The expedition was the largest boat allowed in the Gallopogas. There was almost a 1:1ratio of staff to guests. They made us feel like royalty. We did not have to think of a thing. Everything was taken care of.

From the moment I stepped onto the ship until I came back to shore Celebrity Cruises provided an awesome experience! They exceeded expectations on food served, cabin size and cleanliness, overall experience was a 10 out of 10. Will definitely be looking at future Celebrity cruises!

This was certaintly as adventure of a lifetime. The Crew and naturalists made this trip educational as well as enjoyable. The crew was pleasant and caring and the naturalists were very knowledgable. The trip to Machu Picchu was equally as wonderful. Our guide, richard Perez was outstanding. He was knowledgable and caring and we loved having him with us

Our trip to the Galapagos was incredible.  I cannot compliment Celebrity enough for this trip.  It ran smoothly from the time we landed in Quito until we were dropped at the airport for our return home.  Every aspect of the trip was handled with efficiency and great organization.  Thank you Celebrity.  We will return in August for cruise to the British Isles on the Infinity.

This was an excellent trip and the staff at Cruises Etc Travel helped us at every step in the planning process. As it was not a typical Celebrity cruise, we relied on the knowledge of that staff to answer our many questions and the trip went smoothly.

Perfect ship for this itinerary!

By: Don S.

Reviewed on: 30 Dec 2015

Celebrity has the perfect ship for the Galapagos itinerary. While small compared to all other ships in the Celebrity fleet, it is the perfect size for the less than 100 passengers it carries. The staterooms are adequate and the dining room is very nice, with food was as superb as any other larger vessel. The decks are perfect for putting on life jackets in anticipation of boarding the 14-person Zodiacs and for removal and rinsing of wet suits after snorkeling. This is Celebrity's 11th year in the Galapagos and they have the daily routine down to an art.

Abandoned in Quito

My husband and I were excited about finally getting to go to the Galapagos with Celebrity. The day before the cruise we were on a Celebrity sponsored day long tour of Quito complete with local guides(wonderful) and a lunch at the Sucre's Theatrum and dinner at La Gloria Restaurant. We retired that night eagerly anticipating our cruise the next day. We were awakened at 3:00AM that morning by symptoms of food poisoning(nausea, vomiting, diarrhea etc). I called the front desk at the JW Marriott and a doctor arrived promptly to our hotel room. She prescribed several prescriptions and told us we were too sick to take the cruise. I finally reached the Celebrity desk at 7:50AM. I told them what had happened and asked for my luggage to be brought to my room. I heard nothing more from Celebrity until that night when someone called our room and then once again. Celebrity was absolutely no help to us at all. Marriott, our travel agent and travel insurance were there for us!

Spent a week on the celebrity expedition. The ship is slightly dated but that’s not what you go for. It’s the nature and daily adventure. So glad I used celebrity.

Outer loop 7 Day Cruise

Loved the cruise. Although the boat is in need of a remodel (and it has been announced it is getting one) that didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time. The boat had about 87 passengers and it was just the right amount so that you can have a great time meeting most of the other travelers. I wasn’t going with any thoughts of that happening, it just did and lots of people commented on how nice that aspect of the trip was. Now I don’t have any desire to cruise on a boat with thousands of people. As far as the outings and animals go....wow!!! Great hikes, amazing wildlife unlike anything you’ll ever see. BTW-Don’t pass up the deep sea snorkeling, you can always get in the boat if you are uncomfortable. I’m not an experienced snorkeler but that was the part of the trip that stands out in my mind as the most spectacular.

Celebrity does an amazing job of taking care of their guests. Guides were very good. The only complaint we would have was the food was just average. Maybe because of accessibility. Service was exceptional, though. All issues were dealt with with professionalism. Carlos at the Marriott was indeed exceptional.

There was much to do during the day and every day. With 96 passengers, the moves us along quickly and easily. Celebrity was with us every step of the way from when we arrived in Quito until our last day home. The had reps at the hotel at 3AM to take us to the airport for our final trip home. The only semi-disappointment was the food was not up to Celebrity high standards.

Galapagos 2022

The Xpedition is the perfect sized boat - not too small and not too large. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Celebrity did an amazing job of ensuring that the staff and guests were covid-free. The boat is a little tired and could def use a refresh, but the benefits of the size and the celebrity regulations (during covid) outweighed this.

We originally booked our Galapagos cruise in 2019 for March 2020. We were able to finally go March 2022. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this trip. We did not go to Quito with the group - we met the fellow passengers at the airport in Baltra. We flew to Guayaquil on the coast of Ecuador for several days before the cruise. We had to board Zodiac boats to get to the cruise ship anchored in the bay, super fun way to start the cruise :) Our cabin was small but well designed. The food was delicious - every single meal 3 times a day - yummy cocktails every evening on the back deck - Blue Footed Booby was my favorite one. The staff was friendly and professional - all of the crew were from Ecuador or South America - the captain was a woman - super awesome ! The Naturalists were terrific - so knowledgeable of their National Park and proud to share it with us. This was a Bucket List trip and worth every dollar - go !
