Given that 59 Deveees North is in Norway, they had no presence in Greenland whatsoever. While they were able to arrange the activities we requested, we had no single point person in Greenland. We felt on our own on a daily basis. This may have been due to a lack of personal experience with Greenland and more specifically the town where we visited. Since this is a national heritage site, I would have expected greater familiarity.

Did not get what we had hoped for overall on our trip to Iceland. The only part of our trip that was planned for us and we loved was at The Blue Lagoon. Did not get "guided" tours, got pick up and drop off at destinations. Planning done on own and helped put together by our agent was better than what 50 Degrees North did for us.

My travel agent worked directly with 50 North in planning our trip. I can say that all of our tours were professional and fun. Also, when the weather caused restrictions on some of the planned activities, the company was quick to find a suitable alternative. Hotels were very nice, tour operators were good, private guides were stellar and informative, particularly those with Mountain Guides. Would definitely use 50 Degrees North again.
Only complaint was one tour operator (Artic Adventures) had buses that were so compact we all had to turn and leave our legs in the aisle, and I'm not tall. While the sites were beautiful and the tour guide knowledgeable, the long sardine-can bus ride was very difficult. Perhaps they were the only operators sending trips to our desired locations, unsure of that detail.

I would definitely use 50 Degrees North again. They planned our trip, which was perfect. There were 4 people in our group and they had something for all of us, and we all enjoyed everything we did. Leena our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. She made the walking tour a lot fun and we learned a lot. Hotels they choose were great and I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Anna was super helpful when we encountered some minor issues on our trip - she was readily available to help . We had an absolutely amazing time in Sweden & Finland. I would highly recommend visiting this area- I would only recommend going a bit later as we didn’t have much snow even in early December :(

We had no idea what to expect when going to Lapland and up to the Arctic Circle but we're thankful Victoria had us working with 50 Degrees North. They were great through the entire process to include our time at Camp Ripan, The Ice Hotel & in Abisko. We didn't go to the Arctic Circle for anything but chasing the northern lights and the companies 50 Degrees used to help us do that were spot on. While in Kiruna we met reindeer, snowmobiled at night under the lights, ate by fireside in a cabin with no electricity and dog sledded with an amazing group of tour guides and wonderful dogs. On our way up to Absiko we sadly had a train cancellation and while we were able to go later in the day 50 Degrees made sure we were all set. Once in Absiko we were able to experience the lights two times more with a dinner at the Abisko Light Station (over dinner) + a photography course with Harry and Lights over Lapland. Amazing trip and thankful Victoria & 50 Degrees did to give us those memories.

Fifty Degrees North was contacted by Amanda Klimak of Largay Travel to arrange a personalized tour for me and my wife to Finland and Russia. Fifty Degrees North basically offered prepackaged private tours, "Glass Igloo Stay in Finland", and "St. Petersburg and Moscow in Style" which, with my questions and input, we customized to a limited degree. While the overall trip was well planned and enjoyable, some of the activities were quite touristy (reindeer farm visit, Izmailhovsky Market, tour of Vladimir, etc), and not particularly special or luxurious. Given that I never made cost an issue, I would have hoped that more unique and individualized activities could have been proposed. I must say the private guide (Marina Karpova) and car and driver in St. Petersburg was outstanding, and by comparison the guide in Moscow was less so, although acceptable. And having now experienced the "Golden Ring" tour of Vladimir and Suzdal (particularly the Azimut Hotel) I would not recommend it.

We travelled to Iceland with 50 Degrees North and joined a modified vehicle bus tour that took us off the beaten track through the highlands and to many amazing waterfalls and sites. They organised us to visit the Blue Lagoon on the way to our hotel. The tour included very good quality accommodation and meals. It was more active than a standard bus tour but could have offered more activities...the hiking options were limited as our group consisted of people who were not able to participate. We understand the guide needs to accommodate different levels of fitness and he did so very well. It would be great to have a tour designed for active people so that more options were possible...especially hiking. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking at Landmannalaugar and a dip in the natural hot springs. This was breathtaking and an unforgettable highlight...fire & ice. We extended our stay in Reykjavik to go ice climbing but a helicopter/ice cave tour would be a great option. We loved Iceland! Thank you!

50 Degrees North did a great job. Excellent choice of hotels in the best of positions. Spot on ground transport arrangements, transfers and flight. Good guides with the "meet and greet" option being a particularly good idea for do it yourselfers. Helps tremendously to orientate and set you on the right path without being committed to a guided tour. Would definately use them again.

Because of the Corona pandemic raging at the time of our scheduled trip, border closures and airline cancellations, we cancelled our trip to Northern Europe including three countries.
Because of the above conditions, ever airline and ground reservation issued a full rebate, EXCEPT 50 Degrees North.

