About Us

In the 1950's, Il Borro passed to Duke Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta, and in 1993 the Duke sold the entire property to Ferruccio Ferragamo. “An enduring act of faith”, as Ferruccio Ferragamo, who fell madly in love with the Il Borro estate in 1985, likes to say. As soon as he had purchased the property, Ferruccio Ferragamo, aided by his son Salvatore (presently CEO of Il Borro) began extensive restoration and refurbishment of this ancient place, which still bore the scars of the Second World War. At the heart of the entire restoration project was a desire to bring the estate back to life, preserving its traditions and history while at the same time making those improvements that make this place a perfect continuum between past, present and future.

Enjoy luxury accommodations in Tuscany with the benefits of a hotel. Il Borro estate has luxury suites, country farmhouses and private Villas ready for our guests to experience an unforgettable holiday.

The family has restored, rather than modernized, the Medieval buildings, in order to offer luxury accommodations to the most discerning travelers: countryside farmhouses and village buildings, cobblestone streets, artisan shops and a church, all with wooden floors, earthen stone walls and terracotta roofs.

Villa Il Borro is located in the heart of the estate, its elegant pink facade offers panoramic views of the entire medieval village.

Today the Villa is an exclusive location for VIPs, large families, events or meetings, with 10 en-suite bedrooms, dining room, study, heated indoor pool, gym, billiard room, wine cellar and sauna.

Villa Casetta, immersed within Il Borro's merlot vineyards offers guests 4 bedrooms, chef's kitchen, dining room, large living room and an infinity pool. From every room in this Villa, guests are enchanted by vineyard views.

The stone-paved bridge leads to the ancient medieval village: perfectly preserved and recently renovated, the beating heart of a luxurious, widespread hotel. 38 exclusive suites, furnished and designed by Mr. Ferragamo, offer today's travelers the luxury and technology of a five star hotel, set within cobblestone streets and a village that is 1000 years old.

Best of the Best

Ferruccio Ferragamo and his son Salvatore have turned their passion and talent for style to restoring the antique splendor of Il Borro, Member of Relais & Châteaux. To arrive at the estate is to step into a Renaissance masterwork. Choose from exclusive Villas and cozy suites nestled among village buildings, which include shops and a church. Breathtaking views of vineyards and olive groves surround you, and indeed you’ll discover a working vineyard — part of a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1760, when the estate was under Medici rule.

Hotel Tip

Take home Il Borro extra-virgin olive oil, pressed on the estate, as a souvenir of your stay.

Our stay at Il Borro was fabulous. We were a large group of 15. The manager and staff were absolutely amazing. They were kind, friendly and attentive. We stayed in the Village Suites, which are medieval independent apartments apart from the main hotel. The rooms were luxurious and comfortable. The grounds at Il Borro are beautiful - such a relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed the swimming pools, spa and most of all delicious foods. We had a special evening with the "chef" which made our stay at Il Boro such a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend this property to everyone.

Amazing property with excellent service

By: Tammy G

Reviewed on: 09 Aug 2019

Our stay at Il Borro exceeded our expectations! The property has so much to offer in a unique setting. And I can’t say enough about the people here! The most kind-hearted people offering excellent service. I felt like I was a guest in their home! We stayed for 4 nights and the medieval village rooms were lovely and very convenient being just a short walk to pool, restaurant and spa. The village pool had excellent views and was quite serene. All our meals were delicious and we especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet and cooking class with lunch. The property is conveniently located just an hour from Florence and not too far from other points of interest. We used car service arranged by Il Borro concierge to visit Cortona and wineries. We visited in July and it was quite hot, even with air conditioning, so if sensitive to heat I would recommend fall or spring. I highly recommend Il Borro for couples, families or small groups. A relaxing and casual but luxurious resort in Tuscany.
