About Us

San Miguel de Allende sits at an altitude of 6,435 feet above sea level. Located in Central Mexico it is easily reached from Mexico City, 171 miles away, or the nearby León Airport which is 1 hour and 30 minutes from the hotel or Queretaro Airport just 1 hour from the hotel.A few blocks from the cathedral and main city square, the boutique hotel of Casa de Sierra Nevada is a mixture of 16th to 18th century Spanish colonial buildings.
Rooms & Suites
The hotel has 37 deluxe rooms and suites, distributed among four mansions and the Casa del Parque, a few minutes walk away. The design of the accommodations follows the original architecture and so no two rooms are identical in size and amenities. Each of the rooms and suites has its own individual décor but they all celebrate the spirit of San Miguel. They are characterized by the furnishings, art and antiques, exquisite fabrics, and richly colored Talavera-tiled bathrooms, that add a touch of charm.
Many rooms have working fireplaces (some have two), others boast private terraces with outstanding views of San Miguel and some have both fireplace and terrace. Some of the rooms face onto the courtyards and gardens, while others have balconies and beautiful views of the city.
Six accommodations are in the Casa Principal, where the Sierra Nevada Restaurant is located and eight accommodations are in Casa Limón, which also houses the pool, meeting room and library.Seven accommodations are located in Casa de la Fuente as well as in Casa Caballo, and five are in Casa del Parque, which features an outstanding Mexican restaurant under its colonnades. The Parque building, which is the most recent addition to the Sierra Nevada collection, is located a few blocks away on Benito Juarez Park.
Dining
The Casa de Sierra Nevada';s restaurant Andanza is at the top of hotel dining establishments in Mexico, and the culinary choices on offer are as exceptional as the hotel itself.Guests may opt to dine in the privacy of their room or terrace.
Andanza offers a bar where the boleros of a local trio provide the perfect backdrop to indulge in a refreshing cocktail or aperitif before dinner. The Blue Bar extends on to the patio where you can sip your drink of choice whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the town bustling along in front of you.
Leisure
The rich history and cultural wealth of San Miguel and the surrounding areas can be experienced in many ways. On any given day, you can visit ranches, thermal baths, golf courses and numerous historic sites. Those with a green thumb can stroll through Juarez Park, the Orchid Garden or the Jardín Botánico, home to hundreds of species of succulents and cacti.Art enthusiasts might opt for a tour of galleries or spend the afternoon at the Fábrica La Aurora, an old textile mill that now houses artist studios. For the culinary aficionado, no trip would be complete without a stop at the market to buy chilis, cacti and fresh queso followed by a cooking class with a local chef. Then, of course, there are the frequent fiestas, which almost always include fireworks, dances and the infectious exuberance of the San Miguelese.
At the Casa de Sierra Nevada we offer an in-room spa service for your comfort and convenience. There are outside spa services available, including temazcal and natural hot spring treatments.Fitness and tennis facilities are available nearby. The hotel features a 60-foot swimming pool, a library with Internet, room service, laundry/dry cleaning and more.

A Lovely Stay

I was surprised when I arrived at Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada. After looking at their website I expected a complex of several building with surrounding grounds. Instead there are several buildings on a city street. However, our building had a lovely courtyard where we enjoyed relaxing. The location of the hotel is wonderful because it is within walking distance of the market, parks, and major churches. The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful and helpful. They couldn't have been nicer. The only negative was that during the time we were there the main dining room was closed for remodeling, and I felt that we should have been told that before arrival. They did have garden restaurant which they said was a couple of blocks away and they did drive us up to that one, which was nice because their "couple of blocks" seemed more like 1/2-3/4 miles uphill. After the first morning that seemed too much trouble for a continental breakfast so we found a nice restaurant around the block.
