About Us

Step Back in Time To an Age of Grandeur

Crossing the Rift Valley and climbing the steppe onto the green and rolling hills south of the Ngorongoro Crater, there lies a truly undeniable surprise and one that will be a home-away-from-home.

Old World Charm, New World Hospitality

Elewana the Manor at Ngorongoro, located in the north west Tanzania and with its 9 luxurious cottages (18 Suites), family cottage, and magnificent main Manor House, is one of the first safari lodges of its kind to blend East African hospitality with old-world Afro-European architecture and decor. Located adjacent to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture.

Intimate and Personable

Every detail of The Manor has been designed with its guests’ comfort in mind. Each of the cottages has been carefully positioned to maximise the views of the adjacent verdant hills but at the same time to maintain the intimacy and privacy of this old-world Manor home.

Ngorongoro - The Drama Awaits

The Manor at Ngorongoro provides the perfect environment to relax and take in the outstanding natural beauty of its gardens and the coffee-bush laden hills. However the drama that is Africa is but a short distance away.

Ngorongoro Crater is famed as being the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’, and is a ‘must see’ on anyone’s itinerary. This extinct volcano - with its 18-kilometre wide crater floor - is home to an abundant and unique ecosystem that encompasses almost all of the wildlife that you would wish to see in Africa. This spectacular setting is a ‘once-in-a- lifetime’ opportunity to experience the rawness and beauty of Africa’s natural flora and fauna.

The Manor - A Home Away From Home

And what better way to enjoy the Crater than in the knowledge that at the end of the day you will return to enjoy an incomparable dinner in The Manor’s restaurant followed by a deeply restful night in a cottage that has been designed both with your comfort solely in mind.

True elegance and grandeur - The Manor at Ngorongoro awaits.

Best of the Best

African safaris come with a cup of freshly brewed arabica at Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro, a beautiful Cape Dutch-style farmhouse that reigns over a rolling 1,500-acre working coffee plantation with commanding views of the adjacent Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Excursions to the Ngorongoro Crater and nearby Lake Manyara are augmented with horseback rides and picnics in the fields, massages in the spa, and croquet on the manicured lawn. It’s all about old-world elegance in the 19 cottage suites with double-sided woodburning fireplaces, clawfoot bathtubs, and private, garden-enveloped terraces.

Hotel Tip

Families enjoy a warm welcome and kid-focused activities, such as pony rides and guided nature walks, visits to a local farm, and movies in the private cinema.

Health & Safety

Elewana’s Essential Elements TO A SAFE & HYGIENIC SAFARI

We know this time of great uncertainty is having a huge impact on our lives, and we want to let you know what we are doing to implement rigorous health, hygiene and safety standards across all our properties. These have been developed in conjunction with our joint venture partner Minor Hotels, Eco Lab, SGS and World Health Organisation (WHO), using global best practices customised for the natural environments in which we operate. We are continually monitoring the guidelines and advice provided by relevant governments and health organisations and are committed to making the very best decisions for our guests and staff.

Our protocols combined with intensive training programmes, will allow us to resume operations in a safe environment for our staff and guests as soon as it is well-advised to do so.

The Elewana Essential Elements (EEE) embrace health, hygiene and safety best practice so that from the moment we say “karibuni” (welcome) when meeting our guests to the time we say “kwaheri” (goodbye), our guest and staff welfare and safety is at the forefront of our mind.

You can access to a full detailed of the measures here and we invite also to check out the video here.
