Silver Cloud Expedition
Silver Cloud is the most spacious and comfortable ice class vessel in expedition cruising. Watching a breaching whale or a few cavorting penguins has never been so personal. Broad sweeping decks with multiple open spaces and a swimming pool complete what is surely the most distinctive expedition ship sailing today.

First time on an Expedition cruise, and was not fully aware of what to expect. Ship had plenty of room, good food and excellent staff and guides. Excursion trips were informative and varied. Many interesting site and lots of wildlife. Very enjoyable voyage.

Fantastic ship, crew, and expedition team

This was my 3rd cruise on Expedition and as fantastic as ever. I really like the small size, with no loss of Silverseas' wonderful service and facilities. The crew remembers me, having sailed together with many in the past. Same with the expedition team, headed by Louis. I am slightly disabled (walk with a cane, problems with balance and stamina) but he and the team went out of their way to insure I was able to participate in as many events as possible. That's why I return to Expedition -- next time in April 2019.
Antarctica Expedition on the "Silver Cloud": Trip of a Lifetime
Reviewed on: 09 Feb 2019
If you have had a burning desire to explore the farthest most remote & pristine polar region of the earth in unabashed luxury, then this trip is for you! There is no place on the planet like Antarctica. Silver Cloud is truly an expedition ship. That means that passengers have the opportunity & expectation that they will participate in the landings when feasible by safely boarding the zodiac rafts directly off the ship for both wet & dry landings. This was a true adventure and you need to be fluid and flexible in the moment as the weather is totally unpredictable. The Silver Cloud was the ultimate cruise vessel possible for this type of trip. The service was superb on every level, the food was excellent, & the expedition experience was the best bar none. This was highly educational with informative engaging lectures during "down" time, which there was little of. Antarctica is NOT the same as Alaska or the NW Passage in the North polar regions. Ultimate trip of a lifetime!

The Silver Cloud to Antartica

WOW! What a trip! The Silversea's Silver Cloud was a dream ship. What a way to go to the big adventure of Antartica. Everyone on the ship was fantastic - the entire staff, the waiters, the cabin attendants, the expedition team. The food was excellent. Everyone and everything was well-organized. Our wish was their command. I can't say enough great things about this ship. If you are going to Antarctica this is the luxurious way to do it.

Antarctica - Experience of a Lifetime

Silver Cloud Expedition did a terrific job. The ship was immaculate, the crew was professional and attentive; and the Expedition Team outstanding in terms of enthusiasm, knowledge and helpfulness. The only negative was that the food was uneven. Most meals were excellent (La Dame was one of the best meals I've had) but the Italian restaurant was weak (lukewarm food) one time; very good the next. Room service meals were very good. But you don't sail on an expedition ship for the food; you sail to see remote places and learn about them. In this area, Silver Cloud Expedition was superb. They kept us informed about the trip, executed some difficult landings extremely well and truly showed us what an amazing place Antarctica is.

We very much enjoyed it. It was our most expensive trip ever for retired teachers (spouse) and retired government employee (me) but worth it. We enjoyed not being nickeled and dime to death although laundry service was expensive and it was difficult to get a machine to do the self laundry. The captain and expedition leader did a vey good job getting us where we could land under difficult weather conditions. It of course is the south polar seas and we expected it. The other staff (cabin, dining rooms, wine stewards also did a good job). We also very much enjoyed the entertainment in the Dolce Vita Lounge of Darlene and Lawrence. Very talented and nice people.

New to expedition cruising

This was our first expedition cruise but it will definitely not be our last. In fact, we booked our next while on board. The expedition staff were knowledgeable and friendly and the excursions were fabulous. There was a very good mix of physical vs. cultural tours and also very clear physical capability expectations for different things.
