Elegant, historic buildings with terrific staff, restaurant & location

My wife & I spend 2 nights at the hotel & could not have been happier. We had a lovely room overlooking a canal & had dinner at Bridges on a crowded Friday evening before King's Day (26 April). Our meal was one of the best ever with impeccable service; only the rose wine was a disappointment. We toured the hotel with a customer service representative - well worth doing in this historic building that was originally two convents. The hotel's staff was uniformly outstanding - friendly, warm, helpful. The Concierge desk helped out quickly & thoroughly with several requests/questions. The hotel's location is terrific for sightseeing.

I felt I got ripped off by having to pay $900 CDN for a rather ordinary accommodation. The service was excellent which one would expect. The location was also excellent.

The Sofitel Legend has it all. It offers elegance, luxury and a great canal location. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and responsive to our needs. The food was first rate; especially the breakfast buffet. The staff made us feel special from arrival to departure. We arrived on my birthday and was greeted by a bottle of complimentary champagne, a`delicious birthday cake and chocolate. We received an upgraded room overlooking the canal. Our visit to Amsterdam was amazing and the Sofitel was a major part of this experience.

The Grand Amsterdam is a fabulous hotel. It is very comfortable and the staff is extremely friendly. It is a very old hotel but it is updated with the latest technology. The decor is very beautiful and not formal or stuffy. The breakfast is especially delicious and the staff is extremely attentive. The lovely dining room is on the canal with large windows. It would be better if the eggs and bacon were on the breakfast menu instead of having to order it. The rest of the hotels that we stayed in had eggs on their breakfast buffet, which is more convenient.

Sofitel Legend is truly a 5 star hotel. The staff are as friendly, helpful, attentive and courteous as they could possible be. The Concierge staff is amazing: patient, knowledgeable. They always have several on duty so there is no long wait. The restaurants serve excellent food. The breakfasts are great-try the Norwegian benedict. Again, the restaurant manager and wait staff were outstanding. The location is great for touring Amsterdam. Hotel is immaculate. We took the short guided tour, which discussed the hotel history (why it is entitled "legend") and showed some of the interesting parts of the hotel. Room service was outstanding, including a small surprise each evening.

Outstanding 5+ star hotel. First discovered Sofitel in NYC and love the French touch. The Amsterdam Sofitel is in a historic property renovated. My virtuoso travel agent suggested it and as usual she was right! We had 5 rooms with 11 in our party and each room was beautifully decorated. We had two of the apartments on the canal - spectacular. Could walk everywhere. Service impeccable - as much or as little as you wish.

The hotel is historic and classic, but it's as modern and up-to-date as any hotel around. The facilities are beautiful and well appointed, with outstanding artwork everywhere you look. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing hotel. Our room was unbelievable. The people so nice. Had some Internet problems so called the front desk and within 3 minutes someone was at the door and resolved it. Then offered to bring me more outlet converters which I needed. I would stay here again. No doubt!

Hotel location in center , hotel is nice good service however for My next visit to Amsterdam i would prefer to be a bit more far from The dam street.

Fun in Amsterdam

The hotel was in the heart of everything. We walked a short distance to have great Chinese food and took a ride on a ferris wheel the first day. The breakfast served at the hotel was fabulous and included champagne . The staff went out of the way to to make arrangements at the Hermitage for hard to get tickets.
