About Us

Philosophy: At the Dwarika’s Resort in Nepal, we believe in the need for maintaining harmony between body, mind, spirit and earth in order to enjoy a peaceful, healthy and balanced life. Drawing on ancient Hindu scriptures, Buddhist medicine and traditional Himalayan knowledge, the resort is founded on a philosophy of respecting nature and the self.

The resort has been built primarily using natural materials such as stone, wood, earth, and traditional building method of lime with brick dust. In interior spaces, natural fibers and colors have been used, and we have used paints that are less harmful to the environment. Bathroom fittings were specifically produced for Dwarika’s, and were made without the use of chemicals. The resort also incorporates other environmental systems, including water re-harvesting, grey water treatment, solar lighting and recycling of food and other waste.

Living: Crafted by Mother Nature, each space and suite at the resort is unique, and has been created to showcase and celebrate her various forms. Throughout, a simple, spacious and rustic style complements the tranquil surroundings. Following ancient Himalayan principles of energy and built using local materials that are not harmful to the earth or to you, care has been taken to ensure that each suite is a haven of positivity. With private indoor and outdoor living and sleeping spaces, your suite is part of a lifestyle that brings you closer to nature, creating an ideal setting for reflection, relaxation and revival.

Wellbeing: Inspired by a blend of Vedic Philosophy and Buddhist Medicine, the resort focuses on the complete wellbeing of an individual, drawing on the knowledge and holistic lifestyle of the Himalayan region. It is a story of nurturing harmony within the spirit, the body and the mind. Each element at the resort has been designed to address the pancha kosha or five layers of being; Annamaya (physical), Pranamaya (vital air), Manomaya (mind), Vigyanmaya (intellect) and Anandamaya (inner bliss). The Pancha Kosha Himalayan Spa, an integral part of the resort, offers treatments and activities that address each of the koshas.

Under the guidance of our ayurvedic doctor and naturopathy expert, meditation, yoga and astrology masters, Hindu priest and visiting monk, you will be able to find an atmosphere of complete harmony, renewal and growth.

Flavours: To maintain a balanced body and mind, we need to be nourished with the right type and the right amount of food. Meals are therefore a key aspect of the resort, and one of its highlights. Each meal is thoughtfully prepared remaining true to the natural ingredients, each with their own flavours, textures and aromas. We use fresh, seasonal and local produce, primarily sourced from our own organic farms, or from other local farmers. Meals complement the treatments and philosophy of the resort, leading you gently towards an enriching lifestyle.

Best of the Best

Information not provided

Harmony with nature is fundamental in the Himalayan lifestyles. From the very beginning we have implemented the following sustainable processes at the resort:

  • Reusing waste
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Resource Recovery
  • Water conservation
  • Renewable / Alternative energy
  • Organic Farming (for grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.)
  • Adoption of energy saving devices
  • Initial steps towards establishing the resort as a chemical-free zone
  • Regular awareness programs for staff members on environmental issues
  • Environmentally conscious procurement of all items

The bungalows of the spa suites are built with Bazra mortar and Bazra mud and plaster, which is primarily made up of lime and brick dust. A traditional building technique used by our fore-fathers, now all but forgotten, this method is environmentally more responsible compared to building with concrete. Where structurally feasible, we have drawn on this practice. During the construction of the resort, new masons have been trained, in order to revive the knowledge and workmanship of Bazra. In various areas of the resort, bamboo, a fast growing and environmentally sustainable material, has been used. Finally, local natural fabrics and fibers such as cotton, nettle, hemp and jute feature extensively in the furnishings. This is one way through which we are promoting natural, organic and domestic products.
