Inspired by the past and stunningly reimagined for the future, Seven Seas Grandeur will exemplify our heritage of perfection with unrivaled space, unparalleled service, exceptional cuisine and transformative experiences that will begin the moment you step aboard.

Seven Seas Mariner’s bow-to-stern refurbishment has been complete, elevating her to a new level of elegance with dramatic new culinary experiences, elegant new suite designs and completely renewed elegant guest spaces.

Seven Seas Navigator has few equals, as all accommodations are suites with ocean views, most with private, furnished balconies. Guests who sail in one of her 245 suites enjoy an exceptional level of service by a warm and friendly crew at an extraordinary ratio of 1 to 1.42.

Building on our long tradition of being the most inclusive luxury experience in the world, we are creating something beyond all expectations. We are yet again elevating a new standard for luxury by striving for the ultimate achievement — perfection.

Fresh from her complete and total refurbishment, she boasts a refreshed elegant style in her restaurants and lounges, as well as luxurious new décor across her 350 suites – each with spacious balconies. Among her four exquisite dining options is the new modern French restaurant Chartreuse.

Regent is by far the best cruise line I have been on.

By: Randyo

Reviewed on: 24 Oct 2019

Regent is expensive and it is well worth it as everything from food, liquor, and shore excursions are included at every stop. Regent ships capacity is 740-760 passengers which makes for a much more positive experience. you will NOT see a bunch of drunks or wild kids running around the ship. Service is comparable of what you would find at a 5 star resort or hotel and the food and wine are excellent. We have traveled enough on Regent that many staff members remember us and treat us like family. They also have travel experts on hand that make presentations on up coming shore excursions. It would be very hard to find another cruise line that comes close to competing with Regent. Also, since it is a smaller ship Regent can dock in many ports that the massive ships with thousands of people onboard can’t!

Not only is the ship the best of the Regent cruise ships but the staff is even better. We are cruised on other cruise lines and there is no comparison. The dinning experience is top notch at all the onboard restaurants. Have alway booked another cruise on the ship.

Good....but...

By: CountryLad

Reviewed on: 18 Oct 2019

The cruise line and staff are amazing, The only hitch is that as all the off shore excursions are included, you get crowds on all the tours, far too many people for a single guide, and far too many people over estimating their physical abilities. Most of the excursions were spent waiting for people to catch up and when they did, they didn’t listen to the tour guides, and complained that they didn’t know what they were looking at. There also is a very obvious class system on the ship, the more you pay the better your treated. Need to tighten your practices at these prices......

A good cruise. Comparable with Seabourn.

We were on a transoceanic cruise sailing from Lisbon. As we were in a concierge suite we had an included overnight stay in Lisbon, we stayed at the Four Seasons in Lisbon and it was a wonderful experience from the greeting at the airport from the Regent rep to our transfer from hotel to ship the next day. All was extremely well organized and preceded by a lovely breakfast at the hotel. Four Seasons is a wonderful hotel. Explorer is a beautiful ship, our suite was very spacious and comfortable our cabin stewards kept it looking immaculate. The service in the restaurants was sometimes not the best, it felt like there were a lot of new staff not familiar with how things ran. Had a few issues with food not being hot when served, but they were corrected fairly quickly. Entertainment on board was well done and quite varied. Regent has done away with the paper cruise survey and gone to online only, was not able to get it done. Disembarkation was handled well.

The Regent Explorer is a magnificent vessel. The crew is fabulous as is the ambience. We encountered bad weather for most of the cruise and the Captain did whatever he could to get us to a sheltered port in order to make us more comfortable. Unfortunately, these port changes disrupted our planned itinerary. Even the evening shows had to be postponed 2 or 3 times due to the rough seas. I took 2 cooking classes which were wonderful. One thing that was lacking were interesting lectures, especially on the days we were at sea. Otherwise traveling with Regent, and on the Explorer specifically, was an experience of a life time. Did Not Meet Expectations

