Our experience with Giltedge Africa was fantastic. We worked with Lisa who was very knowledgeable about activities and timing of our days and travel. She organized our tours and we had guides that were not only knowledgable, but also personable and fun to be around. We would highly recommend Lisa and Giltedge to anyone traveling in South Africa. The only constructive feedback we would give, which is likely also our fault for not alerting them ahead of time, is to make sure transfer cars have enough room for large amounts of luggage!

They were SUPER! Everything was WELL organized ahead of time. We were met at the airport by their representative and we were handed a copy of our itinerary. We knew exactly what to expect and everything was PERFECT! They never disappointed. Their drivers/guides were always on time, spoke English, and were most accommodating.

Generally good, but very disappointed that they did not know that the Apartheid Museum would be closed on Mondays when we were scheduled to visit. Also didn’t know that the Dylan Lewis sculpture garden would be closed the day we were planning to visit. I expected more from a local agent that specializes in this country. Having said that, the quality of the guides we had was excellent and Giltedge arranged replacement events for the ones we missed.

Giltedge personnel were excellent. Our Rwanda guide, Karem, and our Tanzania guide, Adam, were both top quality and ensured we got the most possible out of our time in these wonderful countries. The lodgings chosen were the best: their locations placed us close to the action and the quality, personnel, and food were beyond compare. We highly recommend Gitedge for your travel adventures. Giltedge service was wonderful. We were met at the plane, had help getting through airport, customs, and transport to and from accommodations. Thomas even arranged for a Nairobi city tour for us at the last minute. The Safari camps were beautiful, luxurious and the people were so sweet. (Wilder properties )They couldn't do enough for us. Both our guides, Yusuf at River Camp Ol Pejeta, and Jackie, at Entim Private Wing, on the Masai Mara, did excellent tracking for us, they would never give up! We saw everything we were looking for!

Giltedge did wonderful work helping us plan our Africa adventure. We visited South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. All details and arrangements were perfect and we feel as though we saw a large cross-section of Southern Africa. The title of this review is a once in a lifetime trip but that is not really true as we are anxious to use our travel advisor and Giltedge to plan another trip very soon. who knows...maybe a third trip too.

Good, but a misunderstanding?

Everyone we dealt with at Giltedge in both Tanzania and Kenya was professional, punctual, responsive, and thorough. There was one glitch, though. After being told that our extra bags, not needed on our Serengeti safari, could be stored in the local office in Arusha, Tanzania, and brought to us upon departure from there to Nairobi free of charge, the regional representative then attempted to charge us for bag storage. As was often the case in Tanzania, it seemed like "everyone had their hand out" for more US dollars. We didn't respond to his request (we'd already left Tanzania by then) nor did we pay anything.

Giltedge Travel did a phenomenal job for our family of 15's trip to South Africa. Booking 5 star safari accommodations, both in Victoria Falls and at Madikwe Game Reserve , everything was PERFECT for our 8 grandkids ages 2 through 12.
Madikwe is "smaller" (185,000 acres-- still HUGE!!! :-)) than Kruger but malaria-free. We saw TONS of animals and our guides were fantastic. Thank you, Talia, for making our trip so flawless and wonderful.
