About Us

Ellenborough Park is a sumptuous Cotswold manor house in The Cotswolds, situated on the outskirts of Cheltenham Spa. The main house of the estate dates back to the 15th Century, when it was erected from iconic Cotswold stone, steeping the manor in layers of history and intriguing tales. Ellenborough Park is a quintessentially British destination, with a unique streak of individuality inspired by Lady Ellenborough herself, Jane Digby. Jane married Lord Ellenborough at the height of her fame as a dazzling character who took 19th Century English society by storm with her striking beauty & scandalous behaviour. Ellenborough Park has become synonymous with country retreats, romantic breaks, unforgettable weddings & expertly-executed conferences.

Ellenborough Park has been restored to contemporary glory in recent years, elevated to five-star appeal with casual & contemporary restaurants, a dual-level spa, as well as ongoing in-house & specialist training for staff to deliver exemplary service & leadership across every aspect of the hotel.

The hotel has 61 rooms and Suites; each room features bespoke Hypnos beds, marble finish bathrooms with underfloor heating & obligatory fluffy gowns and slippers.

The Spa at Ellenborough Park is a capsule of serenity & wellbeing transported from Lord Ellenborough's India to modern day Cheltenham & includes a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna & 7 treatment rooms offering revitalising facials & massages to created spa experiences.

The Great Hall is ideal for Afternoon Tea during the day, early evening cocktails & after dinner night caps. The room includes antique chandeliers, a stone fireplace hosting crackling log fires in the chilly months & the Minstrels Gallery.

The Beaufort Dining Room, the 3 AA rosette restaurant features oak-panelled walls & original fireplaces whilst the menus hand crafted by David Kelman showcase the best local producers & deliver a true taste of Cotswolds cuisine. The Brasserie delivers seasonal favourites using inspiring flavours from neighbouring counties in a more relaxed and informal setting.

Best of the Best

A stay at Ellenborough Park is like stepping into a dreamy English novel. The ancient manor house, set in the heart of the Cotswolds looking over Cheltenham racecourse, offers 61 bedrooms and suites located in four distinctive buildings. Nearby activities include golf, polo, and horseback riding. There are complimentary race-day chauffeur transfers via the private-access track. Trek the historic, 100-mile-long Cotswolds Way or borrow some Wellingtons to walk the 90-acre parkland. The spa has five treatment rooms, a couple's room, Jacuzzi pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation room, and heated outdoor swimming pool.

Too busy, better places to stay in the region for a weekend trip

By: Yuko

Reviewed on: 13 Apr 2017

We stayed in a newly added building wing but there was no lift -so it wasn't easy with little child and stroller. Room was spacious and room service came quickly, warm floor of the bathroom was a plus for a very cold weather. Liked the amenities (nice UK brand). However, I have to say that the hotel was too busy for the weekend -too many wedding guests (?) that we couldn't book hotel dining nor cream tea. Receptionist somehow squeezed us in and got a table for cream tea as it was complimentary for us from the hotel, but it's silly guests cannot book much at the hotel when there's not much around in the small town of Cheltenham. I think there are better options in the region so next time in Cotswolds, we'd most likely stay at other place.

This was a great hotel with excellent staff. Every team member was super friendly and incredibly helpful. Room was great--heated floors and towel racks were a big hit. Breakfasts were very good. Location was beautiful with a peaceful setting. We will be back.
