American Excursionist

We took two private tours: one for the historical aspect and one for history of jazz. Both were amazing and would do them again. We were fortunate to have Tyler as a guide and he was top notch. I can’t say enough positive about him: intelligent, personable, knowledgeable and entertaining. We had a private car as well and would recommend that as well.

Absolutely delightful...it was a treat for us four women...our driver, Cesar was soooo nice to us and helpful in everything we asked of him...He was very knowledgeable about the city and sights...always punctual when picking us up...he was a real gentleman...I will recommend him to any of my friends traveling to that area....thank you very much for making our trip very special...

The LA downtown food tour was superb! Sally with Sixtastes was a great guide! We got excellent food from different cultures while learning about downtown's history. Definitely will do again!

Complicated connections and layovers went smoothly and on time.

They were there for us every step of the way and the guides were very knowledgeable and professional.

The three activities planned by American Excursionist were outstanding. There were, however, glitches in payment which we did in advance, but which vendors say they did not receive. We never met a director for American Excursionist which would have made evaluating easier. The pick-ups by vendors were on time, and all vendors were professional.

Very accommodating stay with sufficient activities for a couple who want to see things without exerting a lot of physical effort.

Tracey was our guide and she was just delightful. She guided us through the town of Carmel to our food and shopping stops and as she did that, she gave us a tour of the town along the way. She was warmly greeted by all the shopkeepers and dining establishment owners/staff. They knew her and welcomed us with open arms. Her personality is a great asset to her tour. She is a very smart lady and one we enjoyed spending time with.

American Excursionist was incredibly helpful in planning our Honeymoon to Saint Lucia! They helped out with amenities, prices, and transportation. Thanks to American Excursionist, we got some great perks at the resort! Made the the experience an absolute pleasure!

Excursionist was “by our side” the time we landed until our trip was completed. Although we didn’t really rely on them because our road trip was planned so well, they always checked in to connect us with our guides and itinerary on the next adventure. They were very reliable and of high quality, working with very experienced personnel. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.

Larry did a wonderful job hooking us up with tour guides at each of the national parks we visited last September. The guides significantly enhanced the enjoyment of our trip. Most of our accommodations we above average. We recommend using Larry and will do so for our future traveling.

A couple of tours were not on time. The tour guides were given a different time than the one assigned me. Some did not have my cell phone number, but the number of DeRon in Florida. I was given an office number, rather than the cell number of the guide & we could not get in touch. Almost missed my helicopter ride in the Grand Canyon. The guide was given the time of the ride to pick me up.

Very good follow up

Suffice it to say that after my last experience with American Excursionist, I will never use them for any trip again. The whole build up to the trip was incredibly challenging with slow response times, inaccurate information, and unprofessional services. -I never had an accurate itinerary -My operator (Daniel) was unprofessional, slow and sloppy. Often he wouldn't respond to messages or phone calls for days at a time. -I received tickets minutes before events were to start and only after my prompting. -In an eleven day trip, there was an issue on all but four. Only after a manager got involved did the last four days of the trip go smoothly. I paid a premium for their services and most certainly will never pay that premium to them again. I have now spoken to several colleagues who have used them previously, all with similar experience. There are other operators out there with much better services and capabilities.

Excellent experience with American Excursionist! I’m not certain how to put into words the experience we realized! This way of travel and adventure provides one the ability to explore the world at heights simply not attainable on our own! I truly believed no one could design an itinerary that could ever begin to compare to trips I have personally planned for myself, trips where I’ve spent over a year researching and organizing (because no one would ever know exactly what “my preferences” are!!). I’m sorry to report that until this trip, I’ve truly never experienced 5Star travel in my lifetime! These are professionals who take your individual dreams and make them a reality, a reality that makes your dreams seem dull!

American Excursionist did a great job. Our guide in Jackson Hole (Mike) and our guide in Yellowstone (Rhiana) were both fantastic. They knew their areas incredibly well. And as a result, we were able to see some of the prettiest scenery and fascinating wildlife in the United States.

Josie at American Excursionist was very attentive to us while we were in Charleston. She helped to make our anniversary trip a very memorable trip for us. She checked on us every day and at each event our anniversary was recognized. It was a wonderful experience!

Good job with a few issues. Not happy with the hotel rooms and facilities. Very pleased with the tour guides in Montréal and Quebec City. Both were outstanding and would love to see them again..

Everything went as close to perfect as you can get ! I received notices throughout the entire trip with regard to the next step in our adventure. Any question I had dur the trip was responded to immediately.. a great trip that left many along our travels in awe !

This was the first time we used Excursionist and we couldn’t have been happier with them. They promptly answered all of our questions/concerns before our trip, and their responses greatly reduced my usual pre-trip anxiety. We also couldn’t have asked for a better/more thorough personal trip concierge than Martin. He checked in with us daily (sometimes twice a day) to see how we were doing and to confirm our itinerary for the next day, including things that I had set up myself. We only had one tiny snafu which was not even their fault but he took care of it immediately! Otherwise, the trip went off flawlessly, and we had an incredible time!

American Excursionist planned and customized our trip, but sadly we needed to cancel because of my health concerns. Their knowledge of the parks and suggestions for the trip were very appreciated, it was very easy to work with this company.

We had a lovely and memorable time on our trip to Florida and we have American Excursionist to thank for that.

We had an amazing Hawaii trip! We enjoyed getting to spend quite a bit of time on 2 islands and experiencing the differences between the two. We also enjoyed getting to spend 2 days on the Big Island to satisfy my desire to try to see Kilauea the volcano erupting. All of the guides we had on the trip were phenomenal! They were personable and extremely knowledgeable. We all fell in love with Hawaii!

We recently planned a trip to New England with the help of our travel advisor, Brittany, and tour operator, American Excursionist, where we worked with Santiago. Both were absolutely fantastic! Brittany’s travel app was a game-changer—it guided us day by day with all the details we needed. The hotels she chose were wonderful, and the planned events were spot on. Santiago and the American Excursionist team delivered excellent tours and experiences that really brought each destination to life. I also added some of my own activities, and Brittany seamlessly incorporated them into the app so our itinerary was complete in one place. Everything went smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier with the service from both Brittany and Santiago. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed all aspects of our trip and were able to truly soak up all that the Canadian Rockies have to offer!

Our private tours were fun and informative. Angie, in Montreal, took us on a great walking tour of the city. She was so nice, enthusiastic and informed. In Quebec City we had a great walking tour with Marie who really went above and beyond by not only taking us on a walking tour, but personally taking us to see The Plains of Abraham, which was something we wanted to see, but was not on our schedule. And Eve took us on a day long tour that included the Falls of Montmorency and many stops on the island of Orleans. All were excellent!
