With a guestlist that’s included everyone from Charlie Chaplin to Henry VIII, Great Fosters is a regal retreat steeped in nearly five centuries of history. Grand four-poster beds, Flemish tapestries, and deep soaking tubs distinguish many of the hotel’s 56 suites and bedrooms, while dishes like Herdwick spring lamb and slow-cooked duck ragu don the menus at the Michelin-starred Tudor Pass and the Estate Grill. Be sure to stop into the spa for one of their royalty-worthy treatments.

24 hours of indulgence - a gastronomic occasion

Introducing our Gastronomic Dinner, Bed & Breakfast; 24 hours of indulgence, including the 7-course tasting menu from the Michelin-starred Tudor Pass restaurant. Available Wednesday - Saturday, subject to availability in The Tudor Pass.

The Tudor Pass - Michelin Starred Dining

The Tudor Pass is an intimate, gastronomic restaurant with only seven tables and is open Wednesday - Saturday for both lunch & dinner. The reimagining of an icon, The Tudor Pass is a new chapter in the storied history of this special restaurant, named so to celebrate the unique interactive service style diners can expect – without the noise of an open kitchen.

Completely refurbished recently, The Tudor Pass is both elegant & intimate, with linen textured wall coverings, sumptuous velvet seating with patterns inspired by nature, and a grand tapestry and huge stone fireplace offering focal points. This unique dining room, contrasting Tudor heritage with contemporary furnishings, is the perfect restaurant for a celebratory occasion or a gastronomic treat.

    Meet The Chef: Alex Payne

The Tudor Pass is the reimagining of our iconic Tudor Room restaurant, and we are delighted to introduce Executive Head Chef Alex Payne. Alex previous to Great Fosters was at The Thames Table at Crockers, where he was the Head Chef. Alex was born in Egham and spent his childhood only a mile from Great Fosters so it’s wonderful to have him 'come home'.

Alex’s signature tasting menu, which is available at both lunch & dinner is inspired by classic flavours and seasonal ingredients, harmonised by modern techniques. Having worked for several renowned chefs including Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay, he expresses his passion for food through his enthusiasm, creativity and theatre. Alex comments “My style of food is designed around classical dishes and flavours but I endeavour to find interesting ways to refine and modernise them to create memories for our diners. By using only the best possible seasonal and local ingredients to produce bold flavours I will be creating an experience for our The Tudor Pass guests that they will warmly remember for years to come’’.
