Condado Vanderbilt Hotel

Condado Vanderbilt Hotel

There’s a storied history behind the Spanish Revival facade of classic Condado Vanderbilt Hotel. Built in 1919 by Frederick William Vanderbilt as a high-toned tropical retreat, the 319-room hotel soon became the center of island society, welcoming everyone from Errol Flynn to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its graceful archways and sweeping staircases harken back to those bygone days, while a meticulous renovation brings 21st-century elegance. Native son Chef Juan José Cuevas returned from the Big Apple to create a tantalizing, island-sourced menu. Couples of all kinds bond over the spa’s Time for Two journeys.

Hotel Tip

Be sure to specify whether you want a room in the original building or the more contemporary East and West Vanderbilt Towers.

Check-in/check out processes are long and tedious. Need more staff that is trained. Overall service is good, but not exceptional. Bellmen staff excellent, in every way.

    great hotel and location

The hotel is beautiful - the suites wonderful and the amenities with the suites, great! Having planned this trip well in advance, 2 of our 3 suites were not ready, which was a bit disappointing, but the front desk staff did their best to remedy that issue and gave us a room credit. It took a bit to get the rooms, so we walked around the grounds. The restaurants, especially Ola, is a wonderful way to start your day with the breakfast buffet and staff, so cheery and friendly. Lobby, pool areas, restaurants, etc. keep very clean and inviting. I would return without hesitation.

Needed a hotel pre cruise and this was our only choice as many hotels in San Juan were still suffering after fall 2017 storms that damaged these islands. Lovely hotel. Great restaurant.

We loved staying at the Condado Vanderbilt hotel in Puerto Rico The hotel itself was very elegant and classic, beautiful rooms, and friendly staff. It is conveniently located where tons of restaurants are within walking distance. We stayed 5 nights and could have stayed 5 more! It has its own small private beach and plenty of other space by the pools or decks with gorgeous views of the water and coastline.
