The Parker’s Tavern is a Cambridge institution; sample a signature Bloomsbury Boozer before sharing a steak and ale pie or woodfired rib-eye. Sustainability
Our Commitment
- Larger amenities in bathrooms;
-We are focused on our supply chain both for the hotel and the restaurant and review everything we use to ensure we can reduce the Co2 footprint of our products. Our food is delivered to us freshly and where possible we source suppliers within 30 miles of the hotel;
-Energy is a major buzzword at the moment and like all businesses we have seen prices increase. We are fortunate that during our full rebuild and renovation (2014 – 2018) the building was designed to ensure heat does not escape;
-Staying with the building our Porte Cochere has been built from Lincolnshire stone using traditional building methods and employing local craftsmen. Our wooden floors have been repurposed. Our fireplaces have been rescued, repaired and now take pride of place in our library and ballroom;
-Our fixtures and fittings have been selected and installed with energy efficiency in mind. We use induction hobs in our kitchens, reducing our reliance on gas. Our dishwashers are water efficient. Our refrigeration is energy efficient. We use LED lighting where possible and have installed motion sensors to prevent lighting remaining switched on for longer than required;
-In our extremely limited car park, 6 of our 18 bays offer electric vehicle charging but our main recommendation for guests coming to Cambridge is to travel by train where possible;
-Our team members are all encouraged to cycle to work or take public transport, we are part of the Cambridge BID – driving forward a green agenda when it comes to team member safety and increased bus transportation;
