About Us

A 14th Century gem of Venetian Gothic architecture, Hotel Danieli is the flagship of Venetian hospitality and glamorous salon for the sophisticated elite since 1822. Curator of exceptional culinary journeys and indigenous experiences, the Danieli is a crossroads of restored and antique elegance, and a magical story teller of the city’s historic grandeur.

From its imposing heritage setting on Riva degli Schiavoni, Hotel Danieli dominates the lagoon, placing visitors in front of mesmerizing views and just steps from a treasure trove of monuments and attractions.

The palatial atmosphere of the hotel’s 204 suites and guestrooms are home to a rich collection of precious art and antiques that play witness to the city’s history, blending triumphantly with contemporary comforts to indulge the wishes of the sophisticated and cultured global traveller.

Meticulously restored, the Dandolo Palace Signature Suite Collection is an ensemble of four unique experiences to collect: from the legendary Doge Dandolo Royal Suite, with majestic 180° views of the Venice lagoon, antique furnishings, original frescoes, priceless fabrics and lustrous chandeliers from Murano, to the three extraordinary Signature Suites, inspired after glamorous female celebrities of Cinema, Opera and Fashion, who chose the Hotel Danieli to celebrate important milestones in their lifetimes.

Whether savouring a romantic dinner at the rooftop Restaurant Terrazza Danieli, an al fresco drink at the Bar Terrazza Danieli, a leisurely afternoon tea amidst the Gothic splendour of the Bar Dandolo, or an informal late supper at the Danieli Bistro, the dining options at Hotel Danieli are as unique as the city surrounding them.

RESTAURANT TERRAZZA DANIELI

Perched on the hotel’s roof top, the Restaurant Terrazza Danieli is a magical location from which to start and end the day. The menu celebrates the seasons and the city’s historic role as a crossroads between East and West, with locally-sourced ingredients complemented by a fine selection of wines from the territory and the finest champagne. Large windows and a panoramic terrace offer diners an enviable view of the Serenissima.

BAR TERRAZZA DANIELI

With its unparalleled panoramas of Venice, Bar Terrazza Danieli is a glorious setting for enjoying a Bellini cocktail, a light snack, or a gelato from May until September.

BAR DANDOLO

Located in the majestic lobby of the 14th Century, Bar Dandolo is Venice’s most sophisticated spot for whiling away the day. Whether stopping by for a morning espresso, a pre-dinner aperitif or a nightcap before retiring, Bar Dandolo’s alluring atmosphere charms locals and visitors alike.

DANIELI BISTRO

A convivial bistro facing on to the Venetian lagoon, the Danieli Bistro is an informal gathering place that balances Italian tradition and international influences, fine Mediterranean and innovative ingredients.

Best of the Best

You’ll feel like a noble at the legendary Hotel Danieli. Ideally located along Riva degli Schiavoni, just steps from St. Mark’s Square, the hotel comprises three historical palazzos, including the 14th-century Palazzo Dandolo. Museum-quality antiques, Murano glass, Oriental rugs and fine tapestries adorn the opulently furnished guestrooms. Amenities are generous; guests of the Deluxe Lagoon View Rooms and Suites can even arrange in-room massages. At its intimate Restaurant Terrazza Danieli, the international menu is as inspired as the rooftop setting that dominates the lagoon.

Hotel Tip

Discover the new bistro concept by chef Dario Parascandolo, featuring the finest Venetian cicchetti paired with selected high-quality wines or local beer. It’s an informal gathering place with panoramic views.

The dramatic sweep of high ceilings and tall windows is grounded by the comforts of our signature Luxury Collection king or twin size beds, dressed in crisp cotton and topped with down duvets and pillows. Each room’s adjoining marble-clad bathroom features a convenient shower and bath combination, up to two vanities, and thoughtful comforts such as bathrobes and slippers, a hair dryer, a make-up mirror, abundant toiletries, and a telephone.

Palazzo Dandolo

Housed in the hotel’s 14th century palace, these Premium Deluxe Doubles enjoy quintessential neighborhood views of the Calle de le Rasse and the Rio del Vin. In homage to Venice’s glorious Empire period, characteristic shades of soft blue and grey, offset by vivid yellow and vibrant red, inform the colour choices for the walls, upholstery, and floor-to-ceiling drapes. A magnificent wardrobe commands one wall, while a generous desk and beautifully restored armchair create an intimate reading and work area. Glints of Murano glass accent the wall sconces and bedside lamps, while a spectacular chandelier hangs from the centre of the ceiling. Gleaming parquet or wool carpeting flow throughout.

Upon request, these rooms may be connected to a Superior Single, another Premium Deluxe Double, or a Historical Suite.

