A Handcrafted Safe Stay

The outbreak of Covid-19 has necessitated some significant changes in the way we go about our business.

Our COVID-19 management plan is aligned to the required standards for hygiene, cleaning and COVID-19 prevention and mitigation, as directed by the South African Government and the WHO.

The development of these protocols comprises practices and strategies that will enable the operation of the hotel, to be reactivated with the relevant health and safety measures firmly in place.

We take pride in creating handcrafted authentic experiences for our guests and hold ourselves to the highest standard. We have welcomed guests over many years with remarkable care. It is with this same dedication and diligence that we are elevating our cleanliness standards and protocols.

Our meticulously crafted safety standards includes elevated sanitation across the hotel with disinfectants for use against COVID-19. Sanitisation will be extended to all guest areas, culinary preparation areas and housekeeping procedures. Stringent practices will be prioritised to adhere to regulations in terms of social distancing, the wearing of masks, personal hygiene and elevated cleanliness. Our employees are trained on the importance of increased sanitation and all the prescribed procedures in this situation, this includes any information and assistance which our guests may require.

Sustainability

Cape Grace is committed to reducing the impact it has on the environment. By recognizing how the consumption of energy, usage of water and other resources used throughout our daily operations impacts a greener future, we have adopted initiatives that encourage sustainability, drive environmental awareness and effect transformation. Cape Grace became a member of The Heritage Environmental Management Company in 2010. It provides businesses with effective environmental management and certification solutions designed to reduce and limit the impact our operations have on our environment. Through our association with the H.E.M.C, we are now co-certified with Green Globe, a global travel and tourism industries’ certification program for sustainable tourism.

Kitchen oil is transformed into biodiesel, our on-site waste-sorting area minimises dumping and landfill contributions. Disused hardware is donated to an E-waste company and environmentally sensitive bulbs and batteries are disposed of responsibly.

We look forward to increasing our number of projects, broadening our reach and investment into the environment. In our endeavour to lessen energy resources, we have switched to LED lights. With large windows throughout the hotel, we continue to encourage the use of natural light and airflow, reducing the need for air-conditioning.

We monitor our landfill, make use of green appliances and green refrigerators. We continue to look for ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

I’ve stayed in many luxury hotels on every continent over the last 30 years. Cape Grace is among the best of the best. The staff treatment of guests and the service levels are 7 star. A special commendation for concierge Cemone and our drivers Trevor, Progress, Lance, Ricky and Edward. These are professionals of the highest order and lovely people. It would be a great pleasure to return.