By: Phyzzle

Reviewed on: 08 Nov 2021

After much anticipation for our first RSS cruise, it did not meet our expectations. The ship was lovely, crew nice, food great, entertainment spectacular; however, the excursions were poorly handled and guests were treated like kindergarteners. Understanding their need to keep everyone safe was paramount, but reminding guests constantly to social distance and wash hands was excessive. Esp. when they put 200 people shoulder to shoulder on a sightseeing cruise where the only thing we saw of Cinque Terra was shoulders and heads until we docked for a walkaround. 2 1/2 hours of shoulder to shoulder negates focus on social distancing. Tours not completed due to those with limited mobility being put on all the tour groups led to shortened tours as steps and cobblestone streets couldn't be handled. They should have had a group for those with limited mobility -scooters, crutches, walkers, obesity, heart conditons, etc. which would have let the others do their complete tours.

Three people I saw personally fall due to age and health conditions. One excursion we went on would definitely not been recommended for a couple, it was bumpy roads and unstable conditions on a jon boat and wobbly swim platform. They stayed in the jon boat in the sun and did not look comfortable this should of been explained more by the excursion desk. I went to them myself about the trip and was not told it was a jon boat to the platform. Just to stand on the floating platform you had to be stable on your feet. The people that put on the excursion did a good job as best that was able for the area. Regent could be more explanatory

The Seven Seas Explorer was the most wonderful cruise ship I have experienced. It was beautiful in all details. We were greeted in our stateroom with Champagne and an Orchid. The ship was decorated in the most elegant style with blown glass light fixtures, beautiful carpets, and beautiful fresh flowers all over the ship. The china was an outstanding treat in every dining room. As a plant based eater, I was delighted with the wonderful selection of plant based dishes. They recognized that I had a special diet preference and sent me the menus each day for the various restaurants so that I could review what was available. No one was trying to sell you art work, photographs, or water, bottles. There was no additional charge for eating in the specialty restaurants, and the ship staff was equally outstanding in providing service. I would say the S. S. Explorer deserves a 10 plus rating. This cruise ship is superb in every way. Jade organised a suite near the lift which I greatly appreciated. The food, wine and ambience couldn’t be faulted. As a solo passenger I was fortunate to be looked after by Clair, the Social Hostess with nightly cocktails with other solo passengers. I was particularly impressed by the 2 speakers in The Speaker Series discussing the history of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires in the various Greek Island we visited. A fabulous 34 day cruise.

Regent Sevens Seas Cruise Athens to Jerusalem

By: Julie

Reviewed on: 11 Jun 2022

The best part of our cruise was absolutely the food and staff. The ship was beautiful and the rooms very spacious. The theater entertainment was also very good. The first encounter at the airport was just the beginning of how details are not their speciality. It took us awhile to find the person to take us to the hotel. The hotel location and ambience was just okay. Regent made arrangements for us to travel by bus to the cruise ship. Our scheduled time to board was totally ignored by the staff and they put us on the last bus which left at 12:50 pm. We had to be out of our room at 11:am and sit in the lobby. When we arrived at the port it took 2 hours before we reached the front of the line to get tested for Covid. We had 3 tour cancellations and one day waited 1 1/2 hours for the bus. Another day the shuttle bus dropped people off at one location and the other buses used a different stop. People were stranded and had to get a taxi back.

Maiden voyage of Explorer

By: Joseph & Mary

Reviewed on: 09 Aug 2016

The Explorer is a beautiful ship and we were glad to share the maiden voyage knowing that it couldn't possibly live up to all the hype over the past year and a half. First the positive. The food and service was the best and exceeded every other cruise. The entire staff was equally professional and made everyone feel special.. The ports chosen were also most interesting and a photographers delight. The ship handled the voyage without a sound of engine noise Nor pitching. Now the negatives. The three water transfers were not worthy of such a grand ship. Enough said. There was no central elevator or staircase and the saying on the ship was "You can't get there from here." The shower was poorly built and on the first night Mary was unable to open the sliding door, and would have trapped. The second night a slab of marble fell and narrowly missed my foot. All in all it was a great trip and all the faults will be cured before future sailings, I hope.