Palazzo Casa Nuova

Located in the 19th century Baroque palace Casa Nuova, these Premium Deluxe Doubles embody the romance of the Venetian Baroque Era. Tapestries of blue and pink blossoms cover the armchair and headboard, as well as the window drapes. Thick carpeting graces the entire layout. The lacquered furnishings—including an elegant writing table and wardrobe—are bordered in pastels that echo the rich fabrics. The bathroom continues the theme with soft shades of marble and embroidered linens. Murano glass adds fairytale charm, as found on the wall sconces, chandelier, and reading lamps. Charming views of the Calle de le Rasse, Rio del Vin, and Calle del Vin capture daily vignettes of Venetian life surrounding the palazzo.

Luxury Double

The entirely non-smoking 20 to 25 square metre Luxury Double rooms in the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior enjoy a brilliantly edited design motif—distinct Gothic and Venetian elements create a setting that is both serene and undeniably theatrical. Starting with that unmistakable shade of Doge red in the drapes, the room finds a soothing counterpoint in the artichoke and forest green damask headboard behind the signature Luxury Collection king-size bed. Crisp white cotton linens dress the down duvet and pillows. Etched mirrors frame either side of the bed, their delicate scrollwork and pattern of flowers lending a lightness to the room. Murano glass bedside lamps cast a rosy glow through red lampshades, while sleek adjustable reading lights are attached to either side of the headboard.

The high ceilings are framed by elaborately gilded molding, adding a regal touch to the inviting living area. The armchair—upholstered in the same deep red seen throughout—and the spacious writing table afford space to work and relax. Elongated windows allow natural light to stream over the parquet or carpeted flooring, while offering a view of the neighboring Calle dei Albanesi and Calle de le Rasse.

Integrating a host of modernities, each room features a 32-inch flat screen LCD television with multiple satellite channels and an extensive pay-per-movie menu, High Speed Internet Access (fee), and direct dial telephones. The refreshment centre holds an assortment of sweet and savoury snacks as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The generous bathroom combines a bath and shower into one, while up to two marble clad vanities recall the opulence of the bedroom. Plush bathrobes and slippers await, Laura Tonatto toiletries are replenished daily and additional conveniences such as a hairdryer, make-up mirror, and telephone underscore a sophisticated level of comfort.

Deluxe Lagoon View Double

Languish by the window of one of our 20 to 25 square metre Lagoon View Doubles, and soak in one of Europe's most bewitching views—the sparkling Venetian lagoon and its many islands surrounded by a flotilla of boats, gondolas, and vaporettos.

Located on the first through fourth floors of the Palazzo Dandolo and the Palazzo Casa Nuova, each room issues an elegant welcome with its historic details and state-of-the-art modernities. A 32-inch flat screen LCD television stands amidst classic antiques. High Speed Internet Access (fee) and multiple satellite channels offer guests entertainment options. The light that drifts in through the windows, is augmented by hand blown Murano glass lamps, wall sconces, and chandeliers.

Each room enjoys the comforts of our signature Luxury Collection twin beds, dressed in pure cotton and topped with down duvets and pillows. The adjoining bathrooms cater to every whim, with sleek shower and bath combinations, up to two vanities, plentiful toiletries, thick bathrobes and slippers, make-up mirrors, hairdryers, and direct dial telephones. The marble tiling is a lovely extension of each room’s décor. Some Lagoon View Doubles enjoy a separate dressing room and separate glass-enclosed shower stall.

Palazzo Dandolo

Among the Lagoon View Doubles housed in this magnificent 14th century palazzo, Room #10 has a particularly auspicious history. Here the renowned love affair between George Sand and Alfred De Musset unfolded. Today, the rooms hearken back to that romantic Empire period with its subtle décor of watery blues, soft greys, light yellows, and passionate reds. An impressive writing desk still inspires, while an armchair stands in direct view of the water. Gleaming parquet floors echo back the soft seductive light.

These rooms may connect with a second Lagoon View Double, a Historical Suite, or a Royal Suite.

Palazzo Casa Nuova

Recalling the delicate Venetian Baroque era, these Lagoon View Double rooms are appointed with cream tapestries embroidered in a pink and blue floral pattern, and pastel lacquered furnishings to match. Soft carpeting flows throughout, complementing the decidedly feminine aesthetic.

These rooms may be connected to other Lagoon View Doubles, a Lagoon View Junior Suite, or a regular Suite.

Luxury Lagoon View Double

As envisioned by design impresario Jacques Garcia, each newly restyled 20 to 25-square-metre Luxury Lagoon View Double room captures the essence of a Gothic aesthetic, blended with a contemporary sensibility. Gorgeous deep red draperies frame the long picture windows—creating a dramatic counterpoint to the watery still life of the lagoon seen beyond. Some rooms on the upper floors enjoy private wrought-iron balconies and terraces—accessible via wood-trimmed French doors. Armchairs in deep red upholstery stand at a perfect angle to the mesmerizing views.

