Our Commitment
Paperless check-in and check-out: Save approximately 36,000 sheets of paper per month from the hotel’s operations.
Wooden key cards: replace 52,000 plastic key cards thrown away every year. Each week, approx. 1,000 plastic cards were being incorrectly discarded by guests. The new cards are made from wood and bamboo which are sourced from well-managed, plentiful, legally-harvested and sustainable hardwood forests; incorporate an RFID chip, laser-engraved logo and instructions; and are lightweight and durable.
Earth hour: Shangri-La participates as an active way to show Australians everywhere to join the movement to protect our planet. This year SLSN turned off main hotel signage, turn-off lighting in non-essential areas etc., ) as our contribution.
Urban beehives: Shangri-La Beehives have produced 2.5 tonnes of honey since 2013. It was the first harbourside hotel to introduce urban beehives. The honey produced is used to produce honeycomb and honey for the hotel.