"Refined elegance" My name for Explorer

By: MJ

Reviewed on: 08 Dec 2016

I find the attention to detail given to outfitting Explorer to be only matched by the amazing diversity of that detail. Everything from the extensive use of elegant moldings in every conceivable--and a few unexpected--places, to the heated mirror in the bathroom which literally "ate" the steam off, to the really sleep-Inducing beds, to wonderful meals that make you want to sleep, to the beautiful floor treatments--especially the marble inlays, to the collection of vases and objet d'arte in the large area approaching the Compass Rose dining room, to the choice of color in the Chartreuse dining room. This ship is a worthy addition to the Regent fleet that we have previously thought was as good as it gets. What will the next Regent ship look like? I cannot imagine! But it's going to be something to be enjoyed.

Not up to 6 star rating. Food stretched too far and low quality. Elevators getting stuck. TV's not working properly. Broken pool lounges. This is a new ship. These things should not be happening. Entertainment sub standard especially the lounge trio which was horrible. Food not prepared to high standards. Had to send back dishes. They seem to be trying to squeeze every dollar out of the cruise while sacrificing quality. For a new person on this line they might be impressed but we have been cruising for 16 years back when it was Radison. We have noticed the down hill trend. As far as the travel agent is concerned; no complaints.

You don't get to see the local living with these large group tours. There were no bathrooms on the buses and public restrooms in China can be very dirty and not what we are used to. I came down with a bad cold and cough and feel it could have been due to being in such unsanitary conditions. I wish we had understood what the tour conditions would be as we would have booked more private tours and would have preferred not to be paying for "all inclusive" when we didn't enjoy them touring this way.

However, the ones that I caught were very good and quite entertaining. The dancers and singers were very good. I hate to be mean but I've been on other cruises where it was somewhat apparent as to why the performers were on a cruise ship. On the Explorer, the dancers and singers were of Broadway caliber. Prime was very good, but their filet was not comparable to fine steak restaurants we normally eat at and the crab legs that came with the surf and turf were not impressive, we should have had the lobster tail as it looked excellent served to a nearby table. We didn't care for the food at Chartreuse and we thought their service was poor...they were not friendly at all (at lunch or dinner) which really surprised us. Walking the ship, we rarely saw people! We enjoyed the Regent Explorer very much. We have been on every ship in the fleet, starting with the Song of Flower 25 years ago. The Explorer is by far the most beautifully decorated even though some of the art work was a bit strange for my taste. The restaurants were excellent but very noisy as were most of the cocktail bars. The Compass Rose could have held it's own in Las Vegas, and I missed the quiet elegance of other Compass Rose dining rooms. The staff always seemed to be running at breakneck speed. I missed not having little chats with waiters, cabin stewards, etc. The speaker was awful. He might have known his material, but his two favorite words were "mm" and "uh". I had never been turned away from La Veranda (Setti Mara) at dinner time before. But it happened twice. Maybe reservations need to be introduced. I also think that water should be provided on long bus trips. I was shocked to be told that we could buy water if needed. Sometimes, change is NOT good.

However, my agent was able to contact her and rebooked her flight out of Paris so she was able to fly there direct and get on the ship.

Seven Seas Explorer is advertised as 6 star luxury and it truly stands up to this expectation! The ship has everything anyone could ever want, yet it caters to just 750 passengers! The service was absolutely amazing and thanks to the low passenger to crew ratio, we got to know the crew over the course of the cruise. The restaurants were fantastic and the shore excursions fascinating. Our suite was gorgeous and the views from our 14th deck balcony were incredible. Each and every crew member made sure we had a wonderful experience - and they succeeded magnificently! One of our favorite activities was learning how to make fresh pasta with Chef Kelly in the amazing Culinary Arts Kitchen! And the view from the kitchen - absolutely amazing! We are looking forward to our next cruise with Regent!

