The arctic on the Greg Mortimer

By: PJS

The vessel is wonderful. It’s beautifully laid out. Our deck 7 suite was very comfortable and quiet. The ship’s crew is wonderful. They are friendly and efficient. The food was great. Working with Aurora was not always wonderful. Their reliance on email with hyperlinks is not good. They did not provide information requested in a timely fashion.

Overall enjoyable. Staff was learning as they went along, but they were always positive. Too much down time for me.

Very nice ship. The kayaking team was superb, highly recommend that experience. The dining team did a wonderful job of taking care of our every need. Highly recommend the Antártica trip, we were fortunate with the weather. The excursion trip did a nice job of communicating the plan daily,

First-timers to New Destinations

Our first experience with Aurora Expeditions on the Greg Mortimer to Cape Verde, Canary Islands and the Azores, a new itinerary. Destinations we were keen to visit before they become too popular. Overall we had a good time onboard and onshore, but thought that the ship would have been a smoother ride - there was more movement than we expected with its design.

The Greg Mortimer is a very capable and comfortable platform. This particular expedition was the first time in these waters for Aurora. Running an expedition in more temperate climes, and coordinating with shore based service providers, is much different than operating effectively solo on polar expeditions. They did a reasonably good job. The expedition leader seemed distracted by organizational issues, and didn't really engage with passengers, or seek feedback on excursions. In any event, a very interesting part of the world to explore, and we enjoyed our trip. Apparently they will offer a somewhat revamped itinerary in 2025.
