We had just the most wonderful trip on the Alaska Route on the Pacific Princess. I have food allergies, and our Head Waiter Mahai was just unbelievable. Every day he would come with the next days menu and tell me what I could have and couldn't have. Even made special items for me. Was just so enjoyable because eating out is not always enjoyable. The whole week was enjoyable with no reactions to any food. My only complaint was I was unable to enjoy a cigerate with my coffee on our balcony. Having said that enjoyed meeting a lot of great people both passengers and staff at the "smoking" place. Loved the smaller ship and loved cruising both ways and no flying. Was a wonderful trip as we Celebrated our 50th Wedding anniversary. Thank You

We really enjoyed this trip to Tahiti. The Princess staff at the airline terminal, on shore, and on the ship were friendly, helpful, and often went above and beyond to make sure that everyting went smoothly. The shore excursions were very well organized, good guides, fun and interesting. We enjoyed all the meals on the ship, but especially Sabitini's. The Steakhouse was nice, but if you are going to upcharge for the dinner, the steak should be better than what you serve in the main dining room. Our mini suite was nice, the room steward always on top of things. We loved both George Cassey, the Irish comedian and Jay Alexander, the Mentalist. The Princess show and dancers were also good. Only one negative comment -- on the last day, many people had flights out at 10 PM or later that night. It was nice that we were able to stay on the boat, but the pool was drained and painted. Many people had planned to lounge by the pool, but without a place to swim, it was too hot on deck.

sorry to report that Pacific Princess fell far short of our expectations. she's still the same as when we were aboard in 2001 when Renaissance owned her as R3. she is seriously tired and shows years of wear and deferred maintenance. and further - we have watched for 20 years as Princess has steadily diminished the amenities provided to guests. it's clearly evident that the focus has shifted to the bottom line to the detriment of guests. I don't think you will find us aboard Princess again in the future. we've seen a lot of the world aboard Princess but no more.

Our first smaller ship cruise (600-700) passengers. Service for the most part was excellent, shows were above average, ship was well maintained but did show some minor signs of wear. All in all a very good experience. Some problems with the weather and the Captain kept all very well informed and guided the ship as much as possible to reduce the impact of the weather.

Small Ship excellence

Pacific Princess has a capacity of about 600 passengers. Most of our 20 cruises have been on large ships. We really enjoyed the small ship experience. We especially enjoyed the ease in getting on and off the ship. The ship is wonderfully decorated. The food and service in the Club Restaurant were excellent. We ate in the Grill Restaurant one night. It is a specialty restaurant. It is well worth the extra $29. Princess cruise arranged our transfers from Rome airport to the Savoy Hotel. A Princess rep met us at the arrival gate as soon as we arrived with a baggage cart in hand. She got us through customs and into a waiting taxi in short order. We stayed at the Savoy hotel. It was very nice and within walking distance to the American Embassy, the Borghese Gallery, the Spanish and Trevi Fountain. It is also near many great Roman restaurants. We took 5 excursions. The tour guides and drivers were great especially in Dubrovnik, Salerno, and to Lake Bled.

Excellent; I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise, and much more so on this size of ship, although I had previously enjoyed a much larger Princess cruise in South America.. Now, I would always opt for this size. Everything on board was handled well;the cabin steward was very accommodating and most considerate.Other staff were superb as well and I would highly recommend any one of them, especially the dining staff, and the young woman in the ship's shop. The photography staff were exceptional, fun to work with and most accommodating to ensure passengers looked their best. THE CULINARY AND SERVING STAFF WERE WONDERFUL! HAD MY SCHEDULE PERMITTED AND HAD THERE BEEN SPACE,I WOULD HAVE OPTED TO STAY FOR A LONGER VOYAGE.

Pacific Princess & Panama Canal

A very pleasant experience...lots of activities, so we were never bored. You can do as much, or as little, as you wanted. Food was great, and the service was efficient. Using the internet was a very challenging experience, but easier as time went on....still pretty expensive to use. Putting luggage out at dinner time of our last night was a bit awkward, perhaps a later 'put out' time would help...we were still wearing outfits for dining, which had to go into the carry on luggage next day. Entertainment was great, and the lectures by Bill, the Panama Canal expert, were excellent. He is one knowledgeable fellow!

We sailed a 10-day cruise to Naples, Sicily, Greek Islands and ports in the Adriatic on Pacific Princess and it was sublime. Lovely stateroom, really helpful steward, nothing too much trouble. The ship was the smallest in the fleet which was just right. Very good food and every possible facility that we could need. Trips ashore were really efficiently managed with ships tenders easily accessed even with handicapped people. Exiting and re-entering the ship was no hassle. Wonderful ship and Itinerary!

Needs some serious maintenance

By: Nebgirl

Reviewed on: 16 Sep 2018

The cruise itself was okay for the most part, however the Pacific Princess needs some serious refurbishment work. The cushions in the lounge are in serious need of replacement. You sink down in more than half the chairs to the point that it is difficult to get out of the chairs. When we returned to our room we found the room extremely cold to the point that turning the thermostat up did nothing to warm the room up. We discovered that the balcony door was partially off its track and the staff had to duct tape the entire door (making the balcony unusable) to keep the cold weather outside. As it was a sea day, they were unable to repair the door until we were in port.

British Isles cruise

Myself, and two nieces went on the 8 day British Isles cruise, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked the smaller ship experience. The ports of call were good, and the excursions offered were excellent. The staff was most accommodating, and embarkation and disembarkation was the best I had experienced. We did have some problems with the maître d' in the dining room, I requested a different table, and was told he would get back to me. I am still waiting. The table we had was I think the worst in the dining room, with all the traffic going by it was hard for the waiter to take our order. But other than that everything else was terrific.

We just returned from a Baltic cruise on the Pacific Princess. Having not been on that ship before, we had some reservations about whether the smaller size would provide sufficient amenities, and are happy to report that the size worked well. Fewer passengers definitely made a quality of life difference on board. It never felt crowded, and there was adequate variety of activities available. The staff was terrific- lots of energy and personality.

My "fave" vessel

By: Zsuzsa

Reviewed on: 24 Aug 2019

The Pacific Princess offers my preferred way of cruising: in a smaller vessel. I don't care for the huge, floating city kind of ship. The smaller, the cozier, the better, in my opinion. I was sad to find out that the small ships are going to be the way of the past pretty soon and that the very big ones will be taking over soon. What a shame!

Small Ship Cruising

By: John

Reviewed on: 19 Sep 2019

This was our first experience with small ship cruising - Pacific Princess accommodates approximately 640 passengers. Embarkation and disembarkation was seamless and quick. In fact one of the pleasant surprises of this cruise was “no lineups”, for anything. Ship staff were friendly and very service oriented. Production shows were professionally presented - obviously well rehearsed. The ships amenities were a little more modest, with fewer choices, compared with larger ships but offset by the friendly, intimate atmosphere.
