About Us

We like to keep it simple and straightforward in a relaxed and informal environment. We believe in a hotel experience liberated from formalities and conservative stiffness. Calmness and simplicity is promoted rather then an abundance of impressions.

It is neither the rigid minimalist look, nor the exaggerated grandness, which guests are used to in a five-star context. It is an ease of freshness in combination with a contemporary classic look, featuring culture, top quality and strong personal impressions to create the added value of belonging.

We believe that personality is more important than formal uniforms. The staff will express a more personal style and possess local knowledge about what’s happening in the town, which will suit those who want to “live” during their stay and are used to top service and relaxed elegance.

A unique and surprising place run by a professional team that are both enthusiastic and endearing, Lydmar Hotel has a wonderfully relaxed and fun ambiance but not at the expense of providing the very best. Expect extreme comfort in individually-designed rooms with great waterfront and old town views, the inspiring in-house art collection and great food in one of the most popular restaurant in Stockholm.

Visit the Royal Palace and the cathedral and stop off at the Modern Muesum of Art, Sweden’s leading museum of art and design, on your way back to Lydmar Hotel.Click here for more information.

Lydmar Hotel has a calm and friendly ambience. The rooms are generous in size with a comfortable seating area and views overlooking the sea, the Royal Palace Nybroviken and Strandvägen. The design is modern with classic touches and interesting works of art on the walls. Enjoy lunch on the terrace before heading into the city.

Composed of 14 islands, Stockholm should be seen from the water. Take the early morning boat tour that leaves from Strömkajen. Then, wander through the small winding streets of Gamla Stan, filled with art galleries, cafes and antique shops. Visit the Royal Palace and the cathedral and stop off at the National Museum, Sweden’s leading museum of art and design, on your way back to Lydmar Hotel.

Best of the Best

There is an endearing ease about the Lydmar Hotel, as if you’re staying in the home of a good friend – one with exceptional taste, of course. The eclectic decor exudes a quiet stylishness, while the staff is genuinely affable. Perhaps this is the reason so many locals congregate at this cozy boutique hotel, set harborside with views of the Old Town. Each of the 46 delightfully spacious rooms has its own personal flair, with mood lighting and gallery-quality artworks. Spend your evenings lingering in the restaurant/lounge, which resembles a comfy living room with stacks of books and an assortment of favorite board games.

Hotel Tip

Book a room on the top floor and peek out one of the original porthole windows that perfectly frame the bay and the prestigious Strandvägen Quay.

I would not recommend this hotel. The service was non existent...WE had to carry our bags up a steep set of stairs. They then put them in a waiting room (even though the room was ready) & said they would be up shortly. Two hours later I called down & they said they would be up shortly....finally I was so disgusted we went down & brought our bags up ourselves......they also were no help at all with checking us in for our flight home...terrible service...simply terrible. So many other high end hotels to choose from, & we ended up with this one...very sad experience.

My husband and I have been working with Lucille for the past 7 years. She has the best connections in the industry. Her follow up and organizational skills always put us at ease no matter where we go or what we do, Lucille is always available (no matter what time zone-LOL). Her years of experience and knowledge keep us coming back year after year. She is like family and would not have it any other way. Thanks for the memories LUCILLE!!!

Lydmar with word of caution

We really liked the Lydmar Hotel however would have chosen 2 nights before boarding the ship. The reason being that we arrived around 9:30 AM but could not get into the room until noon. We walked a while, ate a bite & had coffee but then just collapsed on the foyer sofas awaiting a room. We then slept awhile, got up for drinks and dinner before retiring early. The reason for the suggestion is that we overslept the next morning. My husband woke me at 5 minutes to noon, check out. The desk allowed us 30 minutes to exit the room; we missed the complimentary breakfast, did eat lunch there but missed our tour of the Vasa Viking museum. We got to the ship in plenty of time however the extra night which Viking suggests, in hind sight, is probably a good idea. Paule and I considered the 2 days and decided on 1 day but on older bodies, this was especially difficult.

A fun experience

I felt like I was staying in the home of an artist. The walls of the rooms, halls, sitting areas, and lobby were exhibition sites for terrific original photographic art. Part of our suite was in the turret of the building. It made me feel like I was in a castle. The location is just across from the palace on Gamla Stan, so within walking distance of the Old Town, and convenient to hop-on, hop-off buses to the Vasa Museum. Perfect in every way!

We knew nothing about accommodations in Stockholm but with Victoria's help we landed on the Lydmar. Everyone talks about the Grand Hotel in Stockholm and while pretty, it paled in comparison to the Lydmar. The Lydmar was more our speed, gorgeous room product, great amenities and really great location and views of Stockholm. The staff were exceptional and we're so glad we chose them over anything else in Stockholm.

Cool, classy, contemporary yet cozy and convenient. Excellent dining, fabulous breakfast, great waterfront location. We stayed in the large round tower room with a cocktail lounge vibe but only Scandinavian-tall guests can see out the high windows. If you want a view choose a different room. I would choose this hotel again!
