Auberge Saint-Antoine - Relais & Châteaux

Auberge Saint-Antoine - Relais & Châteaux

Auberge Saint-Antoine, a Relais & Châteaux member, is located in Québec City in the heart of Canada's richest historical district, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is, after all, North America’s first city. French and English colonial relics, discovered while the hotel was being built, now adorn the chic lobby and 95 luxurious guestrooms and suites. Original stone floors and soaring ceilings are lovingly preserved and complemented by contemporary furnishings and unsurpassed Bose sound systems. The farmhouse-inspired restaurant, Chez Muffy, offers seasonal cuisine and a rustically elegant setting for enjoying the river view.

Hotel Tip

While touring Île d’Orleans vineyards, stop by the hotel’s gourmet, pop-up restaurant at Vignoble Sainte-Pétronille. –Angie McDowell Toronto, Ontario

Excellent hotel and great service. The best french toast on the planet. Close to all attractions. A little pricey but there is value. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Dean was spot on for the Auberge Saint-Antoine recommendation.  The hotel staff was great from check-in (complimentary mini cupcakes delivered to the room) to check-out (cookies for the road).  The amenities in the room (great toiletries and a warm bathroom floor) totally exceeded my expectations.  The breakfast at Panache was fantastic as well.  I look forward to returning to this wonderful hotel.

Our stay at this hotel was so enjoyable. The minimalist interior is very restful after a day of sightseeing. The beautiful little windows displaying the found artifacts of the old warehouse housing the restaurant were fascinating. A lovely way to present history. We had a beautiful terrace rooming looking up at the stunning Hotel Frontenac. My husband and I agree that it was one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at. Panache restaurant was a real treat. We had a great time.

Mary is an easy-going pro in whom I put my total trust. We worked together as colleagues until my retirement. I am well aware of the high standards Mary sets for herself and feel totally confident of her abillity to intuit what we expect from a vacation, esp. since I have become handicapped., but still love to travel.

Without question, this is the finest hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many good ones. Our suite was lovely. The dining room was quaint and food best of the trip especially the French Toast at breakfast. Special kudos to staff at reception and the concierge desk. The staff went out of their way to be helpful from providing guidance to getting around the City to preparing boarding passes for us. Cannot say enough about this beyond the pale hotel.

We very much enjoyed our two nights at Auberge Saint-Antoine. It was nicely located in the middle of all the sights we wanted to visit. The breakfasts were sensational. While the Frontenac is a great hotel, it’s way to big for our taste. So glad Gena suggested we stay here.

the perfect place to stay

Excellent stay! Location is central to everything in the Old Port area with shopping, cafes, and charming places to stroll right outside the door. While the rooms are very comfortable and inviting, the service stands out even more with everyone from the bellboys to the concierge eager to help in any way possible. We had reserved a car to drive back to the US but didn't wish to have to go all the way to the airport to pick it up; the concierge called and arranged a close pick up location which avoided the cycle race going on that day. Breakfasts are lavish and delicious, the bar is comfortable and cozy. I would strongly recommend staying here since you can easily take the lift to the top to sightsee but can come back to the Old Port to eat dinner at fabulous cafes and stroll back to the hotel in the evenings.

The hotel was lovely. The concierge was very helpful; some of the front desk staff not as much. The restaurant was among the best I have ever eaten at. The biggest negative was the docking of a very large Disney cruise ship just next to the hotel. The ship was docked there for the entirety of our stay. It blocked our water view and music coming from the ship was incredibly loud -- it sounded as though it was right in our room. This would prevent me from choosing to stay there again even though we otherwise loved the hotel.

Convenient and Comfortable

This is a comfortable hotel, close, but not too close to the sites of Quebec City. It's down the hill from the Fontenac, but not part of the crowds....just a short walk to the vernicular and a quick trip up the hill. The hotel is surrounded by some nice restaurants and galleries. One caveat: When booking, you should know that there is a rather wide range of room sizes within categories. For example, we booked the Luxe King, and it must have been the smallest in that group.