The rooms’ soaring ceilings are made even more impressive with a trim of wide gilt molding, while the floors are covered in rich parquet or thick carpeting. Floor-to-ceiling curved wardrobe doors are covered in pale artichoke and forest green damask, shimmering softly in the blush of the Murano glass side lamps and chandelier. The same damask graces the arched headboard—complete with sleek adjustable reading lights—that sits behind the signature Luxury Collection twin beds. Dressed in crisp white cotton, duvet and down pillows, the beds create a calming oasis amidst the bold décor.

A 32-inch flat screen LCD television with satellite channels and pay-per-movie menu introduces a modern note, alongside High Speed Internet Access (fee) and direct-dial telephones. A refreshment centre, tucked inside the wardrobe, tempts with assorted treats and beverages.

Executive Suite

Recently renovated to Gothic splendour, the non-smoking 35 to 40-square-metre Executive Suites take their inspiration from the strong lines and colours of Palazzo Dandolo’s historical hall. In 2008, French interior designer Jacques Garcia evoked the same opulence on a more intimate scale in these superb one-bedroom accommodations. Separated by a wood-trimmed archway from the bedroom, the sitting area features deeply upholstered armchairs and settees in a classic shade of Doge red. Swagged crimson drapes frame views of one of Venice’s most recognizable historic sites—the Palazzo Ducale, or Doge’s Palace. A 42-inch flat screen LCD television with satellite channels and pay-per-movie menu offer modern entertainment options. High Speed Internet Access (fee) is also available in both rooms.

Exquisite glass lamps, crafted locally on the lagoon island of Murano, cast their glow from the bedside tables, side tables, and an extravagant multi-armed chandelier overhead. The lofty ceilings are framed by heavy gilt moulding, while the parquet floors showcase exquisite oriental carpets. The curved wardrobe doors in the bedroom have been covered in the palest shades of artichoke and forest green damask. The same precious fabric covers the headboard that dominates our signature Luxury Collection king bed. Sleek adjustable reading lights have been attached on either side. A feather weight duvet and down pillows are dressed in crisp white cotton. Beautifully hand etched mirrors hang to either side of the bed, reflecting the choice materials all around.

The bathroom continues the opulence with marble tiling, a sleek bath and shower combination, customised lotions, shampoos and conditioners by Laura Tonatto, plush bathrobes and slippers, a salon-style hairdryer and a make-up mirror.

Guests may enjoy an indulgent selection of spa treatments in the privacy of these lovely rooms.

It is a lovely hotel with an attentive staff in an easy location especially if you are traveling with an older adult who has issues with walking. The three bridges in front of the hotel have ramps in addition to stairs for easy access. The hotel also made some great recommendations for night time meals in easy walking distance.

It was awesome. Very expensive, but one of the most beautiful hotels, and one of the most beautiful suites, we've ever stayed in. Would go back.

The Danieli

The Danieli was wonderful, the high points were the elegance and location. Also the concierges are great especially Heittiore, a vast fund of knowledge. As in all Italian hotels, the rooms are smaller, but comfortable and elegant. The only disappointment was the restaurant. Great Breakfasts with an unparalleled view, but do dinner elsewhere. Apparently it is an open secret among restaurateurs in venice that the food at the Danieli is terrible, but there are so many alternatives, a lesson learned.

Iconic

The hotel is simply iconic. Arriving via water taxi to their little door on the side canal just off of the grand Canal is magical. The hotel itself is beautiful, so old world Venice. That alone might possibly make it worth the very expensive price that we paid for night in their off-season. It is a lovely touch having the front desk agent show is tomorrow room, and looking out that window onto the grand Canal is stunning. Having a drink in their bar was wonderful. Breakfast on the rooftop with it’s amazing views was dreamy. The staff were all lovely, with the exception of one or two concierges. They need to do a better job there, for sure. We were sent to a terrible restaurant on our first night, which should never be on their list. They are not super interested in helping hotel gas it appears, a tip helped with one concierge, but the attitude is not friendly. However we did not let that Mauer our stay at the beautiful hotel.

Cool hotel. Lobby off the charts with the whole byzantine arches, the Venitian Glass chandlliers, etc. Great drop off and pick up point in the little canal right off St. marks sq. terrific location if you want to be very near the square, doges palace etc. Rooms were good - not great. not as spacious as advertised. hotel seemed expensive relative to the rooms we got but hard to compare...don't know what other hotels cost. Italy is expensive anyway. Don't go unless you are prepared to spend a lot of $.
