Couldn't have been nicer

The ship was lovely and the crew couldn't have been better. I have never experienced as lovely a beach day as they gave us. They worked very hard to give us a lovely time. I can't imagine how difficult it was for the crew to carry on after hearing of the attacks on Pariss but, after a moment of silence, they went right back to wor.k. They are to be commended for their hard work and bravery.

We were very happy with all aspects of the cruise - our accommodation, the food and service. The room staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. We felt happily spoiled.

Cruiseline Not worth it

By: AlanR

Reviewed on: 22 Nov 2015

We have taken about 50 cruises over the last 30 years and many on upscale, smaller vessels. I can't think of any who considers themselves a luxury line offering less than this one. The food was mediocre, at best with only a couple of what I would consider acceptable meals. The extra charges for what they consider "upscale" alcohol that most would consider basic was ridiculous. Service in the dining room and breakfast area were very poor. I can only commend the cabin steward for his affable and efficient service.

Judy. . . The trip was fantastic. The cities, ports and experience was well beyond my expectations. The entire package was handled in a most professional manner. There was nothing lacking. We can't wait for Italy. Thank you for letting us be part of the experience. Ronnie

Very nice small cruise ship with great, professional service

My wife and I went on a theme cruise to SE Asia. The crew and officers were attentive and sensitive to our needs. This cruise occurred at the time of the terrorist attack in Paris. Even though many of the crew and officers had friends and relatives in Paris and did not know the fate of their loved ones, they carried on without missing a beat. Their professionalism in the time of extreme uncertainty was exemplary.

Fantastic Ponant - Le Soleal

By: Global Traveler

Reviewed on: 09 Apr 2019

Ponant is one of the nicest companies we have cruised with, and we've sailed with many different lines and on different size ships. The ship is lovely, and our voyage had only 215 passengers -- perfect for the type of excursions we did on Easter Island and French Polynesia. It is a French company, and there was a very nice mix of nationalities on board, with the majority of passengers being French. Even if you don't speak French, all the announcements and programs were in French and English -- and on the excursions we were grouped with passengers who spoke the same language. They also had Spanish guides on the Easter Island shore excursions for the Spanish-speaking passengers. The Captain and crew were extremely welcoming and visible -- chatting with passengers and wanting to ensure we had a great time. All the onboard staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, and the food was excellent. It was our first experience with Ponant, and we will definitely be return customers.

Papeete to Honolulu to Maizuru, Japan

This is the second time we have been aboard Le Soleal. I was temporarily disabled, having broken my kneecap, and was in a wheelchair. The staff could not have been more helpful. I was unable to get off the ship at any port until we arrived in Hawaii, as the only option was zodiacs, which I could not use. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, a we do all Ponant cruises. We met lots of great people from many countries, which is one of the main reasons we choose Ponant. The second half of the trip was an ocean cruise with minimal offerings, as advertised. We felt the cruise director was disengaged and could have provided additional events similar to those we have had on previous ocean cruises.

Excellent ship. Crew were very helpful and customer service outstanding. Food excellent throughout. A highlight was the entertainment, best I have experienced on a cruise, with an amazing dance team.
