Charm and elegance

The Bauer Il Palazzo has much to offer any traveler to Venice. Its location, close to St. Mark's, is ideal. Rooms are elegantly decorated with modern finishes and conveniences. The ground floor restaurant allows its patrons an entertaining panorama of the Grand Canal's boat traffic. Combined with creative and delicious cuisine, we enjoyed a picture-perfect dining experience. The rooftop breakfast terrace has a similar, although bird's eye, vantage point. The staff in the hotel and the restaurants were unfailingly courteous and helpful.

We were in Venice during the Film Festival, so our 1st and 2nd choice of hotels were fully booked. We went with the Bauer Palazzo and while the location is great, it was lacking in other areas. The service was ok and the food was not great. I will say that the view from our room (facing the grand canal) was beautiful.

Charming Town, Very European Hotel

By: Mimi

Reviewed on: 23 Sep 2019

This hotel had a very European feel in a tiny town at the base of the Alps. It is good for a night or two but perhaps not for a longer stay. It feels a bit more like a chain in some of the rooms but in others more like a funky European apartment. The breakfast was very Germanic style which is like most of the area, even though it is in Italy.

The Bauer Palazzo was a perfect end to our holiday. There can’t be a better place in Venice! It was a 5 minute walk to St Mark’s Square, directly on the Grand Canal with an unbelievable courtyard and a beautiful view of the canal, a stunning statue and so well taken care of. Our breakfast was served on a lovely outdoor patio, on the Grand Canal with gondolas parked right in front, so interesting to watch a bustling Venice morning on the canal. Breakfast was very nice and bountiful. The hotel itself was beautiful. Our suite was on the side closest to St Mark’s Square, we had a lovely sitting room, two bathrooms done in marble, a lovely bedroom and a long balcony. When you open the glass doors in the bedroom or living room you look directly at the Bell Tower of the square, amazing. Fantastic bar on the rooftop. The views from there were breathtaking, such lovely ambiance. All in all a wonderful experience. We will be back! ‘