We had an incredible experience! The itinerary built for us was absolutely perfect with a nice blend of activity, luxury and leisure. Having the right mix of structure and free-time was also very important to us and 50 Degrees North nailed it! We were blown away by some of the accommodations and level of detail. The itinerary checked every box that we had for this trip. We were already talking about some of the places we would absolutely return to someday. This was a trip that we will truly remember for the rest of our lives and we are truly thankful for that!

The trip was amazing! Extremely well-organized. We felt like we truly got to experience everything we wanted to while in Finland! The excursions and lodgings suggested were exactly what we expected and all the transportation was well-timed and comfortable. The glass igloo was an amazing experience as was the Snow Hotel. These were unique experiences that we enjoyed so much!! The visit to the Santa in Levi was truly magical! The company and our planner were very responsive to any questions we had while traveling. I would very much recommend this experience to anyone wanting to travel to this area!

Our tour with 50 Degrees North started off perfectly. We arrived at Ovalo airport and were greeted by the fantastic Aurora Lodge staff. The 3 nights at the lodge were fantastic, seeing the northern lights every night and doing the dogsledding being the highlights. The snow hotel in Kirkenes was something else (absolutely beautiful) and the king crab fishing was fantastic.
We then boarded the Havila Castor for the boat trip down the coast of Norway. This is not a cruise ship. On our 5 day voyage we had 33 stops, only 5 being where you could get off the ship. The other stops were to deliver or pick up goods, mainly cod. The strong smell of the cod could be smelt on the 4th deck and up the stairwells, putrid was the description given by 1 guest. On the day of departure we had to vacate our rooms by 10am for a 3.30pm arrival in Bergen. My wife got sea sick and had to lay on the floor until docking. There is absolutely no entertainment at all. All our group gave this definite NO GO.

We were very pleased with 50 Degrees North. We had originally booked this trip for March, 2020 and they were able to rebook it for March 2023. All of the transfers went smoothly. We enjoyed all of the activities and were able to change the ones that we did not wish to do. The guides in each location were outstanding, knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly. The hotels were excellent, in convenient locations. The highlight was an evening snowshoe walk in Abisko National Park, Sweden, where we saw the most amazing display of the Northern Lights!

Outstanding, once in a lifetime experiences

We are so lucky that our travel advisor, Danielle Dybiec, planned our vacation with 50 Degrees North. They planned a once in a lifetime vacation with experiences that we will never forget based on our interests which include adventuring, ziplining, biking, hiking and food. 50 Degrees North thought of everything, including backup experiences in case of inclement weather. Even the hotels were geared around our interests, including staying at an explorer's hotel only accessible by train or bike where they film Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. They planned a bike trip on the Rallarvegen that included zip lining down a mountain! They also planned a fjord cruise to a hike up a mountain to a goat farm. We overlooked the fjords while eating cheese from the goats we were just petting. How cool is that?!?! They were communicative with any issues or questions we had. We highly recommend them!

50 Degrees North did a beautiful job. We were especially pleased with the Grand Joanne Hotel and the Hey Captain tour in Copenhagen. Also, we loved our driver from the airport to the hotel. Highly recommend using a driver, especially with international luggage. We also loved the Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam, easily the coolest hotel in which we have ever stayed.

50 Degrees North delivered an amazingly professional and well designed set of experiences. Their efficiency was remarkable as each transfer, excursion, and experience was flawless in its execution. The logistics were easy and each individual engaged was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. At one point we missed a tour (due to our own inattention) and they were relentless in tracking us down to determine if we were available and knew that an event was scheduled. This is definitely a quality operator and I will look to use them again if possible and strongly advise using their services.

50 Degrees North provided excellent service and experiences with friendly and knowledgeable guides. They were on time, had new equipment, kept us warm and fed with local snacks, shared interesting stories and seem to generally enjoy their jobs entertaining and educating us. My twenty something daughters and I had a magnificent time. One of our guides went out of her way to take us after our activity by a bakery for a special Finland treat and waited while we shopped in a the grocery store to get souvenirs! So hospitable! Highly recommend.

The transportation from the ship to the hotel, the hotel to the train, the train to the next hotel and the hotel to the airport was excellent - the drivers were waiting earlier than promised.
The tour guide in Copenhagen was outstanding and gave us fantastic experience. She obviously had put a lot of thought into the itinerary and what to talk about. She was able to change finishing her tour at a museum that we requested. She was an expert.
The guide in Stockholm was good but did not give us the sense of an organized tour.
Bottom line, this Operator performed without missing any of the appointments on an extensive schedule.

