    Sustainability

    Our Commitment

    Our Commitment to Sustainability:

    • Our interpretation of perpetuality is rooted in its belief in effecting and empowering lasting change - starting with nurturing sustainable values in tomorrow’s travellers. Patina Maldives’ pioneering kids centre, Footprints is entirely powered by solar power. Here kids can use laser cutting technology to make toys - energy saving prefabrication technique used in the construction of the resort’s villas. Budding marine biologists can sign up for free diving lessons - helping to raise awareness of the local ocean environment.
    • The resort has a strategic alliance with the Olive Ridley Project, organisation providing rehabilitation to injured turtles. In Jan-2022, a turtle was discovered entangled in ghost gear. Our marine biologist brought the turtle to Patina for initial assessment before relocating to an ORP rehabilitation centre.
    • The culinary concept on the island is based on the nose-to-tail, root-to-leaf-principle minimising waste & advocating the benefits of a plant-based diet. Roots, the signature outlet is the manifestation of the latter. Patina’s herb garden expanded to successfully grow a range of fruits and vegetables in 2022. Harvest from the garden is used in kitchens around the island to cater to Patina’s many restaurants.
    • Patina Maldives’ commitment towards reliance on renewable energy, plans are in place to expand its solar plant to provide 50 percent of the resort’s energy needs by 2030.
