especially for a Floridian. The lectures after each day were also very nice. The trip was organized and fun and I'd recommend it to everyone.

He could track wild life from the vehicle while driving along, and then go off road to find it. He was friendly and helpful. Our tour coordinator Olivia was wonderful. went on Town and Tundra adventure to see polar bears. cold came in early and all polar bears left before we got there so we wound up seeing 2 arctic hares and a red fox (which we have by our house). Wind chill was -50 each day. No heat in sleeping rooms in Tundra lodge, just some heat in the hallways. Have to go outside in -50 wind chill to get to lounge car and/or dining room, and to bathroom if you are in lounge car or dining. Only one of the 4 days did they use 2 rover vehicles where there were only 16 in each as advertised so everyone could have a window---maybe because there was nothing to see anyway. The night before we got a phone call from Nat Hab saying if we cancelled we would get a 50% credit on another trip. In retrospect we should have cancelled and eaten the other 50%. Not even a lecture on polar bears.Pre trip day in Winnipeg was excellent.. Charter plane flight better than expected.

Africa Safaris Fall 2018

Natural Habitat did an excellent job of organizing one month of African Safaris for us. Working with one operator proved to be the correct way to go and everything worked seamlessly. We travelled through 7 countries which translates to lots of connections and planning. The private conservancies were definitely the way to go to get the up close encounters with the animals. The conservancies use of local guides and giving back to the development of the local communities was great to see. The remote mobile Asilia Camps were well run and some of our favourites.

Natural Habitat Adventures, Whale Shark Tour

This tour included unforgettable close encounters with whale sharks and (unplanned) manta rays. In addition, NHA provided opportunities for me to witness many other forms of wildlife as well as unique geologic features. For someone who’s interested in natural history, this tour exceeded my expectations. I felt very fortunate that Fernando, one of the tour leaders, happened to be a birder. While only two in the group (including me) shared this interest, Fernando made a special effort to take me aside and point out a great many bird species, most of which I’d never seen. His expertise and consideration added greatly to my overall experience.

Escape the Real World and see the Polar Bears!

My husband and I loved the NHA tour to Churchill to view the Polar Bears. Given that it was affiliated with WWF, we felt they had the best interest in preserving the sanctity of the polar bears' environment and knew just what to do to allow us to observe the animals yet not interfere. We loved taking a one week trip that felt so relaxing b/c we decided to completely unplug. Since we were so remote, in such a different environment, and because wifi and cell service is spotty, we completely disconnected. Best thing we ever did on a vacation. We will do that more often now, but it's natural up on the edge of the Arctic!

From Loreto, our Nat Hab Gray trip began with a bus ride to San Ignacio Lagoon bus where the Gray Whales mate and give birth in Feb/Mar., after migrating from the Arctic. Our expert leaders, Sofia & Andrea, guided us on twice daily panga rides to see the whales spy hopping, displaying flukes, flirtatious activities and some coming alongside our boats for rubs made each outing fun. They had us all eat at one table, elbow to elbow instead of spreading us into smaller groups. We lost one leader to Covid midway which made for a lot of issues. There was no itinerary given, we had to ask multiple times a day what was happening next. Poor lunch meat sandwich given each day and dinner many nights not healthy when hotel offered better but not offered that. We did our own thing one night when offered cheese and crackers for dinner. Hikes not fully described ahead and were really beyond the ability of the mature group. Many just stopped attending hikes. Leaders assigned rooms with balconies while guests had hot top floor room with no a/c and little air movement. Not what we paid for or expected. Second time with this company but never again.

This is my second trip with NatHab. Both have been extraordinary. They have been exciting, well organized and well staffed. Three factors make NatHab trips so memorable: - Their staff are exceedingly well trained, and they care deeply about their guests. - They have an amazing infrastructure established. This includes places to stay, relationships in the local areas, a network of people who know all the unique parts of the locations being experienced, food, sources, internal transportation… - They have the best itineraries of any adventure groups. I look forward to the trip. I’ve already scheduled for next summer. Thank you, NatHab.

Educational and well operated

We did a 10 day Tanzania safari with Natural Habitat Adventures. The tour group could have gone up to 12 but there were just 5 in our group, one group per camp. The tour guide was top notch and very knowledgable in all respects, able to go in deep not only on what the animals were doing but why, and able to talk about the plants, landscape, and culture in addition to animals. I believe NatHab prides themselves on having knowledgable guides that can provide education vs. just steer you to the animals. If you just want to be driven around there are cheaper options. The camps were impressive for being in the middle of the bush. Plumbing, electricity, internet, comfortable beds, large size. The tents were high-quality (especially important for keeping bugs out). The food was amazing, although pretty generic dishes like pork chops steak etc. Everything seemed very well operated. We were never sitting around waiting for cars or paperwork.

This is my 2nd trip with NatHab and it was great. They provide tour guides that are very knowledgeable. We were provided with everything to make us comfortable and warm. We met local people and were able to visit many local places. We were able to also ride on a dog sled. The owner of the dog sled business had great stories and has led a very interesting life. The driver, the group, Anthony, and everyone we interacted with was great. We were fortunate to have all 4 nights with beautiful Northern Lights.

They took care of us from the time we landed in our first city. Met us in the airport and handled everything until we were on the plane leaving. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area, the sights and the local people This was a photo tour and he had excellent knowledge of all cameras that people brought on the trip. He was also fun. He supported every person on the tour. Also, the booklet that Nat Hob sent prior to the trip was invaluable in helping us prepare ourselves and our clothes necessary for a successful trip. It was outstanding.

We have done two trips with NatHab and both times they knocked it out of the park. They preach and practice sustainability while exploring wildlife. The accommodations were somewhat Spartan, but the food was excellent. This is the price you pay to stay in the "wild" next to the wildlife you are there to see. The expedition leaders on this trip (Marlo and Sabina) did an outstanding job making sure we had the best chances of seeing polar bears. And we did! We saw numerous bears including sparring, mother and cub, investigating our lodge and starting out on the ice. They were quick to point out other arctic wildlife and made our trip a great memory. We are making the deposit on our next NatHab trip.
