About Us

Dromoland Castle is one of Ireland's finest castle hotels. It is one of the few castle hotels that can trace its ownership back through history to Gaelic Irish families of royal heritage. The Castle offers its guest's deluxe accommodations and the experience of living like landed gentry, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, absolute luxury and exceptional service. The castle is just 8 miles from Shannon Airport, making it an ideal base from which to explore the exceptional beauty of the Shannon region. The castle is also close to the rugged magnificence of the Burren and the vibrant cities of Limerick and Galway.
Through your bedroom window, the grounds of the Estate are spread magnificently before your eyes. Each guest room enjoys its own individual personality, blending period decoration with today's modern amenities.Dromoland bedrooms give an uncommon degree of comfort to guests, it is refreshing to relax and reflect on the enjoyments of the day in the comfort of your room and perhaps call Room Service to deliver canapés and champagne before dinner.
Dining at Dromoland is always an occasion. It is also a culinary delight; the quality of the food and service is renowned the world over. There is something special for all tastes, a six-course dinner celebration, an afternoon tea in the Drawing Room or a light snack in the Country Club, all can be enjoyed in wonderfully grand but relaxed settings. The Earl of Thomond Restaurant offers a relaxed but elegant dining experience. The Fig Tree Restaurant offers a wonderful variety of dining, from 12 noon to 10pm. The menu and presentation have been created for more informal dining, in contrast to the award-winning Earl of Thomond Restaurant.
In accordance with our reputation for fine cuisine, Dromoland's wine list has been meticulously selected to uphold this standard of excellence.Formerly the Castle library, the Cocktail Bar at the top of the main Gallery now provides the cosy setting for pleasures of a less literary nature.Candlelit by evening, Irish ballads provide the background for after-dinner drinks to complete your evening.
Dromoland offers guests a wide range of leisure pursuits, most of which can be organised in advance right here at the hotel. On the estate, guests can enjoy superb golf, tennis, fishing, shooting and boating while our beautiful gardens and secluded woodlands offer any number of opportunities for jogging, cycling or for a leisurely stroll.Should your tastes extend to more adventurous pastimes like horse riding or deep-sea fishing, we'll be happy to advise and organise on your behalf. For those in search of more luxurious pastimes, our health and beauty clinic includes a hair salon and a comprehensive range of rejuvenating body and facial treatments including massage, aromatherapy and reflexology.
Dromoland Golf & Country Club has undergone a transformation over the past two years, thanks to an investment of €5 million by our owners. The project, undertaken by the late world renowned J.B. Carr, & one of golf's great course architects, Ron Kirby, has produced dramatic results. Dromoland is one of Europe's finest estates and now has a golf course to equal the splendour of the setting. Visitors to the course have described it eloquently as "the Augusta of Ireland".

Best of the Best

Given its world-class golf, splendid spa, gourmet dining and magical storybook setting next to a glistening lake, there's not much Dromoland Castle doesn't have. It's little wonder this is considered one of Europe's most desirable destinations. Travelers enjoy thoroughly indulgent comforts, from handmade chocolates and champagne upon request to freshly prepared picnic baskets to unpack anywhere on the 450-acre estate. At the lush spa, enjoy a treatment in the outdoor hydro spa covered by a romantic gazebo, or head to the 18-hole golf course designed by Irish golf legend J.B. Carr and renowned architect Ron Kirby.

Hotel Tip

Before dinner make sure to visit The Cocktail Bar (previously the library) and sample the Dromoland Castle signature cocktails.

Outstanding in every way!

Every aspect of our stay was outstanding: the estate grounds, the castle hotel facilities and activities offered, our room, cleanliness, friendliness of all the staff and, most importantly, the service. The dining room is beautiful and the service (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner) exceeded our already high expectations! Not only did the genuinely friendly servers seat us promptly, they responded to our every need immediately, in an unhurried, friendly, yet efficient manner and when asked if we would like another pot of coffee or tea, they also brought us fresh cups and silverware--every time. We also appreciated the availability of coffee and tea readily available for take away in the mornings. This service was a delightful surprise and we took advantage of it each morning on our way out to site see. We have never before experienced this extent of service and amenities in any 5 star accommodation. Bravo!

Beautiful hotel in a tucked away castle near Shannon. The grounds are sprawling, and there is no shortage of things to do. Best part: the shower was amazing!

Several of the drivers we had while in Ireland referred to Dromoland Castle as being very highly regarded, and they were right. We had a lovely stay in very comfortable accommodations and impeccable service. I would return to stay here anytime!
