Sustainability
Our Commitment
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO #RANCHRESPONSIBLY?
At Carmel Valley Ranch, we understand that the natural wonder of our 500-acre playground means we have a responsibility to be a leader in sustainability—promoting responsible practices, nurturing inclusivity, and protecting our place of play for generations to come. That is the genesis of #RanchResponsibly, an initiative aimed at pursuing continuous improvement, inspiring our guests, and celebrating our successes.
In 2024, The Ranch earned Green Key Global certification, a testament to our longstanding commitment to sustainability. This achievement reflects our compliance with the latest Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards, along with United Nations sustainable development goals. We received a rating of 4/5 keys for our efforts in areas including energy and water conservation, indoor air quality, land use, environmental management, and more.
Many aspects of our resort are designed to limit the impact to our wild neighbors: For instance, fertilizer use on our golf course is minimal, we have our own recycled water plant on site that supplies irrigation, and we produce many of our products while sourcing others locally. We also partner with the Carmel River Watershed Conservancy to help maintain the health of the Carmel River.
While we’re proud of our efforts, we’re continually striving to improve as well: Our Sustainability Committee focuses on new initiatives and industry leadership.
