Sustainability
Our Commitment
Sustainability programs include conserving energy and rainwater, making our own high-quality drinking water and growing our own organic produce. We have one of the largest off-grid solar installations in the Southern Hemisphere using Tesla batteries, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. At Cluckingham Palace, over 100 hens and roosters roam, relax and produce fresh eggs for use throughout the resort’s restaurants. Nearby is the protected beehive area, which produces delicious honey and honeycomb.
Six Senses Fiji is also home to 40 Fijian Crested iguanas, a critically endangered native species with less than 5,000 remaining in the world. With just 17 iguanas in the vicinity at the time of opening in April 2018, it is clear that they are successfully reproducing in their natural environment within the resort. We make every effort to ensure that these special residents are safe and that their habitat, between the villas and our spa, remains as it was found. This section of the resort is called the Iguana Reserve and as guests walk along the winding boardwalk through the trees, they may be able to catch a glimpse of one of the friendly fellas.
