Palazzo Manfredi

Palazzo Manfredi

Echoes of ancient chariots rise from the Colosseum, which appears within arm’s reach of Hotel Palazzo Manfredi. (A gladiator school once stood outside the hotel’s door.) Yet this 16th-century palazzo dazzles with more than just its jaw-dropping views. The 14 rooms and suites fuse Palladian wallpaper, faux fur, Roman busts and eel skin–topped tables to surprisingly successful effect; windows overlooking the monument are a must. Sip a Bellini in the bar before slipping behind a plate of lobster medallions on the Aroma restaurant terrace. The concierge can arrange private tours with the city’s top guides.

Hotel Tip

Take the house Lamborghini out for a spin; you can even reserve it for a day trip to the Umbrian hill town of Orvieto or the Frascati wine region.

Palazzo Manfredi was very nice. It was sumptuous and refined in its tastes and elegant decor, but - a bit presumptuous (as reflected in the behavior of some staff). We had a few problems with the technology in our room, and - ran into problems trying to get a drink in the bar (to celebrate our anniversary). Plus side, though, was the incredible view from our room and generous accommodations made when our reserved suite was occupied by others. Some of the service team members were phenomenal.

Lovely boutique hotel. Incredible view of Coliseum from the bedroom and bath. Very expensive but charming.

Very nice hotel. Great location. Very expensive. Restaurant is over-rated. On Saturday night, a bar across the street ran until 4am with young people out in the street drinking and singing and yelling. No sleep.