While we did not have control selecting the tour operator, we have no complaints. Our guide, Baddi, was great- gave us enough time as a family to appreciate the stops, made good decisions on the stops based on weather, 'entertained' the group from children to well-traveled.
Traveling with children, I think the itinerary could have had more details about length of the stops. It was good detailing what we had to bring. Having the motor coach all to ourselves was very convenient as we had freedom to leave things safely as we toured!

50 Degrees North pulled together a comprehensive itinerary with many moving parts,...overnight ferry, fast trains, slow trains, and public city tour transportation etc...and it was smooth sailing from beginning to end. The tour guides were exceptional and the accommodations were exceptional in the larger cities. It was a memorable 2 weeks in Scandinavia!

Excellent proactive support when train schedule was changed.
Most hotels and tour guides were excellent. The overall itinerary for 2 weeks was well planned. All drivers and tour guides were prompt. The itinerary was easy to follow allowing us to enjoy this multi country vacation. They even thought to have our luggage transported between 2 hotels giving us the freedom to travel with backpacks for several days..

The tour operator tailored my itinerary perfectly so that I could do my desired hikes, namely Pulpit Rock, Kjerag Boulder and Trolltunga. The boat/bus transfers in-between destinations were well planned and everything went smoothly. The hotels we stayed at were of the highest standard, particularly in Bergen & Ulvik. The one hiccup I had with a sub-contracting guide was dealt with immediately and I was recompensed appropriately. The follow up from the Australian Head Office and Norway staff was very good. I would highly recommend 50 Degrees North.

On our last day our flight did'nt leave till 5pm so we wanted to add an activity before we departed- we were able to contact 50 degrees they were able to contact the local tour guide and we had the same guide for all three days and they added the excursion very easily. They were wonderful to work with and now I want to visit their other travel destinations because of their amazing customer service.

There were a few parts of our itinerary on which we could have been better informed about what to expect ahead of time by 50 Degrees North. Some details or a link with more information would have been helpful. For example, our itinerary included a stay at a hotel near the Blue Lagoon. The hotel had a free shuttle to the Blue Lagoon. But we were not advised ahead of time that we might require a reservation. When we got there, they were fully booked. Hotels and shuttles arranged by 50 Degrees North were all good.

Used 50 Degrees North for our recent trip to Finland and Norway. They got us the best accommodations and handled are transfers. Overall a great trip and experience.
Only improvement that could/should have been made was with activities pre booked at Aurora Village in Finland. I had specifically requested and activity to photograph the Aurora. 50 Degrees booked us on a snowmobile excursion. Problem was it was not intended to be for photography or even Aurora sighting. We canceled that excursion and booked a Van excursion that specifically targeted Aurora sighting and photography. I had to pay extra for this at the Aurora Village. Unfortunately the snowmobile excursion that we had to cancel was refunded.

Our experience with 50 degrees North was exceptional. Lapland during winter is a must do and 50 degrees North took all the hassle/ worry out of the process. Although more expensive than other options, all food and activities were included which made our Finland trip seamless and also effortless. We also loved how the trip was tailored to just us so unlike other touring platforms, we did everything solo or in small groups and at our own pace. Overall would highly recommend using this agency.

After doing some research we felt the recommendations made by 50 degrees North were not what we would have chosen as a luxury adventure. One day in one location, three days in another and then two more nights back in the same location was a lot of moving around and seemed unnecessary. The hotel in Tromso, Norway was mid range. Beds were awful and our room was so small we could hardly move around. We shared transportation with another couple and they were both ill. We had asked for private transport to try and avoid this very thing. Needless to say we ended up sick on our vacation. Make sure you research carefully your hotels and schedule before you say yes to bookings they arrange.

Fifty Degrees North planned a ten day Norway adventure for us two travelers. They did a great job in giving us a fantastic itinerary that included all methods of travel - train, car, and boat. The accommodations were excellent - not big chains, but interesting and charming places that represent the Norwegian hospitality. The itinerary was well detailed and clearly articulated. Highlights of the journey were also detailed - including bakeries! The itinerary was designed as a "self tour" but it was so easy and everything was convenient - all the tickets were provided in advance as the driving routes. I would definitely recommend Fifty Degrees North for your Norwegian adventure!

It was a disappointment. Mistakes were made in the planning for hotels, cruises, etc. they did own up to making a mistake on the cruise room assignment, but the refund did not make up for the Significant error. The customer service number and staff were not helpful and I am still waiting for a response on the last inquiry I made. It is doubtful that I will be using this company again.

Norway was beautiful and overall this was a great trip. The only real complaint might be the driver. While we knew we would not get a guide, the driver did not speak very good English and thus we had challenges communicating with him. This made it very difficult to do the full day drive from Lom to Aurland. We ended up at the lunch stop almost 2 hours after it was scheduled. And we missed a couple of key viewpoints. At one point we had to intervene on his route or we would have ended up going a long way in the wrong direction. The ferry boat ride on the final day could have been skipped or substituted with something different.

