About Us

COMO Castello Del Nero, Tuscany, is a 740-acre, historic estate in the world-famous Chianti wine region of Italy — and COMO’s first property in continental Europe, offering the same precise service, therapeutic wellness experiences and exceptional food for which the brand is known globally. The Renaissance cities of Florence and Siena are both within a 30-minute drive. At the property’s heart stands a twelfth-century Castello featuring 50 rooms and suites with interiors by Milanese designer, Paola Navone. Navone has brought a light and modern ‘COMO’ aesthetic, to complement and enhance the period architecture of the Castello, without losing any of the deeply authentic historic texture. The Michelin-starred La Torre restaurant is located in the original stables of the Castello in the winter, transferring to the garden terrace in summer. All menus are overseen by Executive Chef, Giovanni Luca Di Pirro, and showcase gourmet Italian cuisine, using the finest Tuscan produce, much of it from the estate’s kitchen-garden. The estate also has its own vineyard, beehives and olive groves. There are two informal restaurants, La Taverna and the Pavilion, as well as a wine cellar, which dates back to the twelfth century. COMO Shambhala Retreat offers complimentary yoga on set days, therapeutic massages and expert guidance in holistic wellness, while the garden features two tennis courts and a large outdoor swimming pool.

Fabulous property including onsite gourmet dining and spa. Great location to navigate all of Tuscany, especially the Chianti wine region. The rooms were lovely, large and well appointed. The staff was warm and helpful. The free shuttle to Florence and Siena makes it easy to stay here rather than in Florence to enjoy both the beauty and peace and quiet of the countryside as well as the art and history of Florence.

Secluded Spa

Reviewed on: 25 Oct 2015

We stayed here for 4 nights on our trip and had an amazing room. We unfortunately did not get to enjoy the spa. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. It felt extremely secluded and was away from all the hustle and bustle but it was conveniently located within a 15 minute drive of many villages and wonderful places to see and things to do.

Should I repeat the headline? My own private castle in Tuscany! Oh- details? A fabulous lunch paired with Italian vino on a vista overlooking rolling hills of grape vines. Adventurous hikes across property originally developed centuries ago. World class spa with massage, unique hot tubs and state-of-the art showers. Tennis anyone? Remarkable and unique!

What a View

We loved the Castello del Nero Hotel. Our room was very nice and the view was spectacular. The staff went our of their way to make us feel welcome. Even though we were captive, we felt we had options with the two restaurants and the pub. The food was very good and there were many options. The room was very clean and all of the services were over the top. This was exactly what we expected in Tuscany.

Florence Area Hotel

By: SteveO

Reviewed on: 27 Sep 2017

If you are going to the Florence area, you have to stay in Tavarnelle Val Di Pesa which is about 30 minutes or so south of Florence. Castello del Nero is in the Tavarnelle countryside. It is the finest hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are large, the complex spotless, the view amazing and the staff are world class. When we return to Italy, there is no doubt we will stay at Castello del Nero - even as I write this note, I want to go back.

this hotel property is absolutely gorgeous, has stunning views, wonderful staff and great food. however, I would say this resembles more of a great 4 star property than 5 star. there is no actual bar to have a drink, not enough lounge chairs for everyone by the pool and a very minimal fitness center. rooms were spacious and clean but no frills. wonderful sommelier but not a smooth process for ordering and shipping wines
