We just returned from a family trip for 10 in Burgundy. We have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the US - and we have never experienced better food or service. The rooms on the barge were quite comfortable, attractive and surprisingly large. The staff under the leadership of Anna is simply beyond compare. Excursions were enjoyed by our whole group - ranging in age from 25 to 81. This may seem expensive, but it is really a good value for a truly unforgettable experience.

A Delightful time aboard the Adrienne

We had a wonderful time on the Adrienne. The barge was very nice, the room elegant, cozy, clean and tended constantly by the crew. The food was beyond all expectations, the wine and cheese lists were wonderful, not to mention the fact that every small request was answered immediately (including special request for a special wine or any other drinks), the tours at the wineries and castles were a treat as well as a learning experience, the crew was the most attentive, delightful and warm - just so to make us feel very welcomed at all times...

We loved our time on the Adrienne. The staff was amazing, both friendly and knowledgeable. The tour of Burgundy was busy and informative, but restful. I loved sitting on the foredeck of the Adrienne as we slowly cruised through the French countryside. We saw France in a very different way from any other trip. We were immersed in nature and very small towns. Each day we took a tour perhaps to a chateau or Les Hospices de Beaune. The tours especially of the chateaux were informative and private as we met and talked with the owners, fascinating people. The food on the Adrienne was spectacular with great cheeses and great wines. We enjoyed the trip so much we are thinking of doing another of French Country Waterways cruises in the future.

High expectations; comfortably exceeded

Working with FCW east-coast staff for months prior to the trip we had come to have high overall expectations. Effe and the team was great answering questions and helping us prepare to make the most out of our vacation. Food, wine, and overall service levels - Michelin 3 star restaurant was our first dinner experience on our first full day. As expected, incredible service, lovely and cool ambiance, many courses, and expected level of fussiness. This evening set a high bar for future meals. Subsequent breakfast, lunch and dinner meals benchmarked against the 3 star held up very well. My favorite 3 or 4 meals over the six day trip were all at lunch or dinner on the Adrienne. The common element among these meals were the rich flavors and fresh ingredients for authentic French meals. Excellent and varied wine selections. Excursion planning and execution was absolutely top notch. Our excursion Captain was incredibly engaging, knowledgeable, fun, and interesting.

This trip was outstanding…very high quality staff. The chef was excellent with a wonderful selection of menu choices each day. Wine and cheese choices were numerous and very high quality. One of the best vacation trips we have made, and well worth the price

Our barge tour on the Adrienne couldn’t have been better. The list of superlatives must start with six member crew. It was obvious from the start that their goal was create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly, informative, and helpful at every turn. From boat handling to sumptuous meals, informative at all times, we felt like they became friends. The meals were not only tasteful but were accompanied by well explained wines and delicious cheese. Our barge was tastefully and comfortably furnished. Needless to say we were said to leave the barge and head to Paris!
