This is a very nice hotel in a great location. However, it is a little stuffy, and could use some updating. The bedding seems dated - most hotels use comforters with covers that can be laundered, but this hotel still has the old bedspread covering which looked worn. Our room in this hotel was quite plain and not very large but it was OK.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city (across the Prado) that harkens to a bygone age. The service was nothing short of excellent, from the check-in, daily questions to the concierge, to our check-out. The rooms are lovely with old world charm however, the bed linens are not particularly soft and the shower cubicle is very cramped, to put it mildly. The food at this hotel is very good.

Old and run down

Ritz Madrid has been bought by Mandarin Oriental--the hotel needs to be "gutted" and refurbished. All the rooms are small and old--carpet and furniture are soiled and in terrible shape. The hallway outside our room smelled of urine. The breakfast buffet is good and the lounge areas are large. If location is important, it is across from the Prado, but that is all that is positive.

We stayed here at the end of our moroccan adventure. The hotel is located in a perfect part of Madrid and was perfectly comfortable...however, they are slated to undergo a renovation and I would wait to visit until the rooms have been updated.

A beautiful elegant hotel of the old style. Ornate, facility staffed with highly trained professionals. From the baggage to the restaurant servers, service and attention to detail were foremost. This is a top of the line old world hotel that is an experience unto itself.