Gorgeous ship, engaged crew, good food. If the itinerary intrigues you and can't be found elsewhere, go for it. The main problem is communication. The website frustrates, and Regent info is contradictory and lacks details. Ex.: You'll be met at the airport (where?) and taken by motor coach to the hotel (motor coach, in Venice?). You may use your ship credit in the casino (no, you can't). When changing planes in Paris on the way home, you need not go through immigration (yes, you do). At Regent's direction we waited for 30 minutes for disembarkation instructions, until I asked and learned our group had been free to go all along. Other issues: local guides were good to outstanding, but only one had headsets, and on a couple of excursions it was very hard to hear. And a 1-hour layover in Paris was unrealistic. If we hadn't hired a meet-and-greet service, we'd have missed our connection. The upshot? "God is in the details," and at this price point I doubt I'd opt for Regent again.

Ship/Regent Review

By: Libby

Reviewed on: 30 Oct 2017

My review is mixed. Although the ship was lovely (room accommodations, restaurants, staff's desire to satisfy requests, and other amenities), there were numerous missteps along the way regarding "communications." First of all, the Regent website is in dire need of upgrading and fixing the many glitches one encounters. This is important since you make various reservations through the website, and then are forced to phone them to correct or even make a reservation. The firm's claim that business class air fare is included in the pricing is misleading if you choose to stay extra days (not on one of its excursions). We were forced to buy an extra business class ticket for the flight home. Unfortunately, the "free wifi" on the ship was essentially nonexistent as you could not connect to it easily. Finally, Regent is very parsimonious in relating information regarding embarking, disembarking, tours, etc. And, in fact, gives out incorrect information on some important issues.

I had mixed feelings about Regent Seven Seas. Some things were outstanding (layout of ship and on board activities, restaurants, staff) but other things were rather disappointing. Several of the excursions were extremely challenging to hear the guide either because of them being soft spoken or heavily accented but mainly because the vast majority of the tours didn't include the option for headsets. This would be such an easy fix that I was shocked at the amount of complaints which could have been eliminated. Also, some of the "shopping" opportunities were horrendous - really cheesy touristy overpriced venues which were included in the tours. Really surprised at some of these and would endeavor to make sure that future excursions didn't include that as it was a waste of valuable touring time.

We don't believe you can find a cruise ship with better service and food anywhere. Regent is the definition of of FIRST CLASS & ALL INCLUSIVE. They will do everything in their power to make sure you have a great cruise, including providing multiple excursions at each port. On our most recent cruise walking back to the ship my knee brace broke so I called the stewardess, who arrived quickly and took the brace down to the carpentry shop. I really didn't expect them to be able to fix it but it was repaired and delivered to me the next morning. All of the staff from stewards to waiters and many others do a good job of remembering our names and take VERY good care of us.

The ship was not a ship to me. I think more money was spent on decorations than on construction. I paid for a balcony suite but was not able to use the balcony. The door had to be taped each night due to wind leakage. The ship did not seem to handle rough seas as well as other ships. In some areas it seemed as though they were disorganized. I am single (but paying for two), however, every morning Room Service would bring two cups for my morning coffee even though I told them every morning I was only one. I finally had to go to the Food and Beverage Manager to get this corrected. But I only got one chocolate every night. Dining Room service was slow especially if the table was singles. The card room was too small. We had to play in one of the restaurants. I think that Regent is cutting back. There was no Christmas gift (even though fares for Holiday cruise are always more). Instead we were told that money was being donated to a charity that none of us had even heard about.

The check in process was totally unorganized. The stateroom and the ship itself was beautiful. Some ports were not really all that picturesque. The main restaurant has an issue with hot and cold food. It is not fun to eat lukewarm food when it is supposed to be hot. The wine service is very spotty. There are quite a few wines that are included with meals, but it is like “pulling teeth” to get them to present more than one. The disembarking process was also unorganized. There was an event on the gangway, but they would not let us stay in the room and there was no place to sit in the lobby. So, by the time they finally let us disembark, some passengers were running late...leads to rude behavior.

