Carmel Valley Ranch

A 500-acre playground with 300 days of sunshine offering all kinds of play, for all kinds of people.

Carmel Valley Ranch

When you visit Carmel Valley Ranch, plan to play — a lot — be it twirling on a tree swing, or swinging away on the Pete Dye–designed golf course (where you’ll likely encounter deer and a wild turkey or two). Spanning 500 acres of vineyards, lavender fields, scenic foothills and old-growth oaks, this sleek, 181-suite resort is all about pleasurable diversions. Hike the trails (they extend hundreds of miles), and practice your warrior pose on the hilltop yoga platform. Spend a day at the spa or in the hands-on Adventure Kitchen. Of course, there are plenty of activities for children, and for your four-legged friends as well.

Hotel Tip

Beehive experience is a must. You get suited up and learn about the queen bee, her helpers and the honey produced on property. Great activity for all ages. –Yvonne Verstandig Melbourne, Australia

A beautiful resort close by the town of Carmel and the scenery of Big Sur. The Carmel Valley Ranch is located perfectly for day trips, and if you don't want to go out, the resort offers you lots of choices!

Nice with glitches

We enjoyed our two days at Carmel Valley Ranch. The rooms were large and lovely. Important to know that this place is really spread out. It is also under construction so meals are in the Clubhouse which isn't that close to the rooms. The pool near the lodge is very nice but not much (any) staff around to help. Nice rooms, as a resort they need to get their act together a bit more.

Peace and Rest on a Long Road Trip

Sitting by the fireplace in our room, we marveled at how far we had driven, and had finally arrived at this resort for a bit of peace and quiet. We were not disappointed. The bed was comfortable, and the setting in the Carmel Valley is matchless. We wanted to stay longer and will definitely be back!

Love the Ranch

Beautiful setting and a staff that works hard to make sure you are happy with all aspects of your stay; accommodations, services, food. The real genius is the ability to entertain 3 generations so comfortably.

Nice property. Parts are a little dated but friendly staff and great for families. Would not recommend for couples or anyone who wants quiet. Lots of kids and babies so either bring yours or go elsewhere. Plenty of activities to do as a family

We had a fabulous time. From the farm to table restaurant, to the well appointed room, and the beautiful surroundings, the Ranch was exactly what we needed for a great two night getaway.

Too many service problems

By: Giandomenico Rende

Reviewed on: 27 Jun 2018

Our stay was a disaster......many, many problems with service.....quality of food deteriorating. We have been at the Ranch for over thirty years and everything is clearly getting worse. They are understaffed and the staff is poorly trained. Things got so bad that they did not charge us for a dinner and gave us a complimentary bottle of their top wine.
