Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

Natural Hot Springs Resort at the base of Arenal Volcano in the heart of the Rainforest

Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

A stream from hot springs runs along the base of Arenal Volcano – and behind the entire health spa concept of Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa. Few experiences are as healing as soaking in these mineral-rich waters, listening to the rain forest’s soundtrack play through an open-air spa bungalow. Indulge in a volcanic mud wrap or coffee exfoliation after hiking in the jungle, zip-lining through its canopy, kayaking, or white-water rafting. The 103 accommodations feature furnishings and handicrafts from local artisans; families find a variety of connecting rooms and suites with pint-size amenities.

Hotel Tip

For a unique culinary experience, arrange for the resort’s Ephemeral Table Dinner in a private rain-forest bungalow, attended by your personal chef and server.

    Sustainability

    Our Commitment

Sustainability is in Tabacon’s DNA. Our founder was passionate about Nature and protecting the environment, and his vision is alive in all facets of our operation. In the CR government sustainability program CST we originally ranked at 5 out of 5 leaves. Highlights include:

    • State of the Art Water Treatment Facilities - Tabacon’s new $700 K water treatment plan assures that all water used in the hotel is treated and reused for irrigation.
    • Zero Single Use Plastic – this ongoing program has reduced the use of plastic straws, bottled water and bathroom amenities.
    • Over 600 acres of protected primary and secondary rainforest; plant a tree program to educate and motivate guests to protect the forests.
    • Continuous support and collaboration for local schools at all levels, from improvement of infrastructure to providing training opportunities, thus educating the future leaders of tourism in Arenal