Our cabin was not the way we usually traveled, although called a penthouse suite, it was just a regular cabin. Decent enough, but not what we expected. We found the food to be very below par. This trip was a spectacular experience. Ambience aboard the ship was superb; enrichment, entertainment and dining all excellent. An absolutely gorgeous ship that just never feels even close to full! The demographics were, as always, skewed a little older than I might have expected. Frankly, we enjoyed the time aboard the ship far more than on the included shore excursions, they being clearly the weakest part of the trip. Catalina Island is relatively boring and Cabo San Lucas was cancelled due to high winds, but Acapulco was quite nice. The Central American ports (Puerto Quetzal, Corinto and Puntarenas) were all along the hot, thinly populated west coast of the countries. As a result, our excursions all involved bus rides of a minimum of 2-3 hours in each direction. Cartagena, Columbia was by far the most interesting shore destination, while Grand Cayman was extremely boring. No culture other than modern American semi-tropical. But, the start attraction is the Canal itself!

This was our first time sailing on the Explorer and we enjoyed our master suite it was well appointed. The deck was very large, but it was unfortunate that we could not enjoy sitting out on sea days. The temperature was a bit cool and windy, so we did not spend much time on the deck. The bedrooms were nice. But the bathrooms were somewhat of a disappointment the commode had no safety bar and there was one in the shower. The biggest complaint was the bathroom sink. Although there were 2, the shelf above the sinks stuck out far enough that washing your face and brushing your teeth somewhat problematic. Also, there was minimal space between the sink and the jacuzzi, so it was somewhat difficult when one of us tried to pass by. One of our biggest issues was the lack of 110V outlets. There was one in the bathroom and if you turned the bathroom light off the outlet went off. So much for charging your razor, tooth brush, etc. Of course, there was the grand player piano in the living room!

We have sailed on Explorer previously; we knew how beautiful it is. Our choice of this cruise was for the ports in which it would stop--specifically 3 full days in St. Petersburg. A celebration of our 80th birthdays. We had a high level of anticipation, which hit a bump in the road--NOT caused by Regent. Lufthansa lost our luggage, for 6 days (of the 11 day cruise). Lufthansa's lack of concern for our situation was completely countered by Regent's wonderful actions. As we had only the clothes we wore on the flight, they provided overnight laundry service. That was for starters; they gave us a generous discount in their onboard store. As the time without our bags dragged on, they added a very nice gift to our onboard account. This was generosity unexpected, but gratefully received. Especially as our problem was all the fault of the airline, not at all Regent. The ship's staff were personally engaged in helping us. Special thanks to the Executive Concierge, Mr. Thay Barbosa.

This was our 20th cruise. We've sailed on the 'big ships', the Queen Mary II, and 'average' ships. The SS Explorer just might be our favorite ship!..big enough to have all the amenities but small enough to feel more like a private yacht than a cruise ship. It never feels crowded in the restaurants, clubs, pool or public areas...we could ALWAYS find a seat exactly where we wanted to be. The staff is extremely gracious and eager to serve. We particularly liked evening dining in the 'hybrid' restaurant, Sette Mari, where dress was more casual but the beverage and entree were ordered and served but the salad bar and desert was buffet style...and probably 1/3 of the tables were along the floor to ceiling windows...and there was outside dining on the rear deck, too! The decor is somehow a step up from traditional 'cruise ship decor'. The master bath was exquisite with plenty of storage in all the right places. We've already booked another trip on the sister ship, Splendor.

If I had not been on one of their cruises/ships I would probably say it was wonderful. This time I felt there was a definite staff shortage. Our cabin had not been properly checked before we entered and although things were taken care of in a timely manner it was always someone different that knocked on our door. I really never got to know the cabin staff. Last cruise we took the cabin staff were always visible, they actually became your friend. This time the only time I saw them was if I happened to pass by a cabin and they were doing turn down. Food was good but again not as good/fresh as our last cruise.

