Great riverboat cruise

By: Silver Spring Joyce

Reviewed on: 31 Jul 2019

The American Duchess is a very comfortable riverboat. Our inside cabin was roomier than others we've had on other lines and we even had a walk-in closet. All boat personnel, including entertainers were very friendly, helpful and personable. Lectures by Bobby, the riverlorian, were extremely informative. The points of interest in each port were very representative of each town or city, and the extra premium excursions were for the most part reasonably priced. Hop on, hop off busses and their drivers were comfortable and the local guides on each bus were knowledgeable about their towns. Our cruise was 16 days duration, starting in Memphis and ending in Pittsburgh. Next year this cruise will be two 9 day cruises, Memphis to Louisville and Louisville to Pittsburgh.

Nice Ship, Less Passengers

We liked the ship. Having only 166 passengers was realy a plus! The ship was very clean and we had no problem getting to all of the areas on the ship within minutes. We hope to book another cruise on the American Duchess.

Lower Mississippi River Cruise

The American Duchess was very nicely appointed. The state rooms were very comparable to your larger cruise ships. The staff were friendly, very knowledgeable and well organized. The shore excursions gave you the option to see as much or as little as you desired. If you enjoy civil war history, then this would be the cruise for you. The evening shows/entertainment were very good for a smaller boat. The cooperating hotels such as the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN were excellent. The on board dining offered a variety of southern and cajun cuisine. The main coarses were tasty, however the deserts fell a little short would be my only negative statement.
