About Us

Located at the most prestigious address in Edinburgh, the five-star Balmoral Hotel combines the noble character of a Scottish baronial home with the classic sophistication of an international hotel. As a longstanding 'Leading Hotel of the World', The Balmoral offers the high levels of service delivery necessary to ensure that the utmost guest satisfaction is achieved. Located at Number One Princes Street, on the city's main shopping thoroughfare, the five-star Balmoral is only a short walk from Edinburgh Castle, our nation's monuments, museums and galleries and the new Scottish Parliament.
The Balmoral boasts 188 guest rooms, including 20 of the most attractive suites in Europe, many of which have working fireplaces. The bedrooms have an authentic character borrowed from the original design themes of the hotel. All rooms are individually designed and include air conditioning, telephones with voice messaging, 30-channel interactive TV, fax machine with copy and laptop printing features, private safe, hairdryer, trouser press, mini-bar and marble bathroom. We have also upgraded the in-room technology. All rooms now have 2-line phones, a modem point and satellite TV on which you can also check and pay your bills in the room before departing. We are lucky that we have such wonderful views over the city - many of the rooms overlook Edinburgh castle whilst others overlook the rolling hills which are close by.
Dining facilities include the Michelin-starred "Number One" restaurant, famous for award-winning cuisine in an elegant setting, "Hadrian's", a restaurant for chic, cosmopolitan dining at reasonable prices, "The Bollinger Bar at Palm Court", is Scotland’s only Bollinger champagne bar and is perfect for Afternoon Tea and evening cocktails in luxurious refinement, and "Balmoral Bar", for relaxed drinks in stylish surroundings.
The Balmoral boasts a 15 metre swimming pool, a fully-equipped gym for both aerobic exercise and weight training, a steam room, sauna and relaxation suite, as well as a wide array of beauty therapy treatments. The Balmoral Spa was recently voted Scotland’s top Urban Day Spa by readers of Conde Nast Traveller.
In addition, the hotel offers a choice of 10 function suites all with natural daylight, a new garage facility offering over 100 valet parking spaces and a business center offering state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

Great hotel with exceptional service!

By: Jense

Reviewed on: 20 Nov 2013

Yes, the Balmoral is perfectly located in the heart of the city but that alone would have not made it a pleasant stay or memorable. The staff were incredibly helpful. The hotel is well appointed without any air or stuffiness. The room was not only spacious but efficiently arranged and appointed. We felt right at home.

Authentic and Luxurious Stay

The hotel atmosphere, condition and service keeps you from wanting to even leave to explore the town. Friendly staff members continued to go above and beyond with a smile in order to meet all of my needs. The room was absolutely stunning and in superb condition. I would consider revisiting the city based solely on the thought that I can't wait to stay at this hotel again.

The Balmoral, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Edinburg

This is a first class hotel with excellent service and in an extremely convenient location. We were met by the shift manager and shown the room and given an explanation of services. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. We used the concierge to book dinner reservations for 2 nights and obtain tickets to a local attraction. He too was excellent. This is the second Rocco Forte hotel we have stayed in in Europe. Both offer exceptional service and accommodations. We could not have been more pleased..

Excellent location, beautiful hotel, splendid room. Would not recommend Hadrian's restaurant: so-so food, poor service. Unable to get a reservation at One, unfortunately.

Ask for what you want

Our first room assignment had a very soft bed. We requested a different room and were assigned a beautiful room with a new mattress. The Balmoral is a large hotel but they seem to be able to deal with guests as if the hotel was smaller. The Concierges were excellent. We asked for a recommendation for a local restaurant and we were the only travelers there.