Everything related to the ship was flawless. All expectations were exceeded, especially the dining experience, which was nothing less than gourmet. The staff was courteous and always there for anything that was needed. However, there is one major complaint regarding the excursions. The temperature was in the high nineties which was expected. But what wasn't expected was the lack of relief in the buses. We all begged the drivers to make it cooler without success. In Messina the driver stated that the air conditioning could not be turned on until we were moving. The temperature in the bus while we were waiting to leave was near 120 degrees. also some of the guides were difficult to understand

But what made this cruise extraordinary was our Master level butler. He was so elegant, intelligent and thoughtful. His ability to anticipate our every need and whim was 100%. The only negative is it made the rest of our still very special vacation feel “normal” and coming down from the lifestyle of a billionaire was a transition.

Whether its 1. entertainment (over the top whether ship's company, Krew Kapers or guest entertainers), 2. food (Pacific Rim has a menu for which my response is "Okay!"), 3. suite comfort, cleanliness & amenities, 4. excursion options, and 5. special requests (our Butler, Binay, was remarkable!). I found a better location of "mid-ship" would have been served better. Specialty restaurants and activities were either all the way forward or in the aft section of the ship. Should you forget something, it was a long walk back to the room An example was I forgot an excursion ticket and I had to meet in 10 minutes. I had exited the ship and had to go back to my room to get the ticket and back out in a short amount of time and with sciatica on one side, it was really difficult. The ship was beautiful and the staff was awesome!! That being said, I feel everyone that disembarked most likely had Covid. Most passengers were seniors simply by the nature of the cruise. I feel there should have been some warning to their passengers. There were 6 of us that traveled together and all came home and tested positive. My husband became so unwell, he was unable to board our plane and was taken to the VancouverRichmond ER by ambulance. We stayed 2 extra days in Vancouver and our son flew in to assist us on our trip home. I would just suggest that passengers should be asked to provide a negative Covid test to board the ship. Everywhere you went, there was significant coughing. I told my husband, there is no way we will get off the ship without contracting some type of viral infection. Regretfully, that proved to be the case for our travel group.

We are not regular cruisers. This cruise was a special celebration for a milestone birthday celebration and we absolutely loved cruising on the Seven Seas Explorer! The accommodations were ideal, especially the fact that we had our own balcony. It is not too large a ship with an overwhelming number of passengers, so it did not feel crowded at all. The crew and wait staff were all exceedingly friendly and helpful. The shore excursions, onboard entertainment and activities, and the dining were all great. If we ever cruise anywhere else, we'll definitely make Regent our first preference.

The Explorer is a wonderful ship with an outstanding crew. Each person, no matter their job title, was accommodating. The food in all venues was very good especially the Pacific Rim. The sharing of information through announcements and the daily Passenger newsletter allowed us to be informed while on and off the ship. We enjoyed our excursions. I would recommend Regent, in its pre-cruise information, give a full description about the tour; how much time on a bus, or allotted to shopping, how much of the tours were on our own or guided. That full description was provided later, but not in the original information shared before we made our decision. I think the guides were subcontracted through a local company. The majority of them were very knowledgeable and had a good grasp of the English language. It would have been helpful if the guides used microphones of a specific frequency attached to participants' headphones so the tour guide could be heard when in large crowd.

A nice ship but nothing special. “Free” shore excursions, but you get what you (don’t) pay for. The one shore excursion we paid for, Kyoto, was terrible. People rave about Kyoto. What we visited was nothing to rave about. Ultimately, we learned to blow off the time-wasting shore excursions and go ashore alone (or not at all, like in the late substitute port of Sasebo which had absolutely nothing to offer). The supposedly middle of the road cruise lines, like Celebrity, and the giant ships offer more for the money and a better cruise experience. The food was vert good, but still cruise ship dining. Dinners ashore (Kobe beef in Kobe! Everything in Tokyo!) were highlights, but Regent had nothing to do with those.