We could not find anything to remotely criticize. All the hotels were excellent, particularly the Grand Hotel Stockholm and the 71 Nyhavn Hotel in Copenhagen. The transfers all worked flawlessly and guides excellent. Our stay in Aurland was a standout to experience mountains and fjords. We love walking tours and averaged more than 12,000 steps per day. the Royal Copenhagen Tour and Hamlet's Castle were standouts. Overall, the program was a triumph and executed without any issues.

We didn't have to interact with the company because our advisor booked everything, and we didn't run into any problems in country. But that speaks to well run logistics. The guides we had in Stockholm and Copenhagen were great. They were very knowledgeable and engaging. I learned a lot and had a great time with them. They were able to adapt to the fact that I had been to both cities and seen some of the more common sites before. I saw and learned lots of new things. When we were up north, our activities were coordinated with the hotels, but we had good itineraries worked out. All of our travel worked smoothly. One train ride was swapped for a bus, but they had encouraged us to check the status before hand so we were prepared. Overall a wonderful trip.

Clean, nice and friendly! The foods were delicious but our room is too, too small for the price we paid. I saw other room were way larger than ours!
They should have cleaned the walkways around their lodge better. It was like ice skating every time I stepped out of the lodge. Even the patio was slippery to get out to see the northern lights! Have to pray each time the van was leaving the lodge going down the hill to a T-section with the ocean in the front!

We had a memorable trip but none of our tours were private. We loved the visit to Santa, husky ride and sleigh ride, we would pass on snow Mo biking and ice fishing and we would have added a day of skiing. We were scheduled to have dinner at the hotel every night and had the exact same dinner on Christmas Eve and Dinner. Wish we could have had a planned dinner somewhere else since the food was exactly the same both nights.
They were completely unhelpful when my sons were stranded at the KTT airport.
Estonia was great, however I wish the tour would have included touring the wall.
We loved the ferry ride to Helsinki.
In Helsinki we would have like more activities planned, especially a sauna. Our tour guide did not provide enough history as requested and she skipped the food tasting.
We still had a great time, but wanted to provide feedback so others can make their experience even better!

My husband and I went on a nine day trip through Norway in Finland over the holidays organized by 50° north. Everything was top-notch! The trip much exceeded our expectations. The hotels were more than comfortable, beautiful great locations. The activities were better than we could’ve expected! In Norway, we went on a fjord Safar,i floating sauna (with our own plane plunge!) and one of the most beautiful train rides in the world! In Finland, we went above the Arctic circle to Ivalo stayed in a cabin with a glass roof and slept under the northern lights over New Year’s. We also went snowmobiling cross country skiing, fed reindeer and husky dog sledding. Everything was above and beyond to what we could’ve imagined!

Amazing Northern Lights Adventure

It was nice for our travel advisor to be able to work with one company to put together a comprehensive adventure for us. This trip had a great combination of tours and down time. When we were in Iceland, we were on the go much of the time, as our sights and hotels spanned some distance. What a wonderous country! We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Reykavik with Nori! Hotel Saga was great, but we really enjoyed the hotels which were in the middle of nowhere (Land Hotel and Foss Hotel). So charming and comfortable. From walking to a glacier to the multitude of waterfalls to the National Park to soaking in the Blue Lagoon - we loved our time in Iceland!
The best was yet to come though at the Aurora Village in the Lapland of Finland! What a magical experience!! We loved our domed cabin to see the sky. The all inclusive meals at the lodge were fabulous. We chased the Northern Lights AND CAUGHT THEM! We went dog sledding & snowmobiling - both fabulous.

The Icelandic people, truly unique environment, and truly outstanding staff members of the onsite contractor ( Southcoast Adventure) made this an outstanding experience for us. The detractions we faced were that the steps in the Trip App to guide us through the various pickups and drop offs were not carried out as described. Advance contact by drivers to give peace of mind the day before never happened, and when a driver did not show up, we had to followup to rectify, and push back on solutions like hauling all our own luggage to the place he was misdirected to. When that problem happened, there was no followup by 50 degrees, and their eventual attempt to not take ownership, but blame the subcontractor added to our sense that at no point did they connect with us as their customer, and own any difficulties and adjust as necessary. Their planned events were not possible in the time allotted,with us missing some components paid for. Not the experience we expected for the value charged.

Very Good Experience with 50 Degrees North

Very pleased with hotels and other logistics selected by 50 Degrees North. Excellent hotel locations. Nice hotel facilities in fairly remote locations -- we never could have come up with these on our own. Each had restaurant for breakfast and dinner that were quite good -- well beyond expectations. Overall very good experience.
