I HIGHLY recommend the Explorer, the Cloud, the Wind, the Shadow and the Whisper. I will have sailed over 350 days by the end of my next cruise on the Wind from Rome to South Africa (beginning Nov. 19).

Outstanding service. We had a crew of 110 for 125 guests.  Food excellent. Hard to believe we were in Antarctica. Our room was comfortable and commodious.Implementation of daily trips in zodiacs and back lectures and daily briefings enjoyable  The experience was ten stars out of ten.

the trip was perfect from the initial planning stages through the return home. Everything was arranged and executed with perfection. Sandy made a complicated adventure a wonderful experience. We can't wait to do it again. The cruise was perfect except for the disappointment about not getting in to the distillery in Toberary that was preplanned and expected. The merrion hotel was beautiful, comfortable and luxurious , however we could not get into high tea any of the days we w were there because none told us at the desk, at check in, that it had to be booked in advanced. that was disappointing

Superb ship and expedition team

With so many companies jumping into the "expedition" business, we cruise with this company and this ship[ because of the incredible expedition team, operating from this safe, ice hardened, ship. Silversea has outstanding leadership and crews. We think we get our moneys worth and will be returning for a third Silver Explorer cruise this year.

While well appointed, this is an old shhip ready to go to exploration next year. We had little or no air conditioning for the first 7 days of the cruise. Their lecture and entertainment programing were excellent. The free shore excursions were minimal.

Enjoyed the ship, which I've sailed on quite a few times. However, the company is constantly making changes, eliminating things to which I've become accustomed, with no notification, and this takes away from the pleasure of the voyage. A case in point: there always were, in all of Silversea ships, binoculars. So I didn't take mine with me, expecting to find a pair in my suite. They've been eliminated, so I either had to borrow a pair for a few moments to view wildlife or miss seeing it altogether. Also, all ships used have libraries that included works of fiction. On this voyage, all fiction had been removed. I'd like to know about these changes beforehand, so I can be prepared. Other than that, and being unable to regulate temperatures in the suites, I found the ship very pleasant.

Great Trip to Antarctica!

The Silver Explore is an older ship that has been recently refurbished. We had a nice suite on deck 7, which was convenient to the Explorer Lounge, where talks and daily recaps were held. The food was very good at dinner and breakfast -- a little less so at lunch. The service in the restaurant and in the cabin was outstanding. Our butler and cabin steward were excellent. The itinerary was perfect for us, covering visits to the Falklands, South Georgia, Elephant Island, the Antarctic Peninsula and Deception Island. The naturalists and guides were very good and approachable throughout the journey. We would recommend Silver Sea for this itinerary.

Having never sailed on Silverseas, didn’t know quite what to expect. They exceeded my expectations. We traveled to Antarctica on an Expedition ship. From the Captain who was always put our concerns first to the well everyone . Superb! We had the most educated and experienced expedition/guides I think around anywhere. They made the cruise Magical

The Silver Explorer is an excellent expedition ship, with a superb staff. Our only complaint was that the island stops and excursions were all scheduled early in the morning when it was invariably cold, foggy, and/or raining. It would have been a far better trip if the stops had been scheduled for later in the day when the weather often improved substantially. We went on both the pre-cruise land excursion to Winterlake Lodge, AK, and the post-cruise land excursion in Hokkaido, Japan. Both were excellent!

The Explorer holds less than 200 passengers, and I like that. But it’s an older ship that could use some upgrades. The staff are amazing in all departments. I’d travel with them again based on destination.