• Amazed with Japan’s cleanliness, lack of trash or graffiti • The trucks and cars all looked new and well kept • The Japan country is extremely mountainous with abundance of thick forests • The culture of the Japanese (extremely polite) was apparent on the streets and highways. • Regent ship was extremely opulent in decorations • The suites were slightly larger, but with slightly smaller rectangular bathrooms. • Regent had ample storage space in walk in closet and suite cabinets • Excellent staffs who were very helpful and free laundry • Food was good but Dinners seemed to take too long to finish (2 hours) • Entertainment shows at night were all at 9:30 instead of 9:00 or 8:30 • Free excursions, guides were not extremely informative in the country culture, and very hard to understand accents o Guides need to have communicators or speakers and smaller groups (fast walk & slow walk) Too many Palaces and Temples not enough museums or art culture, better excursion planning needed.

It's not hot news that the SS Explorer is in elite company. Beautiful ambience in public and suite areas, great unrestricted food and drink choices at top shelf level, crew that almost without exception are skilled, concerned and courteous. Some excursions and some ports visited were just ordinary - as wrea couple of tour guides. While the Virtuoso on-board credits were great, the Virtuoso 'Reception' on board was a disappointment. Held in the ship's theatre, it involved a greeting at the entry point, then guests all found seats in fixed, tired seating (with plenty of drinks on offer) and unable to mix or interact except with those immediately adjacent. After some time, the Virtuoso host made a 'welcome' speech from the front of the theatre at a great distance from most guests. This event must be held in a lounge-type area where guests can move and interact with each other or with the Virtuoso hosts

We would highly recommend this cruise line and have booked another cruise with them next year.

The weather was also hard to predict, so tours were somewhat cold and rainy. But, as always, Regent did their best to accommodate our needs. All the management and crew members, from housekeeping to servers in the grill and restaurants, to the destination services and special meals people just did a wonderful job! We missed our destination dinner due to a timing conflict with a planned excursion. We felt it was more important to see Bangkok instead of going to the dinner. The commemorative gift was pretty well non-existent. Was there something in one of the 5 container shipments that never made it to the ship? We will never know. That said, the trip was still great! Our room steward Ichero and his team provided excellent service throughout the trip. Dinners were enjoyable in Compass Rose with lots of variety. We had 4 dinners in each of the specialty restaurants Prime 7, Chartreuse and Pacific Rim that were pretty memorable. On days when we had excursions (which were most days) the breakfast venues opened early to ensure you had plenty of time to eat before heading out. Destinations and excursions were interesting and fun.

The ship is in excellent condition and the crew were talented, attentive and just a joy to work with. My main gripe with the ship was just that the navigation channel on the TV was quite below today's standards. First, it would only show a ships heading of either 273 or 323 degrees (and we were never on those headings) and the information displayed was very basic. It did not include a running line of where we had been, or a projected course line of where we were heading. It didn't show points of interest (cities, islands) along our route. It was basically worthless and needs to be upgraded. I also wish RSSC would have an evening buffet option for dining. Sette Mare has a side dish/dessert buffet, but you still have to order your main course. Just seems to take a lot more time than I sometimes wish to spend at dinner.

Michelle Ellis took it upon herself to also get on the phone with the airlines ( which I was doing every day, after we got back from a tour), to help retrieve our luggage, while we were on the 3 week cruise. With her help, the airline found my husband's 1 of 2 pieces of luggage at the end of the 2nd week and had it delivered to our ship when it was in port. The other pieces were sent back to our home, instead of to the ship so at least our lost luggage had been found.

There are so many issues with this cruise. The ship is beautiful and spotless clean which is the good news. The restaurant/bar staff are sweet but so many of them need serious training. For instance, I ordered a margarita in the Observer Lounge and it arrived as one chunk of ice. When I showed the waiter and explained it was impossible to drink he simply took it away - never asked if I would like something else. In the Compass Rose my steak and baked potato came lukewarm at best - closer to cold. And then there's the internet issue - there was hardly ever any internet making work and study almost impossible for my grown grandchildren I was traveling with. Why would a spa be on top of the engines? My massage table shook thru the entire world's most expensive massage. The noise of the engines and the shaking made it a most unenjoyable time for far too much money. I hadn't been on Regent since 2008 at which time literally hundreds of people got sick and now this. I'm done.

