Whether traveling as a couple, with friends, or hosting a multi-generational trip, these do’s and don’ts of cruising may just guarantee smooth sailings for you - and the other passengers.

Dress Code

Do:  Review your daily program for the ship’s dress code. Most luxury cruise lines still have a standard for dinner attire, at least on certain nights.

Don’t:  Make the faux-pas of under-dressing for formal nights or upscale restaurants. You may run the risk of being turned away.

Tipping

Do:  Check with your travel advisor in advance to find out if tips are included in the overal cost of your cruise. Some cruise lines factor in tips with your ticket, and others do not.

Don’t:  Forget to personally thank the crew members you feel provided exceptional service.

Sharing is Caring

Do:  Share the space in public areas.

Don’t:  Save seats at shows or lounge chairs for your large group on deck.

While in-Port

Do:  Return from land excursions on time, every time. A little early is nice, too.

Don’t:  Linger in port. Cruise lines adhere to stringent schedules.

And, Don’t Forget:

Remember to pack an overnight bag on your last evening, as you’ll need to leave your luggage outside the cabin the night before you disembark.
