The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is made up of original art deco carriages, restored to their 1920 and 30’s grandeur. It is a legendary train that criss crosses Europe and is as relevant today as it was when it was built as it creates new legends, stories and memories. This train has been restored to its original condition, and over the last few years we have added Suite and Grand Suite cabin categories with private en suite baths and showers. Historic Cabins do not have private restrooms nor showers, shared facilities with a toilet & sink are located at the ends of each carriage. This is why each journey is always just one night, but we can assist with hotel accommodations before and after the train journey to create a longer experience.Multi-night journeys (ex: Paris-Prague-Paris) still have one night on the train per leg. Stopover city stays do not include hotel accommodations, but can be added to the booking. Hotel rates are not included in the train fare.A typical itinerary:Day 1:Your journey begins as you meet the gleaming Wagon-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express at the station.Settle into your inviting private cabin as the train journeys through the evocative countryside before heading to the restaurant cars for lunch. While away the afternoon in your cabin and enjoy tea with French gouter served by your steward. As the day winds down, dress for dinner and head to one of the beautiful restaurant cars for a sophisticated four-course dinner. After, trade stories with fellow travellers in the Bar Car 3476 as the resident pianist sets the scene.Retire to your cabin, now converted into a cosy bedroom.Day 2:The next morning a French breakfast is served in your cabin, as you soak up the ever-changing views. All too soon, the train arrives at your destination.

About Us

About Us

Belmond’s trains invite guests to discover a new pace of travel as they take time, engage with local culture, and connect with nature and people through incomparable experiences. Belmond's portfolio now spans seven luxury trains across three continents. This journey began in 1982 with the inaugural departure of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the original legend of the rails, which continues to criss-cross continental Europe’s most fabled cities in beautifully restored 1920s and 1930s carriages. That same year saw the launch of the British Pullman, offering decadent day excursions and immersive journeys departing from London. The collection expanded further in the United Kingdom with the Royal Scotsman, introduced to the Highlands in 1985, journeying through Scotland with Edwardian elegance and today home to Europe’s only Dior Spa on rails. The Britannic Explorer, debuted in 2025 as England and Wales’ first luxury sleeper train, featuring contemporary British gastronomy by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan. In Southeast Asia, Belmond brought its legendary art of travel to the region with the launch of the Eastern & Oriental Express in 1993, inviting guests to uncover the vibrant landscapes and ancient wonders of Malaysia on elegant journeys departing from Singapore. In Peru, Belmond operates two remarkable South American rail experiences: the Hiram Bingham, launched in 2003, an elegant, 1920s-style day train celebrating the thrill of exploration en route to Machu Picchu, and the Andean Explorer, introduced in 2017 as South America’s first luxury sleeper train, traversing the spectacular plains between Cusco and Arequipa. Across the entire fleet, Belmond blends timeless heritage, world-class gastronomy, and immersive cultural discovery to create unforgettable journeys and continue its legacy as a custodian of the legendary art of travel.