A couple of items showed it was dated and needed an update - the chairs in The Veranda were threadbare, and there were stains in the corners of the ensuite bathroom. Some of the shore excursions needed more accurate descriptions to better reflect what they were truly about (eg. the KTN-035 Alaskan Lodge Adventure and Seafeast should have explained that the "seafeast" was only shellfish, and no salmon or other white fish was offered; and the KTN-090 Mahoney Lake Off-Road UTV Safari should have explained that this was not a nature tour through the woods, but a high-speed adventure down gravel roads.) The second half (southbound) of the two week cruise was not as well-planned as the first half (northbound). Not as many ports of call, too many sea days. And it was plagued with an infestation of young children. They were noisy, undisciplined, and monopolized the pool and hot tubs.

We enjoyed a land trip from Anchorage to Denali pre-cruise. We had good accommodations, comfortable bus ride, and a good tour guide. I don’t know that there was anything exceptional about it other than the magnificent scenery and experiencing the last frontier! I did really enjoy staying at Mt. Alyeska. On our trip we had to stay at Denali Village rather than the lodge, which I wonder how that would change the experience. Our cruise was wonderful. Beautiful ship, excellent service, and great excursions. The spa experience was a little off due to some communication issues. The food was most of the time really good but a few exceptions of meat that was a little tough. We enjoyed the night time entertainment and we met some very nice people. I would rate our overall experience with Regent an 8.5 out of 10.

Explorer had excellent amenities and food. Employees are very polite and motivated. I requested a wheelchair once on board due to my spouse's hip issue. This required a $183 charge to see the doctor to get a loaned wheelchair. In addition, I was charged $274 for a covid and flu test. This charge was excessive. For excursions, a golf cart should be available to transport mobility impaired people to the excursion point. I realize that some excursions are not appropriate for mobility impaired people. But, for example, the White Pass Railroad is an easy excursion. But one has to walk a quarter mile up ramps etc to get there. A golf cart should be available.

Staff was great. Shows were good, but a bit too late. Specialty restaurants were exceptional, but Compass Rose was not up to previous standards. Slow service, food often not hot. Lobster thermidor with virtually no lobster other than the shell. Seems like staff was not enough or maybe not trained up to standards we were used to. Weather was lousy, but not Regent's fault.

We have cruised on Regent for years. This was one of our best trips ever. Loved Alaska and the excursions offered. Loved Japan - excursions there were well organized and with excellent guides. We had a 3 night stay in Tokyo (courtesy of Regent) - again everything was excellent. The onboard experience was equally as good - accommodations, staff, food - all great. This is the only cruise line we travel on and have 5 more booked over the next 2 years. We like the ship small size and the adult focused environment (not for kids).

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Explorer. Food and crew were great as we expected. However we did have one glitch which hurt a lot. We chose this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Our travel advisor informed Regent of it as I did also when we got on the ship. We had booked our anniversary dinner for Prime 7 on the exact date. However, there was a “miscommunication “ and our celebration was totally ignored. It actually hurt a lot as this meant so much to us. It was also ignored by our room attendant. We heard about all the other people with birthdays etc having their rooms decorated, but we received nothing. It is so important to celebrate everyone. I spoke to Marin, one of the head waiters about our issue. He was wonderful and so apologetic. Also the next night in the Compass Rose he had us presented with a cake and serenaded by the waiters. That meant so much to us and we so appreciated his efforts. Come on Regent….you can do better than this.

Time on board Seven Seas Explorer was good. The only real issue we had was the bed comfort and size. It was very small (queen I believe). Our last cruise on Oceania Vista had a King bed and was much more comfortable. Another issue we had was that our sliding balcony door constantly whistled when it was windy. We reported it a few times, they came and looked at it but it still whistled through the night. This ship is getting old!

Loved the Seven Seas Explorer. The service provided by every crew member was outstanding. Loved the wide variety of restaurants we had available which meant you never got bored with the food offerings. Balcony cabin was fine and our steward so helpful. My only disappointment was with the excursions which I thought were underwhelming. I thought the cruise was very good value for money and I loved the wide variety of venues and entertainment on board.. I will definitely cruise with Regent again.
